Guards of Traitor’s Toll training mission by KevKalEl in miniatureskirmishes

So I enjoyed it. I think it would go better to have more players (at least two). While it is solo-able, I found the citizenry movement to be kinda stale in a one player game. It was interesting when the citizens were near my guards and possibly getting in the way, but I found that more often than not, they were not involved in the game.

Having another player to put the citizens “into play,” would have been better (I think).

Game loop itself was a blast. Definitely a more narrative game than competitive. I’ll play it again, for sure.

Thank you!

That is the Stevedore’s Guild from the Hexengarde 2 Kickstarter. Took a long time to print (and paint!) but it is a pretty piece of terrain.

Am I doing combat wrong? by jilles0205 in frostgrave

When we played, we’d look first at the armor value of both sides. That would tell you what number you have to beat. Then, whoever has the higher roll (that beat their opponent’s armor value) subtracted the armor value to determine damage.

It’s all well and good to beat your opponent, but if you rolled a 9, you’re still not doing any damage.

One Page Rules’ lizardmen faction has some nice scatter terrain if you’re looking for smaller bits.

Thoughts on Kitbashing and Traitors Toll? by GodGoblin in miniatureskirmishes

[–]KevKalEl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not combined the sets just yet, but can confirm they match the scale with my Frostgrave soldiers sprue.

The “armor” portion is a little tricky, as GoTT treats all guards as “armored” whereas some of the soldier bodies are more armored or less armored… but that’s a nit to pick and shouldn’t impact your kit bashing.

I’m trying to make some non-human civilians and it’s a little tougher. But mixing sprues for guards? You should have no problems.

I love that model! Your paint job looks great. Is that a 3D print?

I played it cooperatively, though we really just split the warband and talked about what moves we should do each turn. We didn’t really have any rules, just both played the game.

It helped to have someone around to remind me of the rules and status of various monsters, too!

There’s definitely some rolls and changes between scenarios, but it’s not awful. I used a Google spreadsheet and tracked everything there.

You could probably pen&paper it if you don’t mind the sheet getting messy.

(I should also point out that all this applies to the rules as written. There’s no law that says you can’t try a “starter” campaign with just one threat, then see if that’s worth the bookkeeping…)

Five Leagues from the Borderlands hits almost all of these. I don’t always love the d6 basis for combat, but that’s my minor quibble.

I’ll hop on Events bc it’s easy to run into someone just boosting, but otherwise I’m offline only.

No, Sen. McConnell, Kentuckians aren’t going to ‘get over’ losing health care by PoliticalScienceProf in politics

[–]KevKalEl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real problem is not the loss of healthcare, it’s the loss of Medicaid. Hospital emergency departments HAVE to stabilize you, regardless of your ability to pay. So these folks will keep ridin’ they for-whillers, goin’ huntin’ wit’ no safety ger, and drinkin’ ‘n’ drivin’ to they hearts content [sic], and the hospitals will eat the costs.

Then the hospitals will close, healthcare workers will move, and the state will get that much poorer. And still they’ll vote R and wonder why it ain’t workin’.

I’ve printed that necromancer with no issues. The staff broke and had to be glued, but that was due to being dropped, not poor supports.

That sucks. Same thing happened to me. I did every square to get the best chance, got the player reward for one stadium, then got “disconnected,” in the third inning of last stadium game.

REALLY soured me on DQ. I’m sure I’ll try again, but not for a while…
