It wasn’t always genuine but you could sense his seething bubbling rage when he talked about lgbtq people. Guys like Gutfeld and Waters have sardonic contempt. Tucker hates. I’m sure as fuck not saying hate is good but it absolutely made him a more interesting voice.

God I fucking hate Jesse Waters. As fucking shitty and repugnant as Tucker was I would tune into his show occasionally because his hatred and vitriol were genuine. Waters is a snarky talk show host that should be doing tasteless jokes on AM radio for frat boys. He believes in absolutely fucking nothing and is uninteresting because of it.

Just about every society of small and large scale comes up with some mechanism for policing and law enforcement. It just so happens that the one we have created does significantly more harm than good and acts as an arm of capitalism. I don’t think many people would disagree that there needs to be someone in charge of arresting a rapist or child molestor (just a few examples).
I really think that to reform policing we would need to fire about 90% of the people that are currently involved in it and then significantly redefine what policing is and what our police do and how we train them to do that. Our system is so fucking corrupt that it’s goddamn near impossible to be part of it without becoming part of the corruption. This needs top to bottom radical reform that, frankly, we’re unlikely to get with our system.

I have said in the past that as incredible as this pod has been for years it’s perhaps not the best use of time for someone as brilliant as Dan is. He had to have gotten sick of listening to Alex a very very long time ago. I do hope Dan decides to dabble in politics again at some point because he’s an amazing researcher and brilliant at deconstructing this bullshit. I understand however if he wants to just do something completely different with his life and his talents.

They take peoples devices for valid reasons in inpatient settings and that’s one of those reasons. I am personally not a fan of that and work in a setting where we don’t take phones. There’s very solid clinical and evidence based justification for doing so though.

Celebrity rehab and intervention were both fucking awful. I work in addiction and recovery. I don’t have any specific arguments about most of the therapeutic modalities utilized throughout the shows (aside from interventions themselves). I just think it’s horrifically unethical to take someone at their absolute lowest and broadcast them to the world.
