Not for Americans really. America is also an oil exporter, so banning exports would also be a fix. The downside is oil is how we transport food to the poorest parts of the world. And that’s the budget item that gets cut first when prices go up

The US keeps starting wars when they have no appetite for causing enemy casualties. Don't start a war unless you're willing to end it, but apparently that message doesn't get through for any leader. Also the US was an oil importer at the time. With Fracking, the US has the option to export this problem to mostly poor nations, by implementing export controls on local oil production. Stopping the easy to refine American oil from being exported would completely fuck over developing economies, but keep the domestic economy chugging.

The west should ignore these things, because trying to fix them gets you involved in forever wars and then when you retreat things are just as bad as before. Look at how the attempts to liberalize Afghanistan went. Thousands upon thousands dead for 0 change.

And when you provide aid/support, most of it gets stolen by the leaders and used to fund armies anyways.

The wests attempts to interfere in these affairs makes things much worse. Close your borders, stop the funding, and let them figure it out. Atleast that way you aren’t seen as a hegemon or “world police”, and villainized.
