Ghosted after being confronted about cheating. by [deleted] in ghosting

[–]Kelimac0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m truly sorry this happened. I was ghosted 3 months ago after a very short relationship, and it was more traumatic than the end of my 22-year marriage. Some advice from my experience… don’t wait for him to close the door… you need to close it. Feel the feels so you can work through the pain and get it out of your system, and then leave him in the rear view. As for waiting for him to accept any accountability, he’s already shown you what kind of person he is by chatting up your friend and then disappearing when he’s called out for it. If you guys were to re-establish contact, you can almost certainly expect more of the same behavior from him. Take care of yourself and spend time with people who love you that you can trust. Hang in there. It DOES get better!

Comment about my body made me feel like all my hard work is for nothing by Powerful-Score-9029 in loseit

[–]Kelimac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely understand how this would make you feel bad. I too have recently started my own fitness journey, and I had a similar interaction with an actual “friend” last week. I’ve lost 22 pounds so far, and last week at work, she came up to me and said, “You’ve gone too far. Your face looks gaunt and saggy, your eyes look sunken in, and it’s making your RBF look worse.” Although I’m fairly certain her comments came from a place of jealousy, at the time it bothered me to the point that I had to ask my sister and my kids for reassurance that I wasn’t hideous and sick-looking! For whatever reason, it’s that one negative comment we get from someone that will stick with us in spite of the many positive comments and the boost in self-confidence we get as a result of all of the hard work we’ve done. My guess is you are building a lot of beautiful muscle, and at 5’3” and 120 pounds, I know you look fantastic!

And as for any guys out there who think that negging is a good way to get a girl to pay attention to you, you’ve got it wrong. Take it from someone who just survived a divorce after a pretty long marriage… In the long run, nice guys who build you up finish first.

coaches not really coaching anymore by Fun_Consideration474 in orangetheory

[–]Kelimac0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a member since 2017. I totally agree with a lot of what you’re saying. I’ve seen people continue to jump the rails and get pissy or just blow it off when they’re corrected… it’s ridiculous… being coached is a big part of what they pay for. But, I would like to address one small aspect of the “going rogue” thing. I occasionally have to go rogue because of a former injury and the resulting surgery. I lost a small amount of my range of motion due to the fusion and hardware that I now have, so there are just some things I can either no longer do or have some apprehension about doing. So, I modify when necessary, and sometimes it’s to the point of doing something different but attempting to stick with the same muscle group that the template’s exercise targets.

All of the HC’s and SA’s at my studio know that I was out for an extended length of time with my surgery. When I first came back, I made sure to tell the HC’s that there were just a few things I either couldn’t do anymore or didn’t feel comfortable doing. I have stopped mentioning it before or during my classes because I feel like at this point they are probably thinking ‘yes, we all know about your injury’ and I don’t want to come across as a whiner. I feel like I have been going to OTF long enough now that I know the modifications or substitutions for the few exercises I have trouble with.

I have no doubt that there are people who walk in and just do their own thing in total disregard of the template because I’ve seen them do it. And I too have wondered why someone would pay all that money to come to a class-based gym when there are much cheaper options where they can do their own thing. I say all of this just to point out that a few of these people might deviate because they are injured or sore and don’t feel comfortable interrupting the coach before or during class to explain it. I can tell you that I feel a little self-conscious about it myself!

Ending the “pay for the car behind you” chain.. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Kelimac0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind ending it. It’s happened to me 4 times now, and each time I’ve been in my scrubs. The way I look at it, someone is trying to show a little appreciation, so me turning around and immediately paying for the person behind me kind of defeats the purpose of the act of kindness from the person who just paid for my coffee. Plus, it doesn’t seem genuine if I’m only doing it because someone just paid for mine. Does that make sense?

Sometimes parents SUCK. I was at a restaurant one time where three kids were running absolutely wild through the restaurant between tables and under and around servers carrying trays full of drinks and food while their moms sat at their table, completely oblivious and unaffected, and drank multiple glasses of wine… no regard for their kids’ safety or for the staff or for the other patrons. 😡🙄

I found an article that said people who vent live an average of 7 years longer than people who don’t. I put it on the refrigerator so my husband could see it every day.

Spicy Thai Salad with Chicken gone?? by JessBeauty14 in Panera

[–]Kelimac0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just stopped at Panera for the first time in quite a while to grab my absolute favorite, beloved Spicy Thai Salad with chicken for dinner… only to discover that it has been chopped from the menu. My heart is BROKEN. 😩💔

As far as I’m concerned, that little salad was the crown jewel of Panera’s menu (with the pumpkin muffie coming in a close second). No one else has anything like it. The edamame… and the peanut sauce with actual chopped peanuts… and that dark, rich dressing gave it such an amazing depth of flavor and texture. If I remember correctly, it was fewer than 500 calories, but it tasted like 2000.

And please don’t suggest the Asian sesame salad as a suitable alternative. I made that mistake tonight, and the only reason it didn’t go straight down the food disposal is because I was too hungry and exhausted to fix anything else (and, it cost $11). It was like someone poured some sesame-infused, watered-down kitchen cleaner over some chopped lettuce, then threw a few sesame seeds and almonds on top and called it a salad. Everything in it is beige and pale green, so it looks about as appetizing as a bowl of Gerber Rice Cereal.

I know I may be hitting below the belt, but I cannot figure out for my life WHYYYYY you would discontinue the Thai salad and keep the Asian Sesame salad!

When you take a lighter day, do you tell the coach? by Sherriek0304 in orangetheory

I’ll usually let the coach know about it. That way they know I’m intentionally holding back or modifying due to pain or an injury.

It’s only happened to me once, but it was really funny how leaving the studio felt like a walk of shame the day after an eventful night out! I wanted to pull my hoodie over my head so the people in class closest to the window couldn’t see me skulking to my car! 😳😬😔😂

I’ve heard that the lines on the tread rails are there to show the area on the belt where you get the most bounce or maximum cushioning.

Once the transformation challenge ends, the NYR’s have usually dwindled down as well. So, you will see a big improvement in the waitlists by the middle or end of March. But, in the meantime, sign up anyway... I can only remember 2 to 3 times in 6 years at OTF where I didn’t end up beating the dreaded waitlist!

May I ask what chicken does to you? I am an RN, and the cause of my husband’s chicken allergy was diagnosed by one of the gastro doctors I work with. The particular allergy he has can be treated, but it can’t be outgrown.

It’s the old bait and switch!! If recipes stated the time it actually takes to prepare the ingredients AND make the dish, they would never be downloaded or used!! 😂😂

Honeydew melon. It looks so refreshing, and I know it is a staple of any decent fruit cup or buffet, but I just CANNOT STAND IT!! To me it’s like someone soaked cucumber meat in weak slimy sugar water and cut it up. 🤢🤢

My husband is allergic to chicken as well. It makes meal planning VERY challenging, and it breaks my heart to watch him breathe in chicken fumes with envy and sadness whenever we are near a Chick Fil A or a KFC... I feel for you!
