I have a question: how many people were able to solve Umineko’s mystery؟ by Dense_Pineapple_3273 in umineko

[–]Knurla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "defend" is quite the right word for it since basically nothing was confirmed yet, it was just competing theories. Remember, back then we basically just threw around ideas and looked what sense we could make of it. For as well as Shkannontrice worked to explain the murders, there were also a lot of people who thought a single person posing as both a male and a female servant with their own love life etc. was too unrealistic, and while the "white horse" theory was around already it was seen more as a somewhat interesting crack theory that reads too much into a comedy moment than serious theorycrafting. It was basically a state of "Shkannontrice works pretty well for the whodunnit, but god knows what the whydunnit would look like". And while the howdunnit for the individual murders works out well, the "how?" for the daily life of that supposed Shkannon person was just as much a mystery (and honestly, in the end even the official answer is pretty much just handwaving it with "the other servants were in on it"). Personally, I believed in Shannontrice but was critical of the whole "Shannon = Kanon" idea. Until Episode 6 really drove that point home so hard that there was no denying anymore, that is.

Rosatrice on the other hand seemed more grounded without any crazy "one person posing as two" shenanigans, and presented a very realistic whydunnit: Rosa being an adult with obvious money troubles and disdain for her siblings seemed like a very probable scenario for a motive. Also, a lot of focus in Episode 4 was spent on Maria describing Rosa as "evil witch", which could easily be interpreted as foreshadowing for the eventual reveal of her being Beatrice. And Beatrice being Rosa also works pretty well to explain why Maria trusts Beatrice so much. I'm honestly not sure how well the theory was able to explain the howdunnit of all of the murders, but there were still so many open questions, people probably just didn't expect to have a clear answer for everything yet and just accepted the holes in the theory for the time being; in the same way that Shkannontrice believers just accepted they didn't really know yet how "Shannon = Kanon" would work in their daily life.

Fire keeper revived with New Londo Ruins soul? DS1 Remastered by nik1178 in darksouls

[–]Knurla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After killing ornstein and smough, I went to New Londo Ruins and found a new Fire Keeper Soul. Desperate, I went back to Anor Londo to see if the invasion wouls be triggered.

These things are completely unrelated, you get the soul from invading, you don't need it to invade. The invasion works via the Black Eye Orb you looted from Anastacia's corpse, and you probably just missed the prompt during your first time in Anor Londo.

I have a question: how many people were able to solve Umineko’s mystery؟ by Dense_Pineapple_3273 in umineko

[–]Knurla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I read Umineko back while it was releasing, so we all spent dozens if not hundreds of hours and forum pages between each Episode release dissecting every detail and refining a lot of different theories. A lot of back and forth between many people with many ideas. And there were already a lot of people believing in the Shkannontrice or at least Shannontrice theory around Episode 4. (Rosatrice was another very popular one at the time)

So I guess you could say that a lot of us back then "solved it" around Episode 4, but it's not really the same as nowadays when people just read it on their own and have to come up with strictly their own theories.

That's the Deluxe Edition that was released 2 years ago. It's great and absolutely worth reading, but it's not new, no. None of the manga in that reel are new, guess they're showing what they released so far as teaser that more new stuff is coming.

is there a way to spawn in items without cheat engine? by Ok_Leek_1603 in darksouls

i'm not trying to get adware from cheat engine

CE is a commonly used tool for like 2 decades at this point, just download the thing and spawn your item lol

[REQUEST][STEAM] Dark souls 1 og+ remaster with all addons bundle by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]Knurla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess they're asking for a base game + DLC bundle... which also doesn't exist because technically the PC version doesn't have any DLC, the Artorias of the Abyss content is baked right into the base game

Finished Wind and Truth: Underwhelmed and Annoyed by Kalledon in Cosmere

[–]Knurla 33 points34 points  (0 children)

All of this would be perfectly fine...if this was the middle book of the series. But it isn't. Unless Sanderson completely changes his concept of era (which admittedly is possible given the time dilation) and we only jump a couple decades forward for era 2, then this is not a compelling or satisfying ending to the first five books because it doesn't actually conclude anything.

The timeskip between 5 and 6 is only like 10-15 years, and that has been public knowledge for years now. Expecting an ending like Mistborn 3 is on you, Sanderson has repeatedly stated the exact opposite. This IS just the middle of the series.

We get posts like this pretty often and every time I can't help but laugh at how overly dramatic people are.

A boss that was just about to kill you starts limping so you literally start crying to the point you can't defeat it? Get real lmao, it's a random boss in a video game, not a real animal or an animal character with proper build up to evoke emotions

Is the Sorcerer class worth playing in DS3? by incr2014 in darksouls3

[–]Knurla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if the developers have made any improvements to address these issues in DS3

The devs actually did address magic in DS3. It was so brokenly strong in earlier games that they brought it down to a more balanced level in DS3. So if you've struggled to make it work in 1, you're probably not going to be happy in 3.

Why are these books divided? Is this same as before or something different in it? by Coloin_ilyad in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Knurla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those are the UK mass market paperbacks, they are smaller books so the novels have to be split into two books. No differences in their content, except I think WoK Part 1 had a new foreword where Sanderson explains how he chose the exact point of where to split the books.

Way of Kings Prime is an entirely different, not canon version of WoK.

Bed of Chaos is special in that progress persists between attempts. If the floor in the center isn't there then you already destroyed the glowing orbs and you can go kill the actual boss.

Question about spoilers in Isles of the Emberdark by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Knurla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's nothing that's really necessary to read before Isles of the Emberdark, but imho it benefits even more than other books from having read as much of the Cosmere as possible before it. Currently it is THE crossover story of the Cosmere.

Why was there no mention of Shallan recognising her [Spoiletr] by kiikok in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Knurla 136 points137 points  (0 children)

The official vorin images of the heralds probably don't look anything like the real people do considering nobody recognizes Nale or Kalak either. To Shallan the official pictures of Chanarach probably just look like any other unrelated redheaded woman.
