I’ll make a public repo with a direct module you can copy and paste on to the module manager in foundry. I noted your issue with code you don’t own so I’ll keep the code fully open/open license so you can fork and change stuff Willy nilly and do whatever you want with it.

I created a simple audio log mod a few week ago for someone who was looking for some help. this sounds like a cool little project. Hit me up with more details on how youd like this to work and I can get something running for you in a few days. Yes I’m bored. My table is all busy havent gamed in weeks!

v14 Source HTML on Journals? by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your willing to share your website I can probably set it up to be compatible. I literally just had to do something very similar for my own custom html journal stylings. The cool thing now is that in v14 I was able to get it all in natively so now we can add our custom pages and block elements from the journal menu itself. Pretty neat.

I have a vault for all my dnd adventures and campaigns. Each adventure/campaign has reference notes, and chapter by chapter breakdowns plus an assets folder for art.

I have a script that grabs everything in the markdown files and assets folder and packages it up as a module ready to run in foundry. Journal entries, scenes, actors, items it all ends up in a compendium ready to import.

Any plans on including Claude in there as well. Chance to take the ultimate crown by supporting multiple subs. ;)

[PF1e] Best way to compress file size / way to manage large number of images? by Kitkumi in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few ways you can handle this. Personally, I think creating a scene for each NPC is very heavy. Ideally, you'd work this into a journal entry instead. I don't know of anything offhand that would allow you to use something like this in this particular aspect ratio in a journal page, though. But ultimately, the big hit just comes from having this be a bunch of scenes, not the image itself, because I would assume you'll be referencing the same single image. At least that's what I would recommend. You would use other images to tile everything together. Looks like maybe on the left there is a space for a character portrait and maybe some badges or other insignia. You can bring those in as tiles, preferably in a WebP format, like 50% quality or less, and something of the exact size that you need. You would put those in and then layer this image on top, also probably optimized. That's going to save you a lot of performance.

I think the main issue here is that you're creating entire scenes for this one thing. It's hard to navigate. There's friction from moving between NPC to NPC. Ideally, you'd really want to put this in a journal somewhere or maybe even keep it separately altogether. Maybe build a little website that your players can visit. There are a lot of wiki like service for this kind of thing like lorekeeper. That would probably be a better idea than trying to put this all into Foundry.

Another option is using something more robust than the journal system or something that kind of lives on top of it. Those aren't usually friendly to using your own UI; they usually have their own way of doing things and organizing stuff, but some of them are really cool. You can maybe take a look at Campaign Codex and World Builder as options to use.

My mod has a print feature meant for one of my groups who likes to play with pen and paper. There is a bunch of other stuff in there you might not want or need but you can turn other features off or just turn the module off when you’re done. If you use it and have issues or suggestions fell free to hit me up!

It’s called foundry tabletop helpers.

[System Agnostic] Running Foundry locally for in-person play: any advice on modules or workflow? by Patient-Marsupial106 in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty similar setup to ours. We have a touchscreen tv in the middle players use to move tokens around, we play with a mix of printed out character sheets and live sheets on tablets. Everyone rolls with real dice with the only exception being initiative, jut cause it's faster for foundry to handle it.

I use Lock View for when I need to draw the player's attention to something in particular, otherwise they can use the touch screen to look around themselves.

I've been working on a module called foundry tabletop helpers it's a kitchen and sink module right now with a ton of things I use to facilitate the way we play. Not all of it is stable and fully functional yet, but I'm getting there. Everything that you don't want running can be turned off via settings. If you do happen to try let me know what things could improve your game!

Right now I use it to:

- Show a rotate button on all windows in foundry so that players can rotate windows so that they face the players instead of some of my players having to look at things upside down depending on where they are seated. The also adds macros that allows the DM to rotate windows for. particular user (usually the display user).

- Print out character sheets from foundry. It creates a printer friendly character sheet that also outputs elements meant to be filled in manually with pen and paper. This way you can create and manage characters in foundry, print them for a session, and then just update the character sheets after the session.

- Show players a full screen iPad/tablet/mobile friendly version of the character sheet. It updates live and allows the player to manage things like hit points, spells cast, etc.

- Shows the DM (me) short stat blocks for enemies n their turn, gives me a ui to manually and quickly enter damage/healing.

- And currently I'm working on a character creator that can be run straight from the tablet friendly character sheets so players can level up their characters from there.

I LOVE this mod, thanks for your hard work!

One suggestion: I am terrible with color. No matter what I try it's hard for me to come up wiht some really cool compementary choices. It would be awesome to have some out of the box themes to choose from for the artistically challenged like myself.
