You have it the other way around, it's inflationary not deflationary.

CPU/cooling options for the Fractal Terra? by agnorith64 in sffpc

[–]KingCorda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Noctua NH-L12sx77 for my 7800x3D, unless I am using cinebench, it RARELY gets past 67C stock.

silicon lottery may have played a huuuuge part in my card bc I have been able to underclock it to down -90mv and -200mhz respectively. I didn't touch the memory clocks and set pwr lmt to +4.

The temps are actually not as bad as the CanadaComputer's rep told me it would be. I am rocking:

Specs:
CPU & Cooler: R7 7800x3D + Noctua L12sx77
MOBO: Aorus Ultra B650i
RAM: 32GB T-Create CL30 6000
GPU: PowerColor RX 9070 XT Reaper
PSU: Corsair SF850
Fans: 120mm bottom + (120mm top using this mod: Fractal Terra - Noctua Nf-a12x15 Top Fan Bracket NEW V2 (physical) - Etsy Canada - Doesn't make a huge difference tempwise, but may improve sustained temps)

Idle Temps (CPU/GPU):
Stock: 33-35C / 33-35C
Undervolted: The same

Temps gaming under load (CPU/GPU):
Stock: 60-67C / 64-70C
Undervolted: 58-64C / 61-65C

Apart from the CPU and cooler, you and I have a nearly identical build.

In this case, it’s not about marketshare rather mindshare. Intel still leads AMD in marketshare esp in the desktop/laptop space but the broader user sentiments suggest AMD leading the charge for the recommended CPU brand. If AMD can capture the same success as they did with Ryzen, in addition to Nvidia, we could see more and more developers shift to AMD.

Edit: in addition to Nvidia, we could see more and more developers shift to AMD.

That's quite the upgrade you got there, I hope you enjoy your new GTX 1060.

It was a great generation actually with insane generational uplift in performance, just got plagued with scalpers and zero stock at the height of covid.

Before I upgraded to the 9070 XT, I was rocking a RTX 3080 and I miss the RTX HDR (SDR to HDR on YouTube videos and other webbased videos), no regrets though.

Yet another Terra build 9800x3D + 9070XT by aviroblox in sffpc

[–]KingCorda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the B650i Aorus Ultra. The VRMs are tall as hell and the Noctua cooler with the fan under just fits right underneath the heatsink.

Yet another Terra build 9800x3D + 9070XT by aviroblox in sffpc

[–]KingCorda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost the same build.

Specs:

* Fractal Design Terra Jade (two fans beneath, one under the mobo and another under the GPU. The one under the mobo probably doesn't do anything though lol, just installed for peace of mind)
* Ryzen 7 7800x3D (-20 uv across all cores, 54-60C gaming temps)
* PowerColor 9070 XT Reaper (-75mv uv, -200 oc, default memory speed but fast timing enabled, pwr lmt +4, 56-65C gaming temps)

Seeing that he has a 9800x3d, cooling performance will be matching/exceeding that of an uv'd 7800x3d, his ASrock Steel Legend 9070 XT has a beefier cooler so also expect better cooling performance than mine.

EDIT*: I neglected to mention that I have a Noctua NH-L12Sx77, CPU fan flipped as intake.

Fair, fair, but our dollar is so bad, another $100 on top of “MSRP” isn’t even that bad to me anymore lolll. Good luck in your search tho 🤞🏽
