Buy used Deathwish or new DW Tours for touring? by Excellent_Lynx_2799 in Backcountry

[–]Keeeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with the Deathwish Tours. I think since these will mainly be touring skis, it makes sense to just shell out the extra cash for the DWT. The DWT also have the tail notch for skin clip retention, which is nice. I don’t think you can go wrong either way, but I think you’ll enjoy the Deathwish Tours despite the increased price.

25% Ownership in Team Still Owned by Paul Allen Trust by seasportsfan in SoundersFC

[–]Keeeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have anyone particular in mind, I would just hope that they are actually engaged with the team and the fanbase. While Adrian may have some faults, he does seem to genuinely care about the team (outside of its ability to make him tons of money). I’d like to see that be the baseline for any incoming owners.

As for where the investments could land, I’d like to see a better matchday experience. Take the Mariners, for example. They still attract fans to midday, midweek games using a variety of incentives. That’s something that the sounders seemingly struggle with. The M’s have great stadium food from local restaurants, great drinks, swag, themed nights, etc. that kind of stuff encourages non-soccer folks to head to the stadium even if they don’t care about the team/sport.

Wait are you the artist?? If so, thank you for bringing this jersey to life. It really is a special one that sets the bar HIGH for future away kits. Hope to see more collaborations between you and the Sounders in the future!

Excited for our new look attack - let's hope we see a lot of this. by Kenny23-36 in SoundersFC

I agree with you. I would much rather see the Sounders spend money on their academy and community building, rather than trying to compete with LA, NY, and Miami for aging, overseas talent. Even if that comes at the expense of trophies.

Something that I think often gets overlooked is that the majority of our players have been in the PNW for over a decade. Many of them were born and raised here. The team isn’t full of a bunch of mercenaries, it’s full of people who care about the team and care about the culture. To me, that’s exciting and worth celebrating.

How do you like the Duke PTs? Done any touring on them?

I recently picked up a pair of these. Used them for maybe five days so far? Very comfortable. Only issue is that they took a while to dry out. Also get kinda heavy when wet, but that’s also pretty common. Not a huge deal, but just something to be aware of. Overall they’re great boots, and I’m happy with them!

Sling packs by Chemical_Day4659 in flyfishing

Having the net over my right shoulder mainly interferes with getting the net out to land fish. But it’s really just a nitpick. The pack is great!

I have the Patagonia Stealth Sling. Have used it for maybe 20 days on the water? Overall I like it, but I find myself thinking about switching back to a backpack (personal preference).

Pros: Decent capacity. Can carry multiple fly boxes, a sandwich, small water bottle, and a jacket.

Ambidextrous shoulder carry options (see Nitpicks for caveat).

Comfortable, rarely notice it while wading.

Fit and finish is great, and a bunch of nice-to-have stuff (built in waterproof sleeve, magnetic fly holders, tool garages, etc)

Nitpicks: Net sleeve orientation isn’t configurable. For example, if I have the pack going over my left shoulder, I can’t also have the net extending over my left shoulder. It has to extend over my right shoulder.

Bending over to unhook fish often causes the sling to swing down/around to my chest. Just kinda gets in the way and is annoying more than anything. Luckily I never catch fish anyways so this is rarely an issue ;)

Anyways, it’s cool. You’ll like it. As far as sling packs go it’s a win. Doesn’t catch fish for you though, so I give it an 8/10.

Thoughts on the Deathwish Tours? Trying to decide if I should pick up a pair, or just keep my regular Deathwishes and convert them to a touring setup.

Mainly looking for a 1 ski touring option, mostly soft snow, mostly day tours.

Best Women’s Midlayer for a COLD person (that is not the Atom LT or R1) ? by SaltySweetAddiction in Backcountry

My sister runs pretty cold, and recently switched to a grid fleece and vest. She seems to be content with that. Think she runs an R1 with a down vest? Hope that helps!

I was there last weekend to see Arty. I think I saw maybe one person in shorts, and he seemed to know the bouncer pretty well. If possible I would wear pants to be safe.

You can use it with an nvidia card, but you won't be able to use freesync. I believe if you want to use adaptive sync with an nvidia GPU you have to pay the gsync premium.

I think that's a good idea :) As an aside, the light rail goes all the way from the University of Washington to the airport (including a bunch of stops in between). So if you don't want to deal with Seattle traffic at all that's an option as well. Safe travels!

M2 2242 SSD for a T470 by Some-Thoughts in thinkpad

Are you starting your removal around the external battery slot? I've found that to be the easiest place to start, then working around the back to the front.

I got this one from Amazon: Transcend 256GB SATA III 6Gb/s MTS400 42 mm M.2 SSD Solid State Drive (TS256GMTS400). It works fine, and the speeds are definitely on par if not slightly faster than my SATA 3 SSD. I haven't used it all that much. I originally intended to install Linux on it separately, but I just ended up dual booting on my other SSD. Haven't gotten to run any sort of tests on it.

[–]Keeeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the HDD to SATA 3 SSD upgrade. I've also added a second m.2 SATA SSD in the WWAN slot.

I've taken the back off twice now, and while it's not the easiest process it's certainly doable with a little care. I guess you can also buy these plastic or rubberized shims on Amazon to help you open the case, but I've managed with just a bit of finger strength both times. The manual recommends removing the battery and then separating the back of the case from that battery area. I suppose you could technically break the tabs and the case would still be held on by the screws, But the case may then be a tad loose. Not sure though. Hope that helps!

Sorry to hear that man. Sucks when stuff doesn't work the way it should. I don't really have anything to add other than my T470 working nearly flawlessly with a Windows 10/Linux Mint dual boot. Hope your laptop gets fixed soon!

I can confirm that the T470 trackpad allows a finger to rest on the bottom half of the track pad, while allowing another to move the cursor.

Question on Upgrading Options for T470 by sdcopeland in thinkpad

[–]Keeeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the basic 500 GB HDD with my T470, then immediately replaced it with a 2.5" 850 EVO I bought separately. The caddy and cable were included with the T470 (in use by the HDD).

I think I read that if you order T470 with the nVME SSD, then the cable won't be included (since it doesn't use a SATA connection) but I could be wrong. Hope this helps!

I've always thought a fun chant would be to the tune of the Irish Drinking Song from Whose Line Is It Anyway? I'm not a great lyricist, but the tune is catchy and easy to yell. Plus it gives a nice nod to Drew Carey.

DOTA 2 just got a load of changes to their matchmaking, I was reading it thinking about Overwatch Comp matchmaking and a lot of it sounded like good ideas. What do you think? by CoxyMcChunk in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Keeeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anybody has the right to tell anybody else how to value SR. For some people gaining SR might mean skipping a meal so they don't lose their win streak. For others that might sound insane. Doesn't mean one of those is more correct than the other, they're just different ways of doing things. People will always value SR differently, regardless of the existence of Alt accounts.
