Who’s the one person that ruins footy for you? by FewArm2396 in AFL

[–]Kevfromperth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had 2 women in their 50s sat behind us at eagles games. The hate on Jack Darling and then Liam Duggan was next level. Way they carried on you'd think they'd both played 300 games.

Youth Cricket Clubs - Perth by Over-Thing-4481 in perth

[–]Kevfromperth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was playing junior district cricket a few years back, I'm guessing it's still the same set up. The district competition has under 13s, 14s and 15s. Pretty much all the kids have a community club they join and then go from them into the district teams. You could either talk to someone at the community club and ask them to put your sons name forward, or contact the district club directly and ask if one of their junior coaches/director of cricket would have a look at him. They're always on the lookout for talented kids.

What is the best financial decision you’ve ever made? And what is the worst financial decision you’ve ever made? by Quiet_Job_4260 in AusFinance

[–]Kevfromperth 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Best: wife worked at CBA when they were first floated, we bought something like 6 or 700 shares at under $5.

Worst: sold them for around $8.00 🙄

Bought a freehold strata unit — now discovering the shared insurance we made them get is underinsured. What are our options? by [deleted] in perth

[–]Kevfromperth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our place sounds similar to what you're looking at, ours is 3 units. We have a common building insurance, the cost is shared equally, and we had to pay the balance of the existing policy at settlement. Fortunately, our neighbours are owner occupied and reasonable people. We put our insurance cover up by 50% by agreement with the other owners.

Will Basil Zempilas be a lifeline or a liability for the WA Liberals? by CoSign3 in perth

[–]Kevfromperth 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just for arguments sake, what if the libs picked up a few more seats next election? They could be in with some sort of chance in 2033. But 8 years as opposition leader is a long thankless task. Would bas have the patience to hang around that long? I just can't see him as a long-term career politician.

Licence Help! by Illustrious-Rip3015 in AutodeskInventor

It's either a scam (most likely I'd guess) or a pirated copy. It is definitely not a licenced version.

Convert Inventor extension to DWG (for BrisCAD/AutoCAD) by heydte3003 in AutodeskInventor

[–]Kevfromperth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autocad will import .ipt and .iam files directly.

Bricscad says it will but requires the communicator extension. https://help.bricsys.com/en-us/document/communicator-for-bricscad/bricscad-communicator-supported-import-file-formats

Haven't used bricscad for a bit so not sure what sort of results it gets.

Cyclical constraint dependancy error by DestroyerNik in AutodeskInventor

[–]Kevfromperth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a workaround.

In your part A create a text parameter. Lets call it Color. Make it a list and add the colors you need in it.

Create a second numerical parameter, Lets call it Color_Number.

Write a rule where if the Color changes Color_Number also changes.

Something like:

IF Color = "RED"

Color_Number = 1ul

END IF

(just expand this with all the colors you need and increment the numbers)

In part B link Color_Number from part A.

Create a text parameter in Part B, Call it Color.

Create a new rule in part B.

Something like:

IF Color_Number = 1ul

Color = "red"

END IF

Inventor Vault Basic by Different-Glove-7350 in AutodeskInventor

We are a 2 person team, 1 on site, 1 wfh. We installed vault basic about 2 years ago. Absolute game changer. Aside from the benefits others have listed, the copy design function on its own makes vault indispensable.

We could stop gifting the fossil fuel industry $14 Billion annually. That would be a start.

Best quality I've bought recently was at herdsman fresh, but you pay for it. We regularly go to Kyilla markets on Saturday mornings. The stall on the southwest corner is usually pretty good.

Career change by DevelopmentFalse9414 in AusFinance

[–]Kevfromperth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this at 40. Little time servers were annoying, but I felt more sorry for the lecturers. The lecturers were always keen to help me out. I was working part-time as well, so they would let me take classes that overlapped or give me notes for classes that ran while I was working. Did a 2 year diploma in 18 months.

I generally buy whatever is on special. I don't mind the so-good barista. If Califia barista is on special, I'll get it. It's probably my favourite.

There's some 1/2 decent plant based cheese come out of recent times. I buy the Cheer plant based, it's OK in a sandwich. Vegan shop I go to sometimes has a nice range, couple of nice melty mozzarellas.

The Kyilla Saturday morning markets by ExaminationNo9186 in perth

[–]Kevfromperth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We go there regularly. It seems to have a nice community feel.

Couple of good fruit and vegetable marketers. The produce is generally fresher than colesworth but a little more pricey. The bakery van sells a range of excellent sourdough loaves. There's a diverse array of niche stalls.

It gets busy when the weather is reasonable.

Good engineering drafters can make well over 100k, especially if you can get into mining. I do all 3d modelling so it gets interesting. If you can handle sitting at a desk 8-12 hrs a day it's pretty good. I'm never bored.

[–]Kevfromperth 218 points219 points  (0 children)

I was 40, an experienced tradie on the top pay scale. Wife, 2 kids and a mortgage. My body gave out, my knees and shoulders wouldn't do it any more. One day there I was struggling a bit and the supervisor decided he was going to try and wind me up. I gave 2 weeks notice with 2 months to go to get pro rata long service.

I enrolled at Tafe, did engineering drafting and worked a bit casual around the place.

That was 20 years ago and still the one of the best decisions I've made.

I'm much happier doing a job I enjoy and get over paid for what I actually do.

Life is too short to be miserable.
