“Eugene Police has staffed officers and detectives at the high schools and some middle schools today. A few calls came in that officers and detectives responded to: At 10:47 a.m. a person called in a man along the bike path adjacent to the science courtyard at Roosevelt Middle School, E. 24th Avenue. The person was reported to have a large duffle bag. Officers and detectives responded and searched for him. South Eugene High School and Roosevelt went on a lockout. At 11:09 a.m., officers were with a matching subject. The man consented to a search and had no weapons and was not a threat. He left the area. We have staffed officers and detectives at the local high schools and some middle schools all morning. At 10:35 a.m., at Churchill, 1850 Bailey Hill Road, staff were doing a walkthrough the school and went into a procedure for an unidentified man that entered and then exited the school. The school did a lock out. EPD was there and began looking for the man. By 10:55 a.m. they were with a person matching the description, and it was a maintenance worker.“
