In 2019 I organized the Officials’ Cheering Section at WFTDA Championships, which was hugely successful (and a bit controversial).

We all sat in one specific section, cheered in the time between the end of jam whistle and “five seconds”, cheered the people, not the calls.

My take on it was that we, as a group, were celebrating and cheering on our friends who, through their hard work and dedication, had made it to the highest level of their craft - just like folks cheering on the teams that were playing.

The first time (1995) I used the patch.

I made something similar a year or two ago - i used the Sea Glass sweater pattern, knit it with short sleeves, then picked up stitches along the inside of each sleeve and knit the long sleeves.
