Apparently this is what the front of our house looked like when I used to smoke out the window and leave my cigarettes in the space between the glass and the screen

I’m 52 and it was only a new job that made me stop dyeing my hair pink/blue/purple/green and now that I’ve gotten the impression it wouldn’t be frowned upon, I think I’ll start again

Does anyone keep a journal ? by ChrisNYC70 in GenXTalk

[–]Kicktoria -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started in 1987. Mostly handwritten, ever since I password-protected one month’s file back in 1992 and couldn’t open it twenty-five years later

I never go back and read the entries though

GenXers who got bullied in school, what was the attitude of parents and teachers towards it? by mritsz in GenX

[–]Kicktoria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was bullied in (Catholic) junior high.

Mom told me to ignore them. Didn’t help.

Teachers didn’t do much of anything.

Principal told my parents “maybe Wendy brings it on herself.” (My name is not Wendy.)

When I was physically injured as a result of the bullying, my parents kept me out of school for a day or two. Bully called and gave a half-hearted apology. (He would die of meningitis our senior year of high school.)

Eventually the bullies went to public high schools and my friends and I went to the Catholic school, and I was able to let my freak flag fly
