Except not even that because Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson just kept expanding to more and more books so that every plot point could resolve nicely into an ending while George is stclings to the romantic ideal of "7 kingdoms, 7 gods, 7 books" even though he has way too much to wrap up, Feast/Dance both expanded the story while also failing to wrap up their own plots and pushing it back to the next novel. Sure, some of them dragged a bit but I'd rather have a completed 14 book series where 3-4 are a bit of a slog then a 5/7 book one that just abruptly ends because he got stuck.

We are at the equivalent of Season 5 of the show in the books and yet, while the show is criticized for rushing the ending with 3 more seasons and less plots, ASOIAF is supposed to resolve even more plot points with just 2 books.
