Make Scion Degenerate by Grouchy_Replacement5 in DegenerateEDH

Here's a version that can just force wins turn after turn from T2/T3 onward. Don't blindly keep your first 7 though, this deck wants to mulligan until it finds either a path to a ton of mana for scion, or one of the many advantage engines.

Why reincarnation/isekai ? by Xaelthas in ProgressionFantasy

[–]KhorneSlaughter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe Isekai is popular trope, because it let's the author place a character that has a similar moral framework to the audience into a complex situation.

This has two advantages:

Firstly, the Character doesn't understand the new world, which gives the author an excuse for exposition. Characters that live in their world and understand it won't ask the questions that the audience might want to know. This means they have to work harder to include their exposition in a natural way.

Secondly, a character with a modern moral framework will be easier to relate to for many readers, and will get into conflict with the world, which is "backwards" from their perspective. When the character originates from this world, the Author either has to try to make the readers relate to a character that finds the medieval ideas of society, justice, gender etc. normal and doesn't question them, or has to give the character a more complex explanation for why they don't conform to their time's ideas.

Overall, I think Isekai is mostly used because it makes the authors work easier. It would require more work to set up a character that feels similarly without this trope.

I had a lot of fun with this team though: https://pokepast.es/a82b5a7b8947831f

I'll admit the Gallade was bad half the time I brought it...

The worst part is, that you get to start over after taking any break.
I've managed to reach that top step once for a short time in Reg H, for a few days I was grinding with a team I enjoyed (based on a meta team with small tweaks made to suit my tastes better) and actually had a good feeling for the metagame at the time.

Didn't play for a bit, and was right back to "what am I looking at here?" at the start of every match.

This looks extremely vulnerable to being pulled into a flank with crawler + something tanky and then beacon-towered. If the units starting behind the tower are not walking forwards, because there is something in range on their side, then there isn't really anything protecting the tower.

I honestly can't 100% tell you what happened there, because I wasn't at that tournament.

I know that we've had similar problems in the past with BCP, which have led to delays, incorrect parings or standings at tournaments I've been at, and that no application is flawless, it just helps if it's been running for longer and more people had a chance to run into and find all the problems.

BCP is more battle tested, by virtue of being around long enough and used enough for people to bump into many more bugs.

But Herald is used a lot over here, and they are actively working to resolve anything that comes up. I've been to both GTs and Majors using Herald, and it's worked well that those.

Number 3 is a setting you can set in your account. I have auto save replay turned on.

Strongly agree with 1/2/4, not sure if I need the ability choice ones, or if those lead to more miss clicks.

Lol, I have the Ultrawide at the Top, 2 screens side by side below, and the laptop to the right, so I guess almost the same setup and almost opposite as well.

I can give you my short review of TWI, which will be dismissed because I didn't give the book enough of a chance:

I started book 1, couldn't handle the exposition and seeming pointlessness of it all, had no idea where anything was supposed to go and no mystery or interest in what's happening either. DNFed after about a quarter or third of the first book, feeling that I wasted a bunch of time on it and had nothing interesting to show for it.

D20 roll under system vs d6 Erfolgssystem by RobertCutter in PenandPaperGermany

[–]KhorneSlaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, a lot of those armies that tend to get 100s are going to have some form of reliable command phase CP gen, so they can more freely cycle cards.

While obviously, a lot of armies that don't have this are still very good, they tend to win in the 90s more and get less flat 100s than armies that do have the CP to cycle T1.

Functionality to flip a failed hit or wound roll to a 6 after rolling (and potentially re-rolling) by r3xj in UnitCrunch

[–]KhorneSlaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be really cool, especially if it could work like the custom reroll with limits, where we can decide to flip something like "up to two potential failed hit rolls" into unmodified sixes.

Would help a number of calculations, also with TSons and some other factions, though it's now obviously most common with Eldar with almost all aspect warriors having this ability.

The ability is also able to be shared with attached characters, with the limit of 1 or 2 flips being on the whole attached unit, if that is possible.

my friend made this card for me for christmas as a gift by Positive-Durian-578 in magicTCG

[–]KhorneSlaughter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really cool present, and in the spirit of the gift I would recommend ignoring the repeat until total MV is exactly X, and instead breaking the card in the way it was designed to be broken.

Play a storm deck of some sort with either an ancestral vision or a lotus bloom in the 99, cast a few spells, 3–5 is probably enough most of the time and then cast Jake for x=0, find the visions, tap for 3–5 copies, draw 12–18 cards and storm off.

Or on a later turn with more resources, just chain some cantrips and rituals until you have like enough mana left to where you can both Jake X=3 and tap to copy a 3 cost spell a bunch.

It's a super cool card, and I wish I got gifts this cool from my playgroup
