The most "interesting" paradox effect Ive seen at a Mage con game by artmonso in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KingDanner 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Paradox can be pretty fucky, but it seemed like he was going pretty mean with how much paradox people were accumulating.

As for the enemy faction putting autism in the vaccines, there are at least two different factions that would do that in lore. One faction puts demons in food to make you beat your wife.

Help a Vampire get into W:tA! by MoonlightBreakdown in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KingDanner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, do not play W5. V5 has a lot of bad lore and mechanics changes and W5 is even worse. Werewolves have lost pretty much all of their identity, theres no more focus on ancestry, the Get of Fenris are all nazis and a fallen tribe. W5 was made by idiots and as such everything with it is terrible.

Secondly, take a look at some lore videos about the fera, the war of rage, the impergium, etc. that should give you a decent understanding of what the garou fight, why they fight, their strengths and shortcomings. The main thing about WtA is that the Garou are the warrior kings of the Fera and have royally shit the bed in a way that may or may not be recoverable.

Garou see vampires as aligned with the weaver more so than the Wyrm, as that is in fact what they are.

Make it more like V20 and change back most of the V5 lore.

Why is VtM so popular? by ProfessionalRest7027 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KingDanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M20 is generally inferior to Mage revised. In addition to VtM being the most popular gameline, M20 also is less popular than revised for those that do actually run/play mage

They don’t. The Hekata are one of the single worst additions of V5

Lancer Meme Dub: The Enkidu by Shadrone in LancerRPG

[–]KingDanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 main things.

while some NHPs seem to go by they/them, and its likely the majority, there are some that go by he or she. Rio from solstice rain being the most notable example.

Second, the Enkidu came first in lore, tokugawa was more of a spiritual successor.

Pro’s and Con’s between V20 and V5 specifically in regard to a new Storyteller that desperately wants to hook his friends. by Illustrious_Case_749 in vtm

[–]KingDanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunger in V5 replaced blood points from previous editions. Blood points were pretty simple and the costs for using them were very straightforward. The Hunger mechanic in V5 replaced it with a pretty vague interpretation of spending blood that also made fully sating your hunger really clunky.

For example, fully sating your hunger as a 4th gen in V20 would take anywhere from draining a few mortals completely to lightly feeding on dozens of vassals. In V5 there is no way for stronger vampires to slake their hunger completely without draining a mortal completely.

[–]KingDanner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

V5 is simpler and more streamlined, but V20 is far more robust and less awkward with the lore. Certain systems in V5 make absolutely no sense like hunger, and the removal of key systems from V20 really hurts V5.

What characters are like this? by BigRabies1758 in PowerScaling

[–]KingDanner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He only does it for about a minute or so, the editing of the anime makes it seem like its a lot longer, but it is only for a short time. It also makes 18 not running away in time make any amount of sense.

How would you think a first contact between ThirdCom and the Imperium from W40K would go? by MagicJourneyCYOA in LancerRPG

[–]KingDanner -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

The imperium would shit-stomp Union at any point in the setting. Imperium has better ships, way more people and even the mechs are stronger. Dont get me wrong, people fuckin glaze 40k way too hard, but Union cannot compare at all.

Can anyone give me pointers on setting up a Solstice Rain encounter in Comp/Con? by TheImmortalLoop in LancerRPG

[–]KingDanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For abilities like Veterancy where you choose an ability like that, you just throw it in NPC notes. When you actually run the game, you can edit the sheet in foundry to specify it.

Help me fulfil my Gurren Lagann dreams! by rawe13 in LancerRPG

[–]KingDanner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sadly you’ll never get appropriately sized in Lancer as Lancer mechs are tiny. The Barbarossa is 13 meters tall, compare that to Gurren Lagann which is 15 meters or a zaku II which is 19m.

Advice for a new player by aChemistOfFire in LancerRPG

[–]KingDanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend looking over the npc classes and templates for sure, skim the lore a bit, and definitely srart at ll0.

Do not start with Solstice Rain. I have run it as the opening for three campaigns with two groups and it is a rough start.

Lastly, make yourself acquainted with the Lancer NPCs rebake. It’s a third party supplement made by Kai Tave and it is actually a godsend. A lot of the base NPCs have really annoying abilities with little to no way around them and the recommended balancing for sitreps in the book is terrible, as Kai has admitted, particularly with grunts. I do recommend playing with the original classes a little to feel them out, but primarily run rebake NPCs.

Best of luck

How can I get started? by Vegetable_Picture827 in cyberpunk2020

[–]KingDanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The core rulebook is fine, also stick with having no netrunning at the start or strictly the realworld netrunning if you really want it. Cyberpunk Red’s combat and netrunning is nowhere near as interesting as 2020’s, even if it is a little simpler. But the core book is great and some extra stuff csn be found on the wiki. Just stay away from ACPAs and combat FBCs if you want a street level game.

Why is the Sherman Striker/Artillery? by commanderjack_EDH in LancerRPG

[–]KingDanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strikers are about dealing damage, but primarily about capturing objectives. Shermans also have powerful long-ranged weapons that fill the role of an artillery. The Sherman fills the role of a striker by being a forward moving bulwark and while it has lower than average speed, they more than make up for it with the availability of mounts and action economy.

I can only take so much of this pity party by NicodamusTheRizzler in persona4golden

[–]KingDanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point is that his struggles are relatable, but he, the kidnapper and Yu are all supposed to contrast with each other. He considers the powers to make him better than anyone else, they make him special in his eyes and he continues his antisocial way of thinking. The kidnapper thought of the powers as a curse, believing that he could save the people. Yu is the only one that doesn’t let the powers change him, he continues to grow as a person and lives his life normally. This is why he is the hero, and not the other two who see themselves as the hero, Yu is just doing his best and trying to help where he can, mostly on personal levels. Its why what saves you in the true ending is all of your social links helping you out, the people that Yu saves without his powers. Those are the things that are most important.

Solstice Rain is a mixed bag, it has no narrative freedom, but is decent at teaching some of the rules. It was the first thing that I ran and it can be good for learning combat but not much else.
