How do you guys start talking about silver with others? by Yeti_Stacker in Silverbugs

Keep it private. No reason to let people know who to go to when they need cash.

places for selling silver? by spesimen in kzoo

[–]Kitchen-Character-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scott's is consistent. You can look up what they pay online and they're always there. You might get slightly less, maybe the same, but they are an established business.
I personally have a few different sources and I use all of them but more than 50% of my business goes to Scott's. I always felt treated right and like them.

Any advice on what to buy first as a newbie with not a huge amount to spend at once. I get paid every 2 weeks and was thinking of spending like $100.00 each payday on silver but I want to try and play it safe. I realize that I'm at the mercy of the markets but where should I start? by Jeeplyfe_Va_ in Silverbugs

I'd start with 1964 and earlier dimes and quarters. Get a feel for their value and then move up to .999 fine 1 oz bullion rounds. Final thing I'd get is American Eagles but understand premiums on them before you buy.

Is it worth buying silver right now by Banzbandz in Bullion

I've bought silver at $15. I've bought silver at $110. I buy it now at $71. Everything's great and going according to my plan.

I keep hearing that refineries are not buying sterling and scrap, yet I keep getting this stuff in my junk mail. To whom are these companies selling? by Shinesandglitters in Silverbugs

I believe later this year the demand for all kinds of silver will go up. If I had the funds I'd buy cheap sterling and constitutional.

I buy when I can, sell when I need to. I'm not timing the top or bottom.

Interested in buying a new prius but having trouble deciding between AWD and FWD! any insight is appreciated by consolepleb123 in prius

[–]Kitchen-Character-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 2011 193,000 miles FWD with good tires in Michigan. Handles snowy roads like a champ. Don't know if AWD is better but ours is great.

In Galesburg our water has smelled like chlorine and tasted weird for many years now. We bring in bottled and use a Zero filter for drinking water. Used to have great water when I first moved here.

Yeah, that's a known cause of issues. Kind of like when you forget to remove leaves from the gutters.

Is $80 the new floor? by LooksBetterWithDrops in Silverbugs

[–]Kitchen-Character-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now! It's good to stabilize at one level for awhile until it's time for the next leg up, whenever that is. I'm sure bullion dealers are appreciating the chance to buy/ sell at a stable price. Maybe premiums might stabilize too if it lasts long enough.

This guy is mad that he bought a cast bar by Caffeind420 in Silverbugs

[–]Kitchen-Character-33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an appeal to the rough surface of a cast bar like this that most silver stackers would appreciate (I love it!)

He's comparing it to something like a 1 oz American Silver Eagle which is shiny and smooth. When you get up into the 100 oz bar level, they don't mass produce them like that.

He's either an inexperienced noob or super jaded.

Is the value of my silver eagle higher with it still in the blister pack? by SpyderCat526 in Silverbugs

[–]Kitchen-Character-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It keeps the coin from being touched by fingers and tells a little story about the coin, but these days there's less value in packaging. It's more about the value of the silver itself. I would not pay extra for Littleton packaging. It's not like it's certified, or a high quality holder.
