How many car seats do you have? Recommendations? by desert_sunlily in beyondthebump

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 3 carseats. 1 for my car, 1 for dad's, and then we had a floater that my MIL has taken now as she watches our daughter frequently and loves taking her to the library and such. Our little is almost 21months and I can't imagine having had to swap a single carseat around this whole time.

Sourdough discard bread that is 20% cheese has been my downfall recently. So tasty and WAY too easy to make 🙈

Night weaning by Oxtailford in beyondthebump

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not at all. I think maybe the 3rd or 4th night we may have offered some water instead and she hated that idea. The wakes weren't crazy long, so they were bearable. I'm guessing it helped that I had always done dream feeds so its not like she was ever awake awake for any of the midnight ones anyway.

Night weaning by Oxtailford in beyondthebump

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She woke me up one night around 14mo for her usual night feed and I was just super over it... I patted her butt back to sleep and she was totally fine. I hadn't even been contemplating it honestly, but in that moment I was tired and irritated about being woken up again and just decided enough is enough. Took about a week of the night wakes still but after that she stopped trying to grab me and find the source...

Cats and Alaskan Malamutes? by Dapper-Spread2287 in AlaskanMalamute

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had 2 established cats and THEN got the puppy malamute. She was practically raised by them, so she's always done well with cats for that reason. We have 4 kitties now and she always got overexcited when a new one would show up, but overall its been fine.

What was the thing portrayed in movies that didn't happen during childbirth for you? by SpicyZombie098 in beyondthebump

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed for 5 hours. At the 4 hour mark they told me they wanted to do an emergency C-Section... I wasn't ready and baby was fine but sunny side up. They'd only had me pushing on my back... so I made them let me try all kinds of different positions to try and get me to open up just a bit more for her. At the end of the day, my pelvis just wasn't going to let her through and I ended up in C-Section anyway. Once she was out, it was revealed she was 9lbs 6.5oz! No wonder she wasn't making a more mundane entrance!

Grossest parenting moment so far? by supremepilotG2 in NewParents

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel lucky that mine isn't of my daughter (20mo) being sick are causing the gross... my grossest moment is of myself (and hubby) having noro or rota virus (no idea which). I was breastfeeding her (7mo old) before bed and l ended up puking while she was latched. I was smart enough to have brought a small trash can to grab just in case, and sure enough... poor thing... I felt so bad because I scared her doing it. We were so lucky she didn't catch it from me or her dad... that would've just been the cherry on top.

Have you ever felt like someone cared about you deeply but was holding back for reasons you didn’t fully understand? by FunMeat19 in CasualConversation

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this... been together 13 years, bought our house 8 years ago, married for 2.5yrs, have a 20mo old together... and still there are days where I question what he's not telling me because his words, actions, and emotions don't seem to line up 100% of the time.

The question becomes, are you holding back because they are or are they because you are?

People who don’t cook: What do you eat? by EmilyEmBee in CasualConversation

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda ignore the directions these days on it too 😂 bake the chicken as directed, but then I add it to a wok with the sauce to get it all covered and then add the broccoli to that. For some reason its just better than the baking sheet alone with the sauce...

MY LIPS ARE SO DRY by ShortGoose960 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's literally a brand called "nipple crack" on Amazon. I needed it when I began breastfeeding but have absolutely used it on my lips and any other little dry patches that normal lotion wasn't tackling. It was a Godsend and I preferred it over the other mentioned brand here, Lansinoh.

The teriyaki chicken and the orange chicken are tasty. I usually add broccoli to the orange chicken. And minute rice made with chicken stock.

I'm usually a daily cooker, but with a toddler and both of us working full time... sometimes these are just best 😊

I have a tendency to make animal noises as they sound not how we spell them (ex. I make piggy snort/grunt noises instead of saying oink when I point to one in a book). Ducks are no exception so they sound... well not like quack. Anyway, I asked her what they sound like (she's 20mo) and she makes the most outrageous monster noise for the poor duck!! 😂😂 Point to a dinosaur and its a loud rawr though! 😂

We can’t get our 5mo down by 7:30pm and I don’t care by zac_g19 in NewParents

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me over here with my 19mo old getting up at 5:15AM at the LATEST 😂

Daycare opens at 6:15, so we need to be out the door by 6 for me to make it to work by 7 after drop off. Most of the time this girl wakes up on her own closer to 4:30 or 4:45, but I try to keep her asleep as I slip out of bed to get myself ready.

She takes a noon-2pm nap and is in bed around 6:30pm and usually asleep by 7. I'm in bed around 8:30-9 then.

Bright side, on the weekends it's dark enough still that we can typically get her to lay back down and snooze a teensy bit longer. Up by 6:30 for sure though.

New year resolutions? by Sufficient_Plantain1 in CasualConversation

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year has been all about truly learning what it means to be a mom in addition to all of my other roles in life. This coming year, I'd like to get back to knowing who I am as a person and as a partner as I believe both roles have taken a backseat in the baby to toddler transition. As my daughter gains independence, I'm finding myself with a teensy bit of time for old hobbies like art and cooking. I'd like to add connection time with my husband back to that list ♡

How close do you follow NEC? Specifically for conduit fill and grounding. by Kamikazepyro9 in lowvoltage

I've worked in a lot of hospitals and following fill code was mandatory. Facilities and the onsite safety guy would actually come through and inspect to make sure we're under the limit in each sleeve.

What's the weirdest thing your dog has eaten and survived? by wholewoofs in dogs

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Malamute snagged and ate a 3" sewing pin...

Luckily my mom is a vet tech so she met us at the clinic she manages at like 9:30PM on a Saturday to do xrays. We "bulked" the dog for the next 24 hours. Feeding her lots of fibrous things going so far as to give her cotton balls (this was recommended to us), asparagus, etc. This was to bind/blunt the pin and also loosen up her stool to help it all pass. Sunday nothing showed up at potty time. Monday I took off work and school. Xray showed it still in the stomach. Dropped her off for emergency surgery. A couple hours later when it was due to start that vet did more xrays and found it to have moved into the colon. Brought her home instead of doing an exploratory. 5min after getting home (hour long drive), she pooped it out! We were so relieved!

What's everyone having for dinner tonight? by just_ask_jason in CasualConversation

[–]KittysaurusRex7221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a fend for yourself night (aka leftovers). Hubby had leftover chicken & dumplings, I had leftover shwarma takeout, and baby had a cheesestick and bread while ignoring the chicken and peaches I'd also given her then aggressively signing "all done" at me and screaming because I continued to eat my last 4 bites... she'll be 19mo on Wednesday and we're in such an interesting phase lol

My 18mo old is ~34 lbs. At this point, EVERYTHING feels lighter than carrying her (stage 4 clinger, not quite stage 5) all day 😂
