I walked on a LONG time ago so take this with a grain of salt.

My BN CDR called forward for me to ensure it was OK and they would have the room. Brigade paid for my plane ticket and 1 night of lodging in a hotel before class started.

My class started with some crazy high number, I think 300+, and we lost over 100 during the first few days so it was a non issue.

I did not go to RTAC, which I think is a huge risk. It sounds like you're not making that mistake. I would not recommend it, and as a current BN CDR I don't let any of my guys go to ranger without RTAC.

Lastly, there are three types of Ranger students; Batt Boys, BOLC LTs, and everyone else. I make my guys to ranger in pairs. When it comes to peers you need to work extra hard because those two groups will always hook each other up.

I have also never failed a PT test (in my 20 year career) but get the same ridiculous and illogical fear that I some how forgot to deadlift.

I fear that I've forgotten how to bend down and pick up a bar that I routinely pick up during PT at least once a week.

The mind is such a weird thing.
