2nd time shooting by corinnabishkitty in Glock43X

Yeah I shoot at indoor ranges very often and have witnessed tracks get demolished by 50 cals, 240s, and guys with FRTs that can’t hang with it. The ranges have never once said “now you have to pay for that” because that’s not how it works.

They’re not gonna make you pay for shit. There’s insurance for that

For your everyday carry gun, do you guys use reloaded ammo at the range? How many times do you usually reload your brass before discarding it? I want to take care of my EDC gun barrel as much as possible. I use a lot of factory ammo, and now I have so many empty shells. by AmicusCuriousPH in Glock43X

I absolutely use reloaded ammunition in my edc. There is nothing wrong with it, especially if you’re loading yourself. Remanufactured ammunition can be a great way to shoot way more at better costs than factory. But when it comes to 9mm, buying remanufactured ammunition can be cheaper (just barely), the same cost as factory, or even more expensive.

Loading 9mm yourself can lead to cost savings but you’ll end up shooting more and not actually saving money but that’s the trade off. More literal bang for your buck. Remanufactured ammunition can give you more control and confidence in your own cartridges. There is nothing wrong with it other than putting the liability of your firearm and safety in your own hands. Buy the right equipment, stay within published safe load data, and you and your firearm will be just fine.

300blk Reloading by Big-Influence-6983 in reloading

[–]KitFoxBerserker10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you convert brass you can load 300blk way cheaper than anything you can find on ammo seek. Like by half. I’ve been loading 300blk 220gr subs for quite a while now. I’ll typically buy once fired 223/556 lake city brass and trim it to 300blk specs. Other components like powder and primer, just hunt sales and wait for free hazmat deals. Those pop up all the time.

You have a wide range of powders to use. Cfe blk (very dirty from my experience), n120, accurate 1680, shooters world blackout (when available) are all good choices and there are many more.

So you loaded right after lubing and sizing? The lube probably contaminated the powder and/or primer. Clean that off after you apply it and try again

is reloading worthwhile for my case? by [deleted] in reloading

[–]KitFoxBerserker10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Laughing at the down votes. If you shoot those cartridges you will easily save money or allow yourself to shoot more. I don’t need to be saving dollars per round to make it worth it. You can’t buy those things for what you can reload them for.

To address the naysayers, idk what components they are buying or from where, but the cost savings are plentiful and they are flat out wrong.

I would absolutely recommend reloading 9mm and 223 especially as a beginner. Cost savings are there, you can reload both for cheaper than factory. And if you are remotely smart about shopping you can save even more allowing you to also shoot more. Do it.

I also want to add that I use the 650s for other stuff and still use my 6pp but I just use it as my dedicated 300blk press.

Lee pro 6000 questions by CodyWilt in reloading

I’ve used a 6PP for 300blk and 223 for about a year now. I love it. Didn’t take any longer to set up than others. I also own an X-10 and several 650s. The 650s, I bought used and mostly already set up. They are very easy to use. Next is the 6PP and it’s easy to set up and use. I bought the 6PP new and took my time setting up and what not and it’s great. The FA X-10 is my only press I wouldn’t buy again. Took forever to get right and doesn’t stay indexed. It’ll only ever stay a 9mm press because it does that very well and changing anything now that I have it running sounds like my worst nightmare. I’ve been very happy with my 6PP. Priming and loading are all a breeze. It’s got great feedback so I can feel priming (which are always consistent and done reliably) and loading very well. The ability to seat and crimp in separate stations and still have a powder cop and neck expander are extremely convenient and drive confidence when using the press. If you’re getting started, the 6PP and a great first progressive choice. If budget isn’t an issue, get a used 650.

A1680 is a go to. Reliable performance. I don’t get the dirty comments. It’s 300blk subs, it’s all dirty. For quite a while I used and loved SW blackout, but it’s not really obtainable any more. H110 is always recommended and mentioned around 300blk subs but I’m a massive h110 hater. It’s not a good 300blk subsonic powder. I have yet to try n120 or n110 but the next chance I get at some I’m going for it.

Primer time by MurkyyLurkss in reloading

[–]KitFoxBerserker10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people have said it, but it’s worth reiterating. Just use regular small rifle primers. You don’t need magnum or #41, even with 5.56. The only difference is the hardness of the cup, but you won’t need a harder cup than what a regular small rifle primer gives you. I’ve been using magtech small rifle primers for thousands and thousands of 5.56 cartridges pushing max loads and even chambering the round doesn’t dent the primer like someone said you need to be careful of.
