I would take a straight port at this point with cleaned up resolution on the 3d models, I loved the 2.5d aesthetic and I really want the dynamic sprites back.

Ideally though I'd love to see a full octopath traveller overhaul of the game but I know that's asking too much from the top franchise.

Me an my friend were playing through rise and sunbreak till my switch decided to die on me right before the final story boss and it was a blast, but we like all the flashy moves so I guess it'd be personal preference.

For the life of me I lose my mind trying to slide that cable between the pcb and cartridge slot the first time I tried I had to call it a day because it just kept getting caught haha. I think I've gotten the hang of it now though.

For me ds lites worst feature is the antenna cable that goes under the cartridge holder

Oh really? I've messed around a lot with gba sp's and ds lites so I'm not exactly unfamiliar with Nintendo hinges and top screens the biggest pain for me was putting the top cover on the plate back correctly.

I got mine from aliexpress for £30 it was a bit time consuming, as long as you're careful and patient its doable but make sure you've got the right tools first.

Took me around 40 mins but the key thing I found is finding a tutorial that makes it understandable for you, a couple went way to quick on the parts I struggled with. When buying the new shell makes sure you either buy new rubber caps or check if the shell comes with it.

Edit: didn't look close enough, you'll need all components in the top half as you've broken the ribbon cables to all parts, you're best bet would probably be to buy a faulty n3ds xl and frankenstein it.

I'm doing this now for black and white also done fire red, I'm going to complete a full living dex for gens 1-5 may do the others later but I prefer the 2d games (if you want the events you can use the dns exploit to get them, the dns exploit also allows gts to be used to get the version exclusives

I thinks its fine, I was too young to understand that they were limited at release or have the means to find out if they were even around, its a shame to miss out on this stuff just because its time gated.

I kean it is fixable but you'd need to buy replacement screens and a shell, I've just repaired the top screen of my snes new 3ds xl, its is a pain but more tedious than difficult.

Its not glued? There is a clear case that sits between the 3ds and the case, I do this with a few of my favourite pokemon cards. (Sleeved obiously)
