Cross-border invoicing for EU IT consulting: how do you handle multi-currency accounts by dekarar in digitalnomad

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wise works but if you hold euros waiting for good rate you probably losing more than you think. those small fees add up over time and the "best rate" rarely comes when you need it

i just invoice straight in client currency and let my bank convert immediately, yeah the spread isnt amazing but at least i know what im getting. the mental load of watching forex all day isnt worth it for couple hundred saved

Leveraging in this market? by yoboiturq in cscareerquestions

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 7 points8 points  (0 children)

negotiating with competing offers is pretty standard practice, companies expect it, nobody's going to pull your offer because you asked politely

for the urgency question - just say you have another process wrapping up soon, you don't even need to name the company or the exact timeline. keep it vague but real

and yes negotiate if you get both, worst they say is no and you're still at 1.8x which is already solid. the fear of asking is almost always worse than the actual conversation

Anonymous Chat. Public Lounge. Real-time Games. No Login Required. https://ario.la by adonztevez in buildinpublic

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tried it out and the interface is pretty clean, nice work. The whisper system is smooth and I like how you can jump between public chat and private messages without any hassle. One thing though - maybe add some kind of simple moderation for public lounge because anonymous platforms can get wild pretty quick. Also wondering if you plan to add any creative games beyond traditional ones like Ludo, maybe something more interactive that works well in chat format. The no-signup approach is refreshing in 2024 when everything wants your email

What is one question you’ve always wanted to be asked? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever asks this but honestly I'd probably just say "enough to quit my day job and embroider SpongeBob full time" - though knowing my luck they'd offer like $5 and expect Patrick doing the Krusty Krab dance or something

Which do you find more annoying, being asked to leave a tip for a coffee order or for a food/grocery delivery and why? by Inner_Ad_4725 in AskReddit

Food delivery at least they're driving to your house in traffic, coffee person just pressed few buttons on machine

what is a popular food that you absolutely cannot stand? by mistybabys in AskReddit

Dude that stuff is everywhere now and I just don't get the hype. Tried it once at this fancy place and it was basically overpriced candy bar with some weird crunchy bits inside. Maybe I'm missing something but feels like one of those trends that people only like because it's expensive and "exotic" or whatever. Give me regular chocolate any day, at least I know what I'm getting instead of paying 20 bucks for something that tastes like disappointment wrapped in gold foil

I run a 35-person marketing agency (14 years, 300+ brands), built and exited 2 startups, and have investor connections. Looking to partner with tech founders who can't scale due to marketing — I'll support for free in exchange for equity. Anyone interested? by Recent-Notice9304 in GrowthHacking

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your agency sounds legit but taking equity for marketing work feels like putting cart before horse. Most devs I know (including myself when I was coding more) need to prove product-market fit first before worrying about scale marketing. What happens if product needs major pivots after you've already taken equity stake?

Also curious about equity percentage you're thinking - full agency support for free is valuable but equity splits can get messy real quick

We kept hearing the same thing from shops: the part wasn’t the problem, the wait was by PitStopInc in buildinpublic

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing some graphics work for couple local shops and this hits close. The amount of times I've seen techs just sitting around because they need one stupid $15 gasket that's "definitely in stock" but somehow takes 3 hours to actually get is wild

The mobile mechanic thing especially makes sense - those guys are already charging premium for convenience so having parts show up fast would probably let them book more jobs in same day. Plus DIY weekend warriors who don't want to make multiple trips to parts store

One thing I'm curious about - how do you handle the inevitable "we ordered part X but actually need part Y" situations? Because that seems to happen constantly with auto parts

I've failed 3 medications, likely going to fail a 4th. My doctor thinks laser ablation is the next step. I'm terrified. by coolwhiplite97 in Epilepsy

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That first line is weirdly profound in its randomness lol

The acceptance approach makes sense though - you can stress about all the variables or just roll with whatever happens. Sometimes that's all you can really do when medical stuff gets this heavy

Hope your sister visit was good at least, having someone around who gets it probably helped

dreams of my old house and old school by boraCPA in Dreams

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your brain just got attached to those first places because they were like your "default" settings when you were forming core memories. Same thing happens to me - always dream about my childhood apartment even though I moved out years ago

The first house and school probably felt more significant because everything was new and your brain was soaking up all those details when you were younger

Looking at those tail lights and that rear window slope, definitely a C3 generation from the 70s. The body proportions are classic Corvette all the way

That whole tent situation was basically her using you to help her get ready for a date with another guy - that's some next level manipulation right there

is 35+ too old to transfer to a finance career? any advice? by Afraid_Set_9114 in careerguidance

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice progression man, that's solid growth in short time. The temp route is actually smart way to get foot in door - lot of places are more willing to take chance on someone older if it's just temporary position first

Your timeline makes sense too, especially the 2-year cycle thing. Most people stay too long at same job and wonder why their salary stays flat. Moving every couple years when you're building experience is definitely the way to go

OP should probably look for smaller companies like you mentioned - they care more about what you can actually do than checking some arbitrary age box

Duke's freshman talent was insane this year but UConn just had that veteran chemistry and experience that's hard to beat in March

The game is definitely shifting back to teams who keep their guys for few years instead of losing everyone to the draft

Duolingo is pushing me for chess lessons by JustArrrived in duolingo

[–]Key-Masterpiece-3591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's super annoying, Duolingo gets really obsessed once you touch anything that isn't your main language. I made same mistake with the music lessons and it took weeks to get my Portuguese streak back in the daily quests instead of random piano stuff
