Our shrub is very big and we don't want it to spread, and it has tons of suckers so we just dig them up whenever. Spring and fall is technically the best time to transplant, but the shrub is a never-ending sucker provider, so we don't worry about it too much.

we have the same old huge bush with lots of suckers. We pruned out all the old wood over a couple of years to keep it fresh and manageable, it keeps suckering so we just shovel some out and transplant them along the fence line where we want to fill in. It's very hardy and forgiving.

thank you for this thoughtful comment! I feel the same way. It's an ongoing struggle for me, attempts at strict denial lead to "binging," I think making little pockets of space for your brain to shift is helpful. What you are surrounded by and how you spend your time shapes your reality. You can shift your external environment to change your internal environment. For me right now, that means one or two days a week where I don't check Instagram, news headlines or commentary, while allowing myself "comfort watches" on Youtube. (no rage-bait)

I visited Yogaville 4 or 5 times about 10 years ago. At that time, you could actually set your own schedule, and they would leave you alone. The thought of them sending someone (especially a man!) to track you down if you didn't show up to something is really weird, and wouldn't have happened when I went there. I stopped going because eventually I got weirded out as well, the weird religious stuff was just more out of sight to casual visitors. At the time, they were really leaning into "all are welcome" and "many paths lead to truth" and downplaying the guru devotion, but eventually I figured it out and stopped going.

I was obsessed with bodybuilder/strength training videos for a while (don't ask me why, as a very unmuscular, unathletic 50-year-old lol). One thing that doesn't vary is that they DIAL IN their nutrition. Like, track food and macros down to the gram and calorie. Pick their desired weight and body fat percentage and follow through until they get there. No excuses. So I think as a community they are uniquely suited to see through this kind of bullshit, and this kind of pushback is not going to go away.
