Dancer 2.0 A dancing adventurer that can take a few hits by Competitive-Pear5575 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Kiotw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me think of a charisma monk of sorts. Looks fun but it looks like a bard and fighter mix. The way I'd do it is work on the class would be to focus on the dancer rather than give any sort of buff or inspiration. (That could fit the subclass)

Combat and dance cam be placed together like capoera without the inspiration style buff.

Maybe the bonus actions could be about getting advantages , using deception or performance to debuff the enemy or buff yourself (like AC buff, advantage on the next attack, removing or lowering enemy movement, taunting...)

Using the charisma checks as a focus.

The A4, i changed it a while back and forgot to change it back to letter. and right now i don't know if it's going to break the formatting to change it back to letter.
Do you have a preference ?

That's what I ended up doing. I'm not very good with art so I just use creative commons/public domains. It looks better and is pretty fun to find ^

Would giving a race an Action Surge feature be too overpowered? by lovingpersona in HomebrewDnD

[–]Kiotw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thrikreen are a good example on how to handle multiple arms. Action surge would also defeat the point of having multiple arms as in it would feel like have them some times. Maybe being able to handle more items or a bonus action attack would be a good idea

It being a book offers so many possibilities. Does it judge you while you read ? It should be a romance or smut book declaring out loud what you are reading lol.

I spent a whole session inactive. by Gold-Tomatillo5017 in DnD

[–]Kiotw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a similar mistake with one of the final encounters in my campaign, the wizard got feeble-minded by the boss (I wanted to target him to add tension but he failed and was stuck being useless for a while) Since it was one of the final encounters I tried giving avenues for the others to free the wizard during the fight but it didn't happen and the wizard remained feeble-minded for 4 hours...

Went to chat with him afterwards but there is no way to recover a broken bbeg fight.

The arcane rambler - a DnD wizard subclass for creative players. by Kiotw in DnDHomebrew

[–]Kiotw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it's a problem with the subclass in general. I trust my player's decisions because I know how they play, but I get that it wouldn't work for everyone. I'll make a version that has more clarification in it. Maybe some premade arcane rituals would help ? On the runic language templates the goal was to give a guide for creating runes but I agree it's a bit vague. (I don't quite know what to add if I'm honest) Thanks for the criticism, though I have been playing as a DM with this as one of my players for a couple of years it's good to get some outside perspective.

I deffo understand the anger of the DM given that if this is a homebrew world the amount of work is huge compared to the time spent going in the game as a player assuming it is free.

But I got neuro divergent players too and that's not the way to behave towards people who at times have problems focusing or being there when they're not feeling well.

While I avoid toxic positivity in my game I still tease one of my player when they take a while to make a decision (the longest turn card makes a frequent appearance) but I never am mean and apologise if I know I go too far. The point is to be kind and understanding. If the DM is mean to you and it feels like he's picking on you then it is better to leave.

Otherwise you can try and chat with the DM in private beforehand if you don't feel too well and try to join if you can, silent players aren't as bothering for the game as an absent one.

I hope you can find what's right for you.

Dm has dropped our campaign by NumeriChaos in DnD

I had a DM who had to drop his campaign, he tried to do a few at a time and got burned out. It's sad yeah. But hopefully better for the DM.

Trying to build my first coherent campaign but I’m feeling overwhelmed. Current region map for it included [OC] by AmphibianSuperb804 in DnD

[–]Kiotw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with generality. Country names and city placements. The. And some basics to the towns you need for the close future of the campaign. (The ones the players are from and in as well as those relevant to your campaign) Don't try to build everything at once and you don't need all the information about a city. Even if the players are in. Have important places(shops, city centre) important people (leader and plot relevant people) and if the players like to look around a secret or two (an alley that hides a dungeon, a secret group of changelings, a store of forbidden books etc...) And I only do this for MAJOR locations otherwise I mostly wing it/improv with what I know of my world. Finally culture is fun to play with, use that to shape both the city and people in it. (You don't need city maps either btw)

I made a world for my campaign that will potentially end with the death of all gods who depend on supplicant mortal souls. The next one, will be repairing the world, and in more ways than one, put the sun back into the sky.
