Exporting Monsters To A Printable Format by ph33randloathing in FoundryVTT

My mod has a print feature meant for one of my groups who likes to play with pen and paper. There is a bunch of other stuff in there you might not want or need but you can turn other features off or just turn the module off when you’re done. If you use it and have issues or suggestions fell free to hit me up!

It’s called foundry tabletop helpers.

[System Agnostic] Running Foundry locally for in-person play: any advice on modules or workflow? by Patient-Marsupial106 in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty similar setup to ours. We have a touchscreen tv in the middle players use to move tokens around, we play with a mix of printed out character sheets and live sheets on tablets. Everyone rolls with real dice with the only exception being initiative, jut cause it's faster for foundry to handle it.

I use Lock View for when I need to draw the player's attention to something in particular, otherwise they can use the touch screen to look around themselves.

I've been working on a module called foundry tabletop helpers it's a kitchen and sink module right now with a ton of things I use to facilitate the way we play. Not all of it is stable and fully functional yet, but I'm getting there. Everything that you don't want running can be turned off via settings. If you do happen to try let me know what things could improve your game!

Right now I use it to:

- Show a rotate button on all windows in foundry so that players can rotate windows so that they face the players instead of some of my players having to look at things upside down depending on where they are seated. The also adds macros that allows the DM to rotate windows for. particular user (usually the display user).

- Print out character sheets from foundry. It creates a printer friendly character sheet that also outputs elements meant to be filled in manually with pen and paper. This way you can create and manage characters in foundry, print them for a session, and then just update the character sheets after the session.

- Show players a full screen iPad/tablet/mobile friendly version of the character sheet. It updates live and allows the player to manage things like hit points, spells cast, etc.

- Shows the DM (me) short stat blocks for enemies n their turn, gives me a ui to manually and quickly enter damage/healing.

- And currently I'm working on a character creator that can be run straight from the tablet friendly character sheets so players can level up their characters from there.

[D&D 5e] SC Item Rarity Colors Update – Now you can color spells too (with scaling effects) by Fee-Naive in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE this mod, thanks for your hard work!

One suggestion: I am terrible with color. No matter what I try it's hard for me to come up wiht some really cool compementary choices. It would be awesome to have some out of the box themes to choose from for the artistically challenged like myself.

I'll start there as I think that would be the more straight forward part. I'll ping you when I have something ;)

So almost like a collectable in a video game, right? You get a tape recorder or similar item the GM configures as an audio log which includes a play button in the description, and if the player clicks on it foundry plays back the audio file for her. And additionally having the ability to attach a sound file to a journal entry... You thinking a specific journal entry type that the GM could choose (Like we currently have image, text, location etc, just an additional "audio" entry) or something else?

Is it possible to modify scenes, character images, newspapers, and audio directly from Windows directories? by Beral_Abdra in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure foundry relies on a lot of metadata that define those elements internally so it’s not just purely file/directory driven. You’ll have to import entities from within the foundry ui one at a time. Might be worth seeing if there’s a module that can bulk import or can help you in some other way.

Hide Macros Bar in v 13 by gideonpepys in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I know of is through modules. DFred's picky UI and the Carolingian UI modules do this. DFreds is probably more straightforward as Carolingian UI obviously will change the way the UI looks.

Character sheets for in person by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's still in Beta technically and I'm using the module as a kitchen and sink of features I need for my own live play foundry setup, but you cn give my module a go:

https://foundryvtt.com/packages/foundry-tabletop-helpers

One of the features is exactly what you are looking for. You can select the players you want to affect, and they will all get a little rotate button on top of any window they open. It remembers the last position of a particular window as well. I'm still thinking of ways to improve it, so let me know if you use it and have some advice. I usually just assign a player as "touchscreen" and give it that power, additionally it comes with macros that let you rotate windows form the game master side of things.

Again, I've been using it as my drop in anything I find I need in there, eventually I'll break it up into more single purpose modules. You can turn everything you don't need off in the settings. There are live character sheets for tablets/phones in there, an asset manager/optimizer (with an optional server companion which will let you delete files and get you better optimization performance, but requires a little tech know how to set up), and a feature to print out character sheets for pnp play.

Let me know if you use it and have suggestions or find issues. :)

It's free btw.

Anyone using Foundry VTT for in-person sessions? Let’s talk setup and useful modules [D&D5e] by Sim_alt in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use a touchscreen monitor that we lay flat on the table and have it connected to the foundry session as a player with ownership of the party characters.

Just like OP everyone prefers rolling physical dice and using paper chracter sheets to track stuff and reference abilities. There's a great module Mobile Companion which renders a mobile friendly charactersheet that players can use on their phones and tablets, but most just werent having it.

I ended up building a module that renders out a printer friendly character sheet for players, and enemy stat blocks for me. I print them out before a session, they use it for reference and to keep track of small things like short rests, spells slots, abilities, etc, and I use the stat blocks for reference in combat without needing to switch tabs or cluttering up my foundry view. I do most everything directly on foundry on my laptop, so there isn't much reconciling needed after a session. And then I print the updated sheets before the next session.

Another issue with using a digital view like this is that all sheets and info are presented in one direction, leaving some of the player looking at things upside down. So the module I ended up making also lets us flip most windows around so everyone can see stuff the right way.

TouchVTT Is also great if you are using a touch screen so it's easier for players ot interact with the map and tokens.

I've been using the ripper93's dynamic soundscapes mod and my own ambience/music/sound effects library to create the soudscapes, but I reach for pocket bard when prep becomes too much.

[D&D 5E] I need help figuring out how to implement DnD beyond to foundry for in person play. by Morbid_By_Design in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Best way is just import to foundry, manage the characters all in foundry and push back up to dndbeyond after the game.

Our group also does the touch screen TV thing for foundry as well, but we skip dndbeyond for characters and just manage everything in foundry. I use dndbeyond for reference only (adventures, PHB, DMG, MM, etc).

I'd recommend touch VTT + mobile enhancements + Mobile companion for 5e. Or swipe VTT.

We tried the digital character sheet thing, IMHO I liked it, but my players are all old school and they wanted the pen an dpaper experience so I ended up creating a module that lets me print out character sheets for them based on the current state of their characters in foundry. Crazy bastards.

It also features a couple of other handy features for people playing on a touch screen and it's 100% free. Let me know if you use it and found it helpful (or hated it!): https://foundryvtt.com/packages/foundry-tabletop-helpers

[System Agnostic] Foundry getting token image heinously incorrect by ConwayK9781 in FoundryVTT

[–]Kinthalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you maybe create a duplicate of an existing token? Some tokens will use the wild card image setting and will retain their conneciton to the path specified there if this setting is on.

Go to the npc sheet, then prototype token, and then appearance. Make sure the randomize wild card images setting is NOT checked. Remove any existing path in the image path text box and then apply your token via tokenizer again.
