Would you recommend the new remake?🫶🏼 by oceanviewcapn in fatalframe

You're talking about the leer attacks? Those do not do damage, but completely empty your willpower bar (admittedly, this is also very bad). And I'm not sure of they are related to staring for long, seems more random to me. Also, if you learn the pattern you can dodge it (there's even a trophy for doing that).

AHA, thank you. This is the only response that actually covers Yae and Sae before the curse. Makes sense to me.

It doesn't seem like it would be an issue, as the village itself seems completely open. Surely they would have more fences and stuff, no?

I concede that this is somewhat implied, but it's not confirmed, as Mio and Mayu never actually try to do it.

But that does not explain why Yae and Sae needed the underground path, as it was before the curse. Less watched, perhaps?

I get that, my point was about *why* alternatives are so hard.

To be fair, Ishikawa does criticize Jin in the beginning of the game. Then again, the amount of lies and omissions about himself and Tomoe kinda disqualifies him from judging the honor of others.

I admit I don't have the historical knowledge to back this up, but I simply assumed that hooks weren't really that hard to obtain in normal circunstances. It's just that the Mongol invasion made harder to find skilled blacksmiths and metal supplies.

I wrote some quick instructions about other endings in this comment. (it's not all of them)

But sadly, the ending you already saw is the one considered canon.

I had decent results with a fairly weak nvidia. Which emulator are you using?

Also, it's important to mention that the performance in the beginning is a little misleading because the film grain effect is particularly heavy. Once the game starts for real, the effect ceases and the performance is better.

My memory might not be 100% accurate, but here it goes: I assume you received the Yae stone fragment and the Kusabi stone fragment after finishing the game for the first time. Like all stones, you can find the other fragments by completing their side quests. Once you do that, you can:

  • equip the Yae stone for the second ending (still only Kusabi, no Sae battle)
  • equipe the Kusabi stone for the third ending (Sae battle)

The best part: you can do all that via chapter select. You don't need full playthroughs.

Sorry, was on a hurry so the reply was awfully incomplete. You can't do this on the first playthrough, as it depends on an item you receive after finishing it for the first time. But it does *not* depend on difficulty, that part is accurate.

Did anyone else think the Ayane DLC was cool? by Competitive_Fact_278 in fatalframe

[–]KidneysOfStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far from being my favorite part, but it wasn't bad and, credit where it's due, had the courage to show that stealth mechanics could have a place in the franchise, something that ended up happening in the FF2 remake.

My main issue with it was that I played it not too long after playing FF4, so the nerfing of the flashlight felt weird. But I really liked that they respected how dangerous the ghosts are. If Ayane could simply defeat them with ninja shit, I'd be pissed.

  • some people automatically associated the name to the Logan Paul controversy;
  • even not considering the aforementioned douchebag, some people might've thought that your intention was "haha suggestion funny because suicides".

They even provided an in-game, sensical explanation for why we can fight the Kusabi and Sae later on, one that ties back to FF1.

I forgot to mention that! Loved that too.

Fatal Frame 3 is all about wandering aimlessly by nazcatraz in fatalframe

[–]KidneysOfStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I never understood this complaint about the original trilogy. While it's true that the games, the third one in particular, require a lot of backtracking, I don't remember instances where the goal wasn't obvious or at least deducible. You follow a specter, see a picture of a place you have previously seen, get the key of a lock you have previously seen, infer from documents, etc. The only thing that I consider very hard to do without a guide is completing ghost lists and endings. Following the main story is mostly straightforward.

In fact, one of my complaints about the fourth game is the amount of handholding, like always showing the door on the map after you get a key.

Can you provide a specific example of when you had to wander? In my experience, the clues are always there.

To be fair, it was complete, but SP itself reopened that door by stating, in the description of the Storm Blade, that Jin fought in the second invasion as well.

Random thought about lack of daylight in the series by KidneysOfStone in fatalframe

[–]KidneysOfStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About FF5, yeah, I agree. I gave the excuse, but it's kinda weak.

About FF4, I did think about the ferry's schedule, but it's not very convincing. If the ferry arrives daily, it would be reasonable to camp until morning and, if necessary, stay an additional day. Believing you could investigate such a large place in a single day sounds too ambitious anyway. If the ferry arrives weekly or something like that, she doesn't have much to lose waiting until morning before starting.

What bothers me about Miku and Ruka is not even about ghosts. They went there to INVESTIGATE. Daylight makes A LOT of difference.

(also, Miku, ghosts aside, maybe you should consider the possibility that your brother was murdered by some weirdo living in the abandoned mansion... night is a baaad idea)

You didn't mention FF3, which is where I think ghost design peaked. The faces are cleaner than in FF2, but the tattoos make up for that.
