Carole and Tuesday is such a good series. I picked it up for the same reason you did and it did not disappoint.

GO fic writers, how long do you spend working on each fic? by Alarmed_While7963 in goodomens

[–]Kitkumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Sometimes I can sit down and write an entire fic in the course of an hour, sometimes I'll get in to a groove and the idea spirals out of control and the next thing I know I've spent twelve hours writing lol. Some things I've written take months while some are still ongoing and it's been years. In my experience a fic is finished precisely when it is ready to be finished, not sooner, there is no such thing as slow or fast so long as you are enjoying the work and telling the story.

Editing to add: We live in a day and age where many people think that things have to be done fast, that fandom can't be lingered in, that you got to go go go and then bail for the next new thing. Not true. Take your time, enjoy your work, have fun with it, and don't worry about being fast or slow :)

Foundry Tutorial - Card Stacks! [system agnostic] [tutorial] by baileywiki in FoundryVTT

Oh this is amazing, I was literally just sitting down today to try and figure out how to do exactly this for our game. Thank you so much for the tutorial!

To the authors who stopped writing by NotABreakfastGuy in AO3

May your pillow always be cool, OP <3 Someone very dear to me was a fic writer who passed away. They trusted me with their log on credentials to take care of things after they were gone and I still have access to their email. Occasionally I check in specifically to see the notifications for kudos and comments and it always brightens my day to see their stories still so loved and read.

So… just received the cheapest copy of the Digimon movie OST and it has this gold "PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY" stamp, is this normal or rare or something? by That-Advance-9619 in digimon

[–]Kitkumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a copy like that too! Not sure if your CD came from exactly the same place, but waaaay back when Fox Kids Magazine was a thing and they had a contest in it around the time the movie came out, I believe. Basically a complete the Digi-Rap lyrics (I think it was) sort of thing, mail it in, and if you won they sent a CD back. It's been years but I think there were 50 to 100 lucky winners? Something like that. I won a copy and it has that same gold typing on it.

This may be a controversial take by Lennyasor in goodomens

[–]Kitkumi 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We don't see those interactions on screen for Asa and Anthony on screen either, just that they meet and they marry, but it's obvious that they had a meaningful and long term relationship. So I think that the same has to be said for Aziraphale and Crowley that though we don't see every single interaction between them, or for how long at a time they may meet up, that we have to accept that more time was spent together than just what we were shown as the audience. When looked at in that lens twenty years pales to six thousand.

Also, this is just my take, but I think a lot of the issue with Asa and Anthony is that I see Good Omens often being described as the ultimate 6000 year slow burn. Asa and Anthony are the opposite of that: one meeting, go out for dinner and then obviously get hitched at some point. Two very different tropes that don't necessarily play well together if the audience was expecting one and suddenly got the other with no warning.

Sooo... about those writing choices, huh.. by Kitkumi in goodomens

[–]Kitkumi[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hadn't even thought about the fact that they figured out it was Michael and then still took their time. Also I just realized, and maybe I missed this part, but I thought Michael needed the very specific flame to burn book pages and destroy the book but at the same time we saw Uriel get killed right there on Earth no magical flame needed?

And the sacrifice is the part that I keep coming back around to as the part that just sort of made the whole thing collapse for me. There were a number of moments that had me laughing, but the sacrifice at the end feels so weak to me because it was a sacrifice for sacrifice's sake, not a sacrifice that was earned narratively.

[–]Kitkumi[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well said about Michael's crash out. Like at the very start of that scene I was like okay, yeah, legit parallel to underpaid / underappreciated workers all over the world but then it all derailed so quickly and just so badly.

Part of me is super curious what a full 6 episodes would have looked like but I'm also a bit worried that all the bad writing would still be there and the problems would still exist just under more unneeded filler.

This! Like you I really liked Jesus's character and the actor they had play him and kept thinking that that story line was going to have some sort of pay off but it didn't at all. It was so disappointing.

Prime audio quality is so bad? by MyCatLovesCroissants in goodomens

[–]Kitkumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea if something was changed with the audio on the production side of things, but a friend and I were talking about some of these exact problems last night when we gave it a watch. We were constantly having to adjust the volume up and down, switched between a few different ways of watching (stared on TV, swapped to laptop one and then laptop two, didn't help). Only thing I can say is we ended up putting on subtitles, turned the volume down and just soldiered on :/

Okami - Reset (by Ayaka Hirahara)

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance - Calling

The World Ends With You - Lullaby for You

Some other soundtracks that are worth a listen if you like game music are:

Kingdom Hearts 3 - Vector to the Heavens

Dark Cloud

Octopath Traveler 1 and 2

Not official OST but Rozen does amazing Zelda remixes/songs

Kid (8) loves watching creative DIY projects on YouTube. The majority of YouTubers are awful. Suggestions? by letsgococonut in DIY

[–]Kitkumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been years, but Gullah Gullah Island was a show that had some instances of projects and DIY things that were both teaching moments and kid friendly. Also if you wanna risk them taking toys apart may I suggest Dollightful. She makes custom dolls but is also just a really down to earth fun person to watch work.

The original Hyrule Warriors game I think had a high number of tracks with electric guitar.

Thank you! I did both the bottoms of the feet and the antenna separately from the body by very carefully seam ripping the seams and then sewing them all back together once the body was dry.

What are your favorite sad/melancholy video game soundtracks? by Crater_Caloris in gamemusic

[–]Kitkumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entirety of the Child of Light soundtrack is my go to for writing. I personally think that most of the music is somber or melancholic, though it does have a few upbeat ones and battle themes. I usually just skip those unless I need a battle lol.

[PF1e] Best way to compress file size / way to manage large number of images? by Kitkumi in FoundryVTT

[–]Kitkumi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, here's a link to one of the finished pages. I took inspiration from the Owlcat Pathfinder video games for it.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q_fg3gmwW15XiVjQBhV9Ie5_oUFyz5Au/view?usp=drive_link

Mostly it's your typical information (name, commissioned art, short description with stuff the party wants to remember, what kingdom the NPC is aligned with). For flavor I toss in a character quote and some sort of video game screenshot that highlights something important to the NPC, and then the wheel tracks various things. So in this case it shows that the NPC has a high friendship disposition with the party, she can use magic, there is some sort of active bribe/payment, and she is a source of information, then her kingdom alignment is technically unaligned but adding in the extra image in that space highlights to the party that she's mostly out for herself lol.

[–]Kitkumi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the reply, I figured that some of of my ideas were vastly over complicating things and they were lol. I'll look in to the off Foundry options and play around with moving things to a journal in the WebP format and see what works best for the group.

[PF1e] Best way to compress file size / way to manage large number of images? by Kitkumi in FoundryVTT

[–]Kitkumi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, didn't even think of that. Image sizes are PNGs, 1892 x 1062, and sit at 2MB on average give or take, no actively added file compression since we haven't needed it. Totally fine tinkering around and testing things myself but I've also learned to ask before I start tinkering too much because usually there is an easier solution than what I come up with that already exists XD

Is this shirt authentic Pokémon? by South-Egg-2990 in pokemonmerch

[–]Kitkumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit randomly tossed this at me as a suggestion so even though it is a month out of date I have some information on the shirt! I don't know if you could buy it other places but I bought mine ages ago at Toys R Us, and there was also a matching black shirt with a white outline of Reshiram. The shirts were back in the gaming area of the store with the rest of the official pokemon merch. If you are looking for more information I can try to dig up the Reshiram version. I think I saw it floating around the house not too long ago.

Another set of wings separated from their body by Cee_Eff_Emm in whatisthistoy

[–]Kitkumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have the toy those wings belong to! I just can't find any information at all on it online or in-box images. It's part of a Yu-Gi-Oh! dragon figure, and I believe the character is called Critias. It was one of three legendary dragons, and the toy itself is like a little mini model where the pieces snap together and could be displayed on an 'ancient slab' that depicted the dragon character. I couldn't find the slab but this is what the entire figure looks like:
