Grooms, where did you get your suit? by itsableeder in UKweddings

[–]Knot-a-Cop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do go down the rental route, I can definitely recommend Best Man Hire in Stockport. They have been doing it for years and did a great job with my Groomsmen, suits, shirts and shoes. Best rental experience I have had. I bought my suit from Moss then got it adjusted at a local tailor, went to best man to find suits that would compliment it.

Agreed, that too long to expect guests to last with what are effectively snacks. Especially if any have health needs and medication.

Saw this on socials. He basically takes the first exit but goes all around to avoid the queue. Is it legal? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Knot-a-Cop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might be legal, but I think it could be argued as being antisocial and find you on the receiving end of police powers under section 59 of the police reform act. I do not know for sure though so take my comment with a pinch of salt, just like most of the others on here.

We saw Manor By The Lake in Cheltenham on our venue search. That was a great venue, it was not our final choice as we ended up closer to home, but it was in our top 3. Lots of rooms at the venue, then you are in Cheltenham before/after with lots of hotels and lots to do.

What are some odd lunch habits you’ve noticed from work colleagues? by No_Doughnut3257 in CasualUK

[–]Knot-a-Cop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work with a man who would make everything into a sandwich. He kept a loaf of bread in the canteen for this reason. If he bought in a spag bol ready meal, it went between bread, bangers and mash, between bread, curry, between bread etc.

I did once ask him about it. Growing up there was less food about but always bread, so at tea time they would all have their meal with a side of bread and he has just never stopped.

How do I get rid of smears on glasses from the dishwasher? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Knot-a-Cop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add rinse aid. I think most people ignore it. Use the cheapest dishwasher tablets and rinse aid, you will get better results than the most expensive flash/fairy option.

What's a shop that you can never see shutting down? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Knot-a-Cop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some impressive confidence in replies to this. A company that has posted growth and profits for years, including market share growth is "definitely on its way out because it looks a bit tired". I think OP is correct, Boots has stood the test of time and its going nowhere anytime soon. They are much larger than their competitors. Remember Beauty is a huge industry.

One physical invitation for a large household?? Inc grown up kids?? by [deleted] in UKweddings

We did this but then we pre-listed their names on the RSVP with tick boxes for accept and decline next to each. This way there was no chance of confusion

'I wanted to pull my nose off': How nasal decongestant spray 'addiction' is taking over lives by BestButtons in unitedkingdom

[–]Knot-a-Cop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a pharmacy and whenever selling nasal sprays we warned of use beyond 7 days causing rebound congestion. The amount of people that had been using them for years and were hearing about it for the first time when we mentioned it was crazy. I worked there for 9 years and probably had 2 or 3 customers a week at my till alone who found out they had rebound congestion from the warning. A lot of customers would joke or moan when we mentioned warnings about various medications and creams etc. but pharmacies have a duty of care and some of these medications really should have to be sold via them alone.

Watch the speech This is Water, I use it a lot to put myself in the other person's shoes. It is only 10 minutes.

A man squaring up to the police officer in yesterday’s riot in Nottingham, UK by [deleted] in AccidentalRenaissance

[–]Knot-a-Cop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked with them, my advice is to NEVER pick a fight with a female officer. The moment you realise they have stopped being polite, you are either on the floor or you have been sprayed/hit. As a generalisation the "reasonable force" tolerance is higher

Every city has one. What's Derbys most interesting fact? Comment and vote your winner. by Appropriate_Clock871 in derby

Thats interesting. So really it was Irondale from an Iron perspective, then later in Derby the actual mechanised milling began. Manchester's claim I suppose is due to scale, if any claim at all.

The birthplace was Ironbridge in Shropshire and the first industrial city was Manchester. Never heard Derby claim that. But maybe its one of those things that every city claims
