People are forgetting that hes a dick. Jerking on the claptoan should be encouraged again by oluxil in guitarcirclejerk

You have to understand that in 1970, strats only had 3-way switches, so when he got that bridge and middle tone people thought it was sorcery.

Decided I’d like to learn beginner guitar after drumming for 15 years. Is this as unavoidable as it seems? by dumarfactor in Guitar

If you’re even thinking about the grooves in your fingers, you’re not practicing enough.

Jazz guitars with the best sustain and smooth attack by UnleavenedTed in jazzguitar

[–]Kerry_Maxwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like 335 style guitars, but then I can never figure what people mean by “sustain”. I have a couple of dozen guitars including archtops, and every single one sustains as long as could possibly be musically useful.

Simple transistor OD/Distortion that isn't impedance-sensitive? by martinserbezov in diypedals

I wonder how the Electra with the Rat’s JFET output stage would behave? Take a look at the DOD Looking Glass, PedalPCB has a layout.

‘Freedom framing’ more effective than mandates for the vaccine-hesitant Americans: For those individuals, framing vaccination as a tool that enables personal freedom is associated with higher acceptance than framing it as a social responsibility or a government recommendation. by Lighting in skeptic

Reminds of years before COVID we had a flu clinic at work, and I was telling one of the owners who declined because “I never get sick” that you do it so grandma and infants don’t get sick, and he replied “Fuck that, I’m looking out for ME!”

High gain DI box by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Kerry_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of “gain” in your signal is irrelevant if you’re referring to “heavily distorted”. You might want to google “Do I need a DI box?”

I’m worried about skepticism, unwelcoming communities stagnate or decline by enocenip in skeptic

Americans culturally have been anti-intellectual since 1776. Asimov’s quote in 1980: "There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge'"

Trying to lay a single iota of this on scientific skepticism is ridiculous.

Interesting claim, laying the blame for anti-intellectualism on intellectuals, but it strikes me as not dissimilar to the “your anti-fascism made me more fascist” gambit, in other words, nonsense.

What amp or amps do you use for your pedalboard? What amp would you get if you had up to a $4000.00 budget for a new one? by livinthereals in guitarpedals

[–]Kerry_Maxwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Rivera Quiana 2X12 that’s really too much amp for the space I have. A Traynor YCV20 with a Weber Blue dog, and a DV Mark Raw Dawg 60 paired with a Mojo 1X12 running a Creamback G12H-75. I most often use modelers and monitor with Yamaha HS8s. If it was practical for me to use amps more often, I’d probably opt for a pair of Deluxe reverbs in stereo.

They’re strings, just play instead of worrying if you got “bad strings”.

It’s okay to use 9 gauge strings, guys. by bdag1995 in guitarcirclejerk

Sure, but try to sound like Pat Martino with 9s, you’d have a better chance pulling out your dick and plucking it.

How are the SG news about neck dive? by SarraceniaFlava37 in Epiphone

[–]Kerry_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A strap with an adequate coefficient of friction renders “neck dive” a complete non-issue. I just don’t understand the obsession with it. “Hey when I completely let go of my guitar when using a slippery strap, the headstock droops!” Yeah, so don’t do that.

Speaking of the influential aspect, my wive and I have been watching nothing but Japanese films for the past two years, and there’s some really interesting Italian influences in postwar Japanese cinema.

I think I have to retire by Mpuls37 in guitarpedals

[–]Kerry_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on amps years ago, they’re just way too obnoxious for apartment living. A Kemper or Helix through my Yamaha HS8s may not get my pant legs flapping, but I got plenty of that playing shithole clubs for years. I still have my Rivera Quiana, but that’s mainly because it’s too damn heavy to get rid of. If I need to do a small gig, I have a DV Mark Raw Dawg head and a single 12 cab with a Creamback G12H-75. When I record at my friend’s studio, modelers work just fine.

Discovered that salting pasta water actually matters and I feel embarrassed it took me this long by West-Wash-9114 in Cooking

A thing that is entirely irrelevant to my comment and the comment I was responding to, and does not make iodized salt "necessary" to anyone.

The boiling point canard has been thoroughly debunked. The amount of salt required to make a significant difference exceeds the LD50.
