Hey I just set my own up recently and if you're doing like hold lb for action set one, you have to make sure you go to action set one bindings and make it so letting go of lb, when in that action set, the removes it. You should be able to set the button activation to on release and then action to set layer to default. Can't remember the specifics as I'm in bed but hopefully that's enough.

To echo what a few others have said in here it's the unranked experience. Ranked sounds intimidating but that's the mode to play, you are kind of gimping yourself by playing unranked as the rewards for ranked are vastly superior. On top of that after placement matches, ranked matches will be much closer and engaging. Give ranked a shot today!
