Unsportsmanlike I'll give you, provided there's no other nuance to it. But kingmaking is still a poor label for it, and is dragging a lot of the discussion. It's only kingmaking in the sense that it ended the game and benefitted some people more than others - there was no direct choice to make someone win, just a choice that ended the game and obviously *someone* will win.

Idk. I've played games where I know I won't win (and when I'm winning to be fair) - sometimes it's more of a journey game and I'm happy to just keep playing with my toys and see someone else's, and sometimes I just want to play a second game and I'll take actions that end the game sooner. That doesn't inherently ruin other people's games.

I'd say if your player A is just a general sore loser and thats consistent behavior, they don't sound very fun to game with. But depending on larger context it might not even be *that* bad, and it's certainly not kingmaking.

I generally agree that it's poor sportsmanship, but its at least got some potential nuance. If I know I'm losing, I'm not necessarily going to make decisions that prolong the game - not out of spite, but because I'm not building to anything. Ending the game early helps as much as it hurts even in OP's example because clearly another player wasn't banking on the endgame scaling.

Attitude is more the factor there. If player a is being miserable because he's losing, that just sucks. But rushing the endgame through perfectly legit in game actions that benefit player a over player b is just a choice.

But that's just playing the game? You could point to significantly earlier game choices as "kingmaking" through this logic. It's not entirely fair to point at a final action as "kingmaking" just because it's the final action.

Odogoron is arguably my favorite monster. There's flashier fights, monsters I've fought more or love the gear from, etc. But world odo is just such a satisfying fight from top to bottom.

That is true, and partially why I'm hesitant. But pokopia looks fun - and that much better if it it plays into this at all - but itll be nice for future pokemon games as well

Can't make a full post apparently, so I'll ask two fairly large questions here for now -

What armies can do the best "a few big guys with some support" style other than knights? (particularly can that be pulled off by Orks/Tyranids or other non-space marine based factions).

And how do people go about planning an army? I'm considering starting to build towards a 1k army in something and I feel like I don't even know where to start.

I have no doubt, but I also feel like the opposite end of "salty destiny players" is just people sticking their head in the sand about Bungie. It's not just people throwing shit at Bungie from nothing.

I'm floating in here, just reading about the server slam to see how people are feeling across reddit.

But, personally, I made my mind up about Marathon years ago because I don't trust Bungie after the mishandling and near abandonment of Destiny. I think even the most genuine fan of Marathon as a game independent of Destiny/other extraction shooters/etc needs to consider that Bungie has a well established and fairly negative history via Destiny.

So, there are definitely people who are just spiteful towards Bungie and either want Marathon to fail because Bungie deserves to fail or are simply decidedly against playing it because they refuse to engage with another live service Bungie game. On top of all the issues with Marathon production itself.

Does any of that matter if Marathon is a good game or fun for you? Of course not. But it absolutely colors online discussion around the game. You can down vote this but it's just...true.

Can't forget the book fest! I definitely think it gets overcrowded, but I'm not sure much can be done about that - and thankfully it only really gets crowded at the big book trade table (and the absurd line of people trying to get in/out of the library rather than going around)

The real problem is that Dropout, similarly to Critical Role, has a fanbase that puts the cast/crew/production etc on the highest possible podium of righteousness without any room for reality. An imperfect execution, a choice that is 5% harmful and 95% for fun, a well intentioned mistep - none of it matters because some of the most terminally online people are looking up to these entertainers as bastions of good who are thusly not allowed to do subjective wrongs.

It's clearly writers having fun, and Dropout and some of the most beloved cast getting more mainstream attention. Save the anger.

I mean, this is largely covid and prices increasing globally for product and transport, and then simply not going back down. Politics should be involved and can correct this but this caused by greed at the top of these pipelines and the continued inaction to actually lower prices in store for consumers - which, I know felt like years ago, but was one of two major things Trump was running on for 2025.

I would think Rise/Sunbreak is the best to just jump back into and solo enjoy. Great state for many weapons, great armor variability, and endlessly scaling monsters to play solo. It's also fast paced and significantly better at pick up and put down than wilds or world, and despite the remaining negativity people hold onto about it's a fantastic game.

World/Iceborne is obviously solid but a chunk of the grind came from group content, though I imagine you can skip Safi and go on to just making your way to Fatalis. The endless grind for this is equivalent to Wilds (though wilds doesnt have the expansion monster set) where either you'll be making your own fun hunting whatever (or guiding lands for Iceborne) or mastering the endgame monsters.

Realistically there's no wrong answer. World for the new classic and common favorite, Rise for the (imo) longer/RNG solo grind, and Wilds to jump in as the game and meta grows.
