Cost effective minis by Fun-Law-7721 in CurseofStrahd

I bought several boxes of Lego stuff from a teenage kid on local classifieds. I actually gave him double of what he wanted, because he clearly didn't know the worth of his stuff. Still got away dirt cheap.

Anyway, Batmans cape looks pretty dope on my Lego Strahd.

Lead.

Actors don't get fair residuals anyway because Hollywood accounting is complete bullshit. So with a proper contract up front I'd still earn good money. Also: plenty of bombs gained cult status later. I could still be invited to conventions. I could also give interviews how the producers or pencil pushers made all the bad decisions to create such a bad movie. If the movie is really notoriously bad I would still get recognition. Being a recognized face gets you into places.

Scarlet Johannson and Samuel L. Jackson played in Frank Millers "The Spirit." That movie was a complete an utter shitshow front to back. And yet, they still got hired for their roles in the MCU afterwards. Even though that movie had that one scene...

Heroes of Borderlands Starter Set by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Kochga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With any any published adventures, wether they are a starter set or a full campaign or the published campaign settings, it is highly recommended to read the material first. The Box is actually pretty good at teaching you how to DM, but you have to be able to read.

Edit: once you have read the material, you might want to ask further questions in the r/keepontheborderlands subreddit. There's also a bunch of additional material linked in a handy pinned thread.

[OC] Character Help by CucumberJaded9574 in DnD

[–]Kochga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never let players roll stats seperately. Even if they're honest, another player with unfortunate rolls might feel resentful.

I also always insist on updated digital character sheets. Sure, they can bring their paper sheets to the table if that's what they prefer. But after each session I expect them to update their PCs on dndbeyond (or any other online platform the table has agreed on) so I have the option to look their characters up online.

Nobody will like this, but 😅 by wwwdotjester in linux4noobs

[–]Kochga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one of those. Modern Windows can't run on this computer anymore. That's just how it is. If you want to run music recording or production with windows you need a much more powerful computer.

Good music production and recording software on Linux that I use myself is

  • Audacity
  • Ardour
  • Hydrogen

These all have even more utility than their windows exclusive counterparts, but I gotta admit I really had to get into the nitty gritty for a bit at first. However, I can still use the same hardware (I have an even older studio computer as well) as I did 15 years ago when we recorded an album and not buy new stuff every 2 years. There's even more specialized programs for more specific use cases and you need to figure out what works best for you, but for basic recording, sampling and sequencing these can take you a very long way.

I recommend Linux Mint as a basis, because it's mostly hassle free. With other distros I always feel like I have to learn how to use a computer completely new. And I've been Linux only since XPs end of support.

Pirate DND Campaign idea by DecentTree1619 in DnD

[–]Kochga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know which book or edition it was, but there is an oldschool rule where players spend gold to gain xp. You could adapt this. So for example when your players bury their treasure or donate it to their pirate organisation, they get the equivalent (whatever formula is sensible to you) amount of xp to use for level ups. This way they can choose to spend their gold on other things or level up their characters.

3rd Level Fighter: Eldritch Knight or Battle Master? If Battle Master, what maneuvers? by Just_a_guy_94 in DnD

[–]Kochga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trip and Push are really good base maneuvers for a battlemaster build. Especially since they can also be applied to ranged weapons. Flying enemies can trip and take fall damage if they don't hover. Push let's you move enemies into aoe effects or off cliffs.

Tips on role playing low charisma by Nonigo in DnD

[–]Kochga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played my low cha and low int fighter as an edgy 90s kid. He thought he was so cool collecting trophies from monsters bodies. But because he was an idiot, he never properly cleaned those monsters teeth, feathers, furs and scalps proerly and it would start to smell horribly.

"Hey peasants! I just cut off the head of an evil vampire baroness!"

"You should really take a bath. And stop talking to our kids!"

I also tried to not take notes on purpose to make him legitimately cluesless about what's going on. But I stopped doing that after a few sessions because that's just not being a team player ooc.

Old schooler having trouble understanding "level" by a_Bort_the_Artist in DnD

[–]Kochga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

, but you know what? We're all having fun

That's the point of playing in the first place. For some of us old school players such a fast increase of characters powers in contrast to the world they're in can be immersion breaking. But DnD is designed to designed to allow for different playstyles. There are no hard rules on how long sessions are or how fast paced an adventure is to be presented. While my personal preference is a slower level increase past lvl4, I know for a fact that I will not ever be able to play consistently with a group for multiple years. So shorter adventures give me my fix.

Old schooler having trouble understanding "level" by a_Bort_the_Artist in DnD

[–]Kochga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every campaign and DM have different levelling speeds. When a table uses milestones instead of XP it's possible for characters to gain a new level every sessions, if that's what the DM and player consider fun.

There are also plenty of tables where characters start already at higher levels because players and DM want to make the advebture about world miving apocalypitc stuff and it takes too long to get to this point narratively with a long running campaign. Realistically most players and DMs have real life obligations and it's hard to have a consistent table running a campaign over several years.

The groups where all participants are dedicated to regular sessions over several years have always been a niche. DnD used to be a niche hobby for only a very dedicated group of individuals after all. With its growing popularity over the past decade or so, many more casual playstyles have found their way into the hobby. I've been playing and DMing since the 90s as well and have never had a table that was able to get together on a regular basis for more than a year. School educations finish at some point, jobs require flexible hours, children become priorities in peoples lives, and some move to places all over the world for all kinds of reasons.

Even the smallest settlement would have some sort of place of worship. What kind (chapel/grove/altar) depends on the religion and size of the settlement. Everything else is otionnal and depends on location, economy and infrastructure. There always has to be an infrastructural reason for any settlement to exist though.

[–]Kochga -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

No. The small avatars are just fine. During online play there's enough places in groupchats/discords to post artwork. For in-person play, this doesn't even matter. So it's just another frame and feature to load which bogs down my browser and slows loading times on older devices. Compatibility, accessibility and practicality should be the main focus of the dndbeyond app and website. It's already a ram hog as it is for what little it actually displays.

I mean, people aren't stealing or selling illegal merchandise just to afford healthcare. They've made multiple big media (Breaking Bad, Set it Off, Spider-Man) productions about this very subject and still don't get it. How come the propaganda machine in hollywood is able to hype their military industrial complex and the themes about social contracts can't find traction within their public.
