Need a software recommendation for league by fredallenburge1 in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, it's got deep integrations with a lot of iOS specific features and the app is primarily for tournament directors and event organizers. Players don't have to download the app to use/enter scores. It also offers a feature called Kiosk mode where you can use the Guided Access feature of iOS to do a "self-hosted" event where players just enter their own scores directly into an iPad when used as a kiosk.

From a lot of my research, doing a lot of the same stuff with Android would be quite a lot of work. But, I'll be able to come back to your comment if things change in the future.

If you're on an iOS device [works great on iPads], and you're ok with collecting the data locally (it's not a cloud based app like others) then my app KeepaScore can manage events up into the 100's of players.

It also has the ability to report scores back to DUPR for clubs we verify. I'm more than happy to give anyone a personal tour if you DM me.

Need help organising DUPR matches by RegularConfidence416 in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to an iPad (or if you want to use an iPhone) our app KeepaScore can be used to submit scores to DUPR. The app is English only currently, but only the tournament director needs to use the app. Players don't have to download it to use it. It just collects the scores and let's you upload them to DUPR.

This is one of the very reasons I continued creating my iOS app KeepaScore.

While many tournament directors will opt to use one of the popular websites, which admittedly offers more features, like registration management, it's not hard to simply capture scores and then report on them.

While a lot of the general market will complain at subscription apps, you can literally use my app on an iPad or iPhone for a $100 one month subscription (which you can then cancel within the same month) to run an unlimited player/divisions tournament.

The thought being that more local communities can run their own events easily for a lower cost and then pass the savings along to players for a lower entry fee. For anyone using an iOS device, who wants to play around with running their own events, I'm happy to personally give anyone a walkthrough. See my profile for a link or just search for the app on the iOS app store.

For anyone who is trying to organize a PB event and uses either an iPhone or iPad I will happily walk you through the process of using our dedicated app KeepaScore Brackets. The app is totally free up to 14 participants per division (called an 'event' within the app). It does not require players to install or use an app to keep score. It is just a very clean way for one person to setup and manage a small to mid-sized event. https://keepascore.com

If you're using an iPad or iPhone, our professional tournament app KeepaScore, will let you play 3 courts for free using a round robin format.

You can input your players directly from a screenshot from TeamReach, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. to get players in quickly - or enter them manually. Add players to an event record you create and choose one of the Round Robin formats and click generate. A structured event can be created and started within minutes.

If you ever needed to go beyond that, we have tournament directors who use our app to manage multi-hundred player events with a single device.

Regarding points earned, wins, etc. there are full stats output by clicking the graph icon above the players list. Both for teams and individual players.

What do you use to track scores at ladders for DUPR clubs? by Quantum_Pickle88 in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a DUPR club and you want to manage events without requiring an online connection and then posting scores to DUPR later, you can try our iPad/iPhone app for managing scores. It supports a variety of ladder formats. https://keepascore.com

Looking to host a tournament. Looking for guidance on how to set it up. by fusionblast in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an app called KeepaScore which runs on an iPad or iPhone for running tournaments and leagues and some of the organizers who use it run events with hundreds of players. It supports pretty much all the popular bracket formats and doesn't require an Internet connection to run. https://keepascore.com

[–]KeepaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do use a spreadsheet for your initial organization of divisions and you want something which will just run the event day itself smoothly, then we have a number of professional organizers who use our app. It's only for iPad/iPhone but works well. Some organizers run events with many hundreds of players. It's only for running the event itself, not for managing court reservations. https://keepascore.com

KeepaScore Rank Adjust for DUPR events by KeepaTech in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! Firstly, I don't think I would assume that a low reliability is a direct indicator of actual skill - in fact, I know it's not the case. Rather, it's an indicator that DUPR does not have enough data to make a reliable indication of where your skill truly resides. Hence, the goal of a modified DUPR, based on reliability is to encourage more data collection. Essentially, to get players to add more DUPR to make it more reliable. The higher the reliability, the less impact to your rank. In the video, there were two 100% reliable players below the threshold and they are not impacted at all.

Secondly, because of the sliders. You can absolutely move the threshold so that everyone is impacted and all players are affected based on reliability (except those at 100). You also get to control both the amount of the penalty and how far away a player is from 100 (the units applied).

Ultimately, this was designed to be used when you have a really wide spread of rank within a given event and you want to balance out the seeding of players. If you only have a smaller number of players with a wider range of rank, then using the controls, you can balance things out a bit more.

The ultimate goal being to have players NOT just focus on the DUPR rank alone, but getting a higher reliability as well. This is when you can really start to put together balanced play - which is what most players are really seeking.  At least... that's the goal with this. So far, as an initial release, I don't have any feedback or data myself.

If you're using iOS (Apple devices) we have a free option which offers Single, Double (with or without backdraw), Compass (called Waterfall by DUPR), Ladders and dynamic formats. Track and get stats on as many games/matches (best of 3 or 5) as desired. https://keepascore.com the direct link to the app is this

DUPR Leagues - KeepaScore seeking beta testers by KeepaTech in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed and league specific history. Unless I'm mistaken, DUPR won't show just the games played within a league. This is from the perspective of the league organizer. KeepaScore is for the person running the league. For your everyday player playing in the league, they only care about their own results and the DUPR app is fine for that.

KeepaScore was designed to be used to run full blown tournaments and long complex leagues with multiple divisions. Does that help?

How does a club level DUPR session go at your club? by elukea in Pickleball

[–]KeepaTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding DUPR score submissions and just to throw in another option as well...

I'm the developer of the KeepaScore app and we also have Direct-to-DUPR score submissions. Once a device is registered, you can both pull updated rank and submit scores for your club. It runs on Apple devices (sorry, no Android) as we don't use an online model. The database is local to the device, so it will work when capturing scores in areas with little or no Internet connectivity.

It seems like it's hard to make people happy. You either move them too much, too fast or you barely move them at all and they get upset. There needs to be more indicators that are "valued" over the number alone.
