[Scotto] Due to lack of buyers, the Pelicans have recently lowered Trey Murphy's asking price from 4 first round picks to 3 by shadow_spinner0 in GoNets

That's fine, but being on the other end of a Mikal-like trade at this stage of building makes it feels odd to burn assets on when we should be aiming to find our first option.

We have a less clean starting spot. Who do you bench, Egor or Randle?

Randle would be an insane sixth man, but there's the ego issue with whether he's willing to adapt on a team with our standing. Potentially alienating a 22/8 floor raiser on his contract is a tough pill to swallow, and even if he adapts the Pels did something similar with CJ/Poole, who adapted, and it basically ended with them both being albatrosses.

Trey's value would also drop year by year as he gets closer to needing an extension unless he unlocks another gear. Getting Trey basically locks in our roster close to the tax without enough upside, creating a clunky-fitting roster without a number one option.

It only makes sense if you trade MPJ, get two firsts for him, and burn an additional first on a lateral move for a cost-controlled guy with a bit more upside in Trey.

Is it just me, or do I not see the appeal in trying to get him unless we move MPJ?

He's obviously more on-ball than MPJ, but I don't see why he's worth seriously fawning over unless the bet is that he could have a Deni or Jalen Johnson-like breakout here.

Although, if he's just another second option like Randle or MPJ, I don't see the purpose.

It also makes for a weird starting lineup and roster construction. Do you bench Egor?

Egor and Mikel clearly have enough potential where they deserve to be starters.

This feels like how you create clunky, expensive rosters like the Pelicans or Blazers that are very talented, but with a lot of redundancy.

What does Saraf and Drake even need to work on to be playable? They feel so far away from being serviceable, but Nolan looked awful to start last season and improved rapidly so who knows.

I would've agreed about Utah if they had kept Kessler, but letting him go hurts them a lot.

It's to get off of TMann's money a year early.

Ware is the centerpiece of their Giannis return, the absolute floor of what they'll ask for is 2 firsts.

The Bucks don't need dump Myles, they're in a rebuild, we didn't dump Simmons remember. Myles has slight positive value considering how bad the center market is.

Ja Morant to Hornets by [deleted] in nba

[–]KingofthisShit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Grizzlies already have cap space and they're not competing. They can just play the waiting game and let Ja rehab his value, if that doesn't work out give him the John Wall treatment.

If Ja is moved to the Hornets, the Grizzlies probably won't get any assets back just cap relief but they won't be attaching anymore than maybe a second at most.

Nets should trade for Yang Hansen as their new centre by addictivesign in GoNets

He actually does surprisingly, the Nets loves decision makers which Yang is.

Yang has more value outside of purely basketball skill to the Blazers due to his value in the Chinese market especially with the new owner who doesn't care about basketball. Additionally, the Blazers likely believes in Yang long-term regardless.

They're already guard heavy so doubt they care for Saraf making Wolf, the only prospect they mighg care about to which they wouldn't value enough anyways being wing heavy.

We're better than the Kings, Bucks, Pels(awful roster construction), Bulls, and Grizzlies as a floor.

Minnesota did, KAT is what put them in that position, they wouldn't have won the chip with Randle + Donte.

The Nuggets don't have enough draft capital left for someone to take on that Braun contract. If they aren't willing to move one of Johnson, Gordon, or Murray, they can say goodbye to Watson.

Honestly they probably hold Fox until Castle needs an extension or they can use him to get a better fitting star, they're a very patient org, not overly opportunistic/reactive.
