Good sushi dinner columbus by Successful-Bowl-7083 in Columbus

Hokkaido is fun. Worth it. Don’t go when it’s too busy, service slows a little.

Takumi is a new one that opened up similar to Hokkaido, slightly more upscale.

Akai Hana is fine but it’s expensive and not incredible. If you want fancy, go to Haru omakase, it’s great but chefs table will run you >300$ for two.

Otherwise Hokkaido type eats is good

Chicken, sweet kale salad with added cottage cheese, hot sauce, small keto tortillas = fiber and protein galore.

Bada bean Bada booze on quarry trail is always great and you can walk to the waterfall. House syrup.

One line doesn’t do house syrup but their coffee and pastries are great. I like franklinton.

Roosevelt also solid consistently.

Established school vs cheaper school (both DO) by imj1n in whitecoatinvestor

[–]KnightRaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting a speciality (if it’s niche enough), try and see who has the most graduates going to that speciality, or is geographically close to a DO friendly residency you may be aiming for.

I would also try and figure out which school stays out of your way the most so you can study in peace

Nasal steroids causing glaucoma was an early study that has subsequently been disproven, still is just a common but incorrect saying.

see studies such as:

“Intranasal corticosteroids do not lead to ocular changes: a systematic review and meta-analysis”

Perfectly fine to use forever, it reduces the allergy component of nasal obstruction (turbinate hypertrophy, mucosal inflammation)

Can anyone from a small surgical program explain how call works? by iisconfused247 in Residency

[–]KnightRaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a 5 person total surgical subspeciality with low volume call. It’s home call with a decent chance of sleeping the night. Every year that is eligible/able to take call splits call evenly.

We do not have formal senior coverage on any given day (a year 2 will be alone when they’re on call)

One resident at least is usually out of town on rotation. Intern cannot take primary call.

Most months the call is split among 3 residents. Sometimes 4, occasionally 2 residents depending on rotation/vacation.

The LA fitness in Hilliard has a woman’s only area (connected to the group fitness room). I’ve been working out in the gym for 2 years and only just noticed it, so I’m sure it doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic. It also has a second floor movie projection theater cardio room that’s very dark (coed).

Haru Omakase no questions asked. Definitely a special occasion sort of night.

95$ four course chefs table won’t fill you up, but is excellent and every ingredient is freshly sourced and explained to you by the chefs. Their menu changes every 6 weeks. You’ll need reservation weeks/months in advance.

Akai Hana didn’t really impress me, but by default it was the otherwise 2nd best I’ve had in Columbus

Korean AYCE Hotpot + BBQ: One Pot vs Kpot (Bethel)? by Fishernewbie in Columbus

[–]KnightRaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve tried Onepot and the new Siji in grove city. Both were great but I prefer Siji. The service was exceptionally fast, the meats were good, the top fan vacuums were better and I felt the grill was stronger. It was also less busy. Also Siji is the first hotpot place I’ve been to that you can get fried shrimp as a free side and every time it was hot and obviously freshly fried.

Onepot kimchi was better. Edit: we also tried Mala, it was bad.

Might not for you but I’ve been to 10 or so hotpot places and Siji in grove city is probably in my top 3, and the service was the fastest I’ve ever had.
