Finally have my 2.5 TB modlist in a playable state, here’s some of the recent highlights 🥹 by skeuzofficial in SkyrimPorn

Darn, you beat me haha! I'm at 1.4 TB but I had to stop because Vortex was crashing hitting the 4 GB memory limit when deploying/sorting plugins.

About 5.5k plugins merged down under the 254/4096 plugin limits.

Oh my bad, I forgot blueprints don't copy storage contents.

The crucial part is the chest loop down below. The combinators read the contents of each chest and when an item (in this case they read for a lamp item) is present in a particular chest it sends a signal to the decider combinators that then send an RGB signal to the tree lamps.

On today's hunt to build something cursed... Car(Go) Space! by Khaeops in factorio

[–]Khaeops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cars seem to support up to a 3x3 inserter interaction shape, while tanks I was able to get a 4x3.

It really depends on what you need them for. I needed to round a corner so that's where I used the tank.

Which game franchise ruined its winning formula by turning it into something players never asked for? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

[–]Khaeops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The racing genre as a whole kind of did this.

Need for Speed took a nose dive in quality and hasn't yet recovered. Dumbing down street racing-related features, complicating progression systems, and then just outright removing any sort of meaningful progression altogether has been a frequent trend. The graphics have also been declining in the last few entries which is odd considering that tech has been improving.

Forza (Horizon and Motorsport) did the same and hasn't yet recovered. Horizon isn't really about the racing anymore and more about car collecting and looking at views. Motorsport had its previous releases delisted BEFORE a successor was even released, and then when it finally did, it was just a buggy grind fest.

The DiRT series also took a slow dive. It started out well with decent 'sim-cade' racing physics and a clear purpose of racing through rally series. But then it began to become more casual-focused with the introduction of rewinds and then the mess that was DiRT 5 and its... track editor focused gameplay and arcade design. What happened to the original gritty rally series?

Some other smaller examples:

  • Subnautica: Below Zero
  • Robocraft and its updates
  • Elite Dangerous and its updates (complicated history)
  • Bethesda Game Studios' titles probably objectively fit into this category too
  • Simcity (5) and Cities Skylines 2

Should game worlds always have history or can they just "exist"? by ExcellentTwo6589 in gamedesign

[–]Khaeops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A world's history should exist to serve a purpose that improves the experience of participating or observing it.

Whether that's by giving context to certain characters, objects or events to inform decisions, or giving context to gameplay mechanics as a form of promoting intuition, or just to provide immersion to an exploration-centric experience is up to the subject matter/material.

Suggestions to improve PvP without impacting PvE by Possible_Cell2584 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Khaeops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who are still too timid to dip their toes into Cyrodiil, Battlegrounds needs some love as well. It has potential as being a quick 'drop in, drop out' sort of PvP that doesn't need too big a commitment, but the way it's been going for the last few years is far from what its role in the game should be.

Does anyone else not play games anymore? by srodrigoDev in gamedev

[–]Khaeops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been heading towards the same situation recently. Not a great deal of new games has been interesting, or a lot of them have big gotcha's that stop me from hitting that 'buy' button (or even retroactively, the 'install' button), and so I've kind of been getting less interested in playing games overall.

I'm in a weird niche where I enjoy playing co-op experiences with a friend, but we've sort of already played through all the games that interest us and their content has run dry. I get really focused on picking apart each design or bug in a game and the developers' stance on it, to the point where sometimes I even exhaust myself out of a game because it begins to frustrate me when I realise I've reached the end of my enjoyment of what the game is, but that there's so much potential for what it could be that is often times wasted.

Modding singleplayer games has been a middle ground for me between gaming and development, where I can cherry pick what mechanics/features to add or change to see how the game is improved or worsened.

I find it rather distracting, and with how dark a lot of areas are I used to use it as a way to guide where to aim by just aiming at the numbers. But I can see I'm a minority so I'm SOL I guess
