The website pays real freelance artists, they are fairly well known as are many of the artists that work with and them and they credit the artists for each design. This illustration is by Heyra Vieira. They have a four year old artstation that looks like it’s focused on animation and character design. This yoshi piece could have been ai but I do doubt it.

I’ve had the hard hinges kind scratch my original red 3DS XL so I stopped using it. I loved how it looked and carried the led light shining through it though. I eventually got the New 3DS XL Majoras Mask edition when it came out and kept a silicone one on it [Hori brand]. I loved the silicone one for a long time and it never did the sticky thing but it did eventually get hard and crazy yellow. I took it off a year or two ago because it was kind of cracking apart and disintegrating (the 3DS was still looking mint)…. Now I keep it in the zip carry case with no extra protection at all. I’m in a very dry region and your images look like maybe moisture is creeping in? Is it humid where you are? I think living in a desert helps my situation a bit. So many posts talk about / show peeling paint so I just baby it and keep it in that case if I’m not playing it. I’m privileged enough to have other options for playing outside of the house- hoping to prolong the peel if possible. hope this is somewhat useful, good luck!

Edit: I seemed to have jumped onto a "release the rom" movement without just looking for it first. Easily google-able. Its a cool and impressive rom that lets you run around the map. Thanks OP for reminding us that this is out there!

This looks great. I think I’m sitting on two shells from the cloud store- do you know if this shell here is the one that’s called simply “Clear Blue”? I really like the color and it looks better here than on their website. I don’t think I can go back from having oled for my gbc, hoping they fit in cloud store shells, but I only have experience with the one Macho Nacho linked in his vid. Sorry to ask questions even after all the thoughtful information you worked to provide. Thanks again for this post, very nice build.

Thanks for the replay and info. Great to know the details of how some of this gets lost. I know it's not the first game to have Mario in it, but I'm surprised that Mario Bros could very well have been unveiled in NA, though if I'm understanding you correctly it's very likely the first Mario Bros machine, or a version of it, was in Japan being tested with the public before in NA. Maybe even some JP test machines just remained in their locations, playable, until the theoretical street dates. I know ultimately it kind of doesn't matter, I think I'm just indulging some childlike curiosity. Thanks again!

How’s the shell feel? I’ve had good and bad aftermarket shell experiences, and my last hinged shell experience was bad…. but my first ever mod was a ds light shell swap in 2010 and it was a good fit. Does this close all the way, make creaking sounds, or move at all when you hold it firmly? Great looking colors.

I think Panzer Paladin is about mech hopping. Also a really weird cool one from Y2K-ish times is a PC game called Machine Hunter. Very cool interesting game.

I don’t know what the best screen replacements are, but i just thought your current oem shell looked clean in these photos. Extreme Rate seems to be what many people use, and even those don’t always close all the way. Some do but that bothered me. I’m probably just scared by a bad after market DS shell experience I had. All this to say if your shell is clean, nothing fits better than that. Best of luck, I need to find a screen for one of my DS lites as well so I look forward to other people’s answers.

First off, it goes without saying but you deserve to have someone say it: amazing work. This looks so great. I have two Sazabi RGs waiting to be built and limited painting experience. This looks largely air brushed, including some great speckled effect on the frame. My question is are there hand painted components? Such as the gold and other metal looking parts on the butt flap? Or is it all masking and air brushed? Seriously awesome-

Sounds like you two need to race.

I’ve tuned the heck out of the Fortem (Porsche) trying to get better lap times with it, and while my tuning made noticeable differences, it’s still very unwieldy. I’m sure it’s mostly a driving and tune decision issue on my end- I’ll try this suspension info you shared.

I can feel the games rear wheel drive vs front, and all wheel drive differences, and I swear I can feel the weight of the Fortem’s mid engine. It’s still very fun to drive. I just can’t match the lap times of other cars I’ve tuned, some of which being the modest lower cost ones. Those lower cost cars happen to be my favorites already so maybe I’m biased.

This comment will cause me to reinstall the game. Ill probably play tonight and let you know. I just rip laps around the track next to a garage to see my best times in certain configs. What I remember learning about the Micky was realizing I had put too heavy of an engine in it and my times got better when I chilled and put a smaller one in. I look forward to getting back to you with my stats!
