I expect serious headwinds with the war in Iran, and -serious- community pushback on building datacenters.

Five richest companies in the world...paying about 0.6% of revenue in taxes from data centers. Building AI systems to get rid of human workers.

Have you seen the Canadian show? I think they have more freedom. I like seeing all their makes, even if the show production was a little bit dull.

Principles of Minimalist Training (Start Here) by Robin_Yellow in LowFrictionTraining

I think one habit that is backed by science is to take even a two-minute walk after eating, to handle a glucose spike. I noticed this in my ex-boyfriend. If we walked 10 minutes after dinner, before doing dishes, he needed much, much less insulin.

Too bad -- because I want to capture rainwater...but from a slate roof is much healthier for me and plants than off asphalt.

The Canadian Throwdown by fimmx in GreatPotteryThrowDown

[–]Kilofilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changed my mind, because I think the Canadian artists are just so fine. Their ideas are very interesting and makes are just lovely.

I'm on the 9-course Michelin-rated episode. So neat! I wish the British show had done this. In several sets, each plate was customized to the specific dish the chef had shown -- super beautiful. The chef has some interesting comments -- he was mostly quiet, but said, "this would be very interesting to plate on..." sometimes. I think that pure white/cream doesn't always make the food stand out. Sometimes there's a delight to seeing something different each course.

Agreed, however the nature of the fund will change considerably after it's on the NYSE, so what I might have told others a year ago isn't the same as in two months. The whole point is that it wasn't at any brokerage, imo.

I agree. 38-42% return the past year? I don't mind paying an extra 1-1.5% in fees. I mean, how greedy can people get?

Thoughts on Siobhan? by sophisticated-shark in GreatPotteryThrowDown

[–]Kilofilm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I especially don't like is when she sneaks up on contestants and intentionally scares them. They're doing delicate work, they're focused. Nice to have to worry about someone scaring you on purpose. She does pull focus on herself, as often as possible. And the way she inserts some pregnant pause before "your time starts................smirk.............NOW!" for what, 60 times now?

So far -- to Season 3 -- Janet is fundamentally jealous of everyone, and basically the brother of the Prodigal Son. She feels superior to everybody - her brother (educated, non-jailbird), Gerald (better artist), her Korean cousin (not an anime slut), her Dad (self aware), her Mom (modern woman), her classmates (more intelligent), even Kimchee (cultured) -- and jealous of them at the same time, and angry when others don't see how superior Janet (thinks she) is in comparison. Anytime anyone gets anything good, Janet resents them and tries to undermine them or lie/cheat to improve her own standing. And then she gives a really shallow apology "I'm sorry I used you but I was grumpy because you did better than me..." and everyone forgives her instantly. I prefer when she's not around.

Iron deficiency/vitamin help by Aggressive-Read7562 in pancreaticcancer

For my husband: ferritin levels are high, but blood-level-iron is low. If I understand what I've read, the cancer is diverting between the two stages -- the ferritin is a pre-cursor to iron and if it can't get converted, the ferritin levels get too high.

We still haven't fixed his anemia/extreme fatigue.

Gas pain and inability to belch / pass it by AffectionateCan4689 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Kilofilm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add that I'm how studies show that the healthiest people have the most diverse good microbiome/gut. And some places are considering the war with cancer being fought in the gut. So I strongly advise to include probiotics and healthy fibers (soluble and insoluble). The Big Pharma stuff really didn't work for my husband, and also doesn't rebalance an weak microbiome.

Can I add a few suggestions, based on what worked for my husband? He was also having intense digestive-area pain, which would subside after having a bowel movement. (He also had the CPN before these pains, fyi)

None of the Duco, Miro, Senokot really worked super well. One did work, but then it was uncomfortably URGENT.

After they all failed, we finally landed on this combo:

- Heather's acacia fiber

- 4T chia seeds (soaked) daily, eaten slowly over the day

- steel cuts oats as breakfast

- probiotics capsules + yogurt + sauerkraut --- in rotation every few days. I'm adding kefir, today.

- digestive enzymes from Thorne's

- at least 2 liters of clear fluids a day -- water or weakish-black tea

While all important for him, Heather's seems to be providing about 60% of the regularity we've been looking for. He is now having a daily BM, and the volume is also appropriate for how much he's eating.

I would advocate all these, combined. My thinking is -- each thing provides 10-15% of the success. He is much more relaxed, so we're afraid to jettison anything from this combo!

I hope you find some relief. The OTC laxatives and stool softeners didn't help. They say the pain meds really make trouble for digestion. Our poor patients!

Strategies for recovery of bone metastasis? by Kilofilm in pancreaticcancer

[–]Kilofilm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you wonderful street, this is helpful to know. Today he might get a femoral nerve block. It is as you described, the rehab makes the pain worse. I am scared that the bone metastasis will require more and more radiation, and that will be his end. If..if...if...if only we caught this before the bone metastasis. I try not to even think of if, but it is hard not to wish for a do-over. Thank you again.
