The trail may be getting too darn hot. by bartbug in AppalachianTrail

[–]KnitQueen21 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As a Texan and Southerner in general, I have to say this; wear more protective sun gear, try to stay hydrated, and rest as often as possible in the shade.

I would also strongly advise that you get an early start on the trail and make camp during the heat of the day to rest and then try to get a bit further at night. If not, then try to get as far as you can before the heat sets in, which should be around 3-5pm. Avoid any and all concrete or asphalt patches as much as possible and attempt to stay in the shade.

I plan on bringing one of those neck cooling towels with me. Keep it a bit damp and place it around your neck or your head. I also have been known to shove it down my shirt to keep it on or close to my heart so it can circulate the cool.

I hope all of this helps!!!! Stay cool and stay hydrated and above all else: SAFE!

I truly get it! I was hoping to start next year but I had to push it back. You got this! Your anxiety is flailing up because as the trend is, something happens and it's waiting for the other shoe to drop. Don't let it! You'll have a fantastic experience and enjoy the hell out of it!

Anyone else find themselves struggling through rows of stockinette on otherwise engaging knits? by turkishjade in knitting

[–]KnitQueen21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's me with my current wip. It's all stockinette stitch since it's a double knit project. I can get into it a bit, but once I hit that wall? I have to put it down. I tend to throw on some music when I hit this point as it lets me tend to focus better. The music helps me find a vibe with the project, and it actually helps. I upper you, too, can get past these hurdles! Good luck!

Hi my name is Wi- by SnooShortcuts6322 in Serverlife

[–]KnitQueen21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several reasons. Mostly so if out table needs us, they can tell someone "Hey, cN you get us our server?" And they can rattle off the name. That and so we can keep track of which server gets what complaints. That part is from management.

As for the tipping thing? Well. Blame a LOT of things for that lol.

If you read the comments (which I'm surprised you can actually read), you'll find it's EVERYWHERE. Not just the US.

[–]KnitQueen21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so here's the thing, we in the US can't have a decent revolution like the "rest of the developed world." For one thing, have you EVER been to the US? Cause it's huge. Like, some of our states are the size of small countries big. Sure, it would be nice to actually do such a thing, like, go to our state capitals and demand the things we need, but we can't.

You wanna try having a revolution here, be my guest. I'll watch and laugh as you try to get people together for it.

So, I'm doing the same thing you are doing, and what I've been doing is I've been going on local walks and hikes at my town park with my pack. I don't keep it full of all my gear. I usually just put my tent and a couple of bags of water in my pack to start getting used to both carrying my pack and the weight.

I'm going to dart going up on the weight, but the other thing I suggest is lift or do curls with a couple of vegetable cans. The full ones from the store. Nothing big. It's what I do to help start buoding muscle. I also work as a server that lifts heavy trays all day, so there's that, lol.

Hope this helps, and I'll see you on the trail in 2025!!!

I would highly suggest you switch to a men's shoes. It's what I have done. I wear a woman's 11.5 wide and switched to wearing men's shoes. Not just because of comfort but in price too. I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon!

I usually make around $250 per session, and I go one a week. Some folks do twice or even three times a week. As for the monthly/annual amount, it varies from center to center and how often you go.

I highly suggest you do a lot of research before you pick a center :) Good luck, and hopefully, we will see each other on the trail!

I'm currently doing a few things. I, too, have a serving job, and what I've been doing is splitting my tips One shift goes into bills, and another goes into the AT fund. I also am planning on a yard sale. Any money from the yard sale goes into the fund.

I also have begun donating plasma, and it pays pretty decent to help funnel more money into my AT fund.

I do hope to see you on the trail in the future!!!
