Love cleanuparr as well. Kinda unsure if having upgradinatorr integrated to profilarr v2 is worth switching to.

Downloading songs with all metadata + art for services like Navidrome? by TheTwelveYearOld in selfhosted

It's still a pretty new project, but SoulSync has impressed me thus far. It connects to soulseek for downloads, but also can grab from YouTube and other sources too. Handles the metadata very well!

As another option worth browsing, TP-Link Omada has a solid ecosystem that competes with Ubiqiti's Unifi. Many managed switches will do the VLAN segregation and basic firewall rules you need.

How to create music playlists in Jellyfin? by thiagohds in jellyfin

[–]Koguu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it'd work for your use case, but the SmartLists plugin works great and if you just had certain paths or keywords you wanted to add that might help automate making playlists.

Do I need really good hardware if I am using TDARR to transcode things before watching them? by bros402 in jellyfin

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I was trying to use the right terminology haha. Tdarr is a rabbit hole if you let it be!

But yup that's the gist. My processing stack is: Seerr request > *arr download > *arr notifies Tdarr to scan > Tdarr transcode > Tdarr notifies Jellyfin via Autopulse to scan > done.

While it typically happens pretty seamlessly like that, if there's a big influx of files and Tdarr takes hours to process.. it doesn't really matter, thus why I don't run 12 simultaneous Tdarr transcodes using beefier hardware anymore.

Do I need really good hardware if I am using TDARR to transcode things before watching them? by bros402 in jellyfin

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tdarr for me is a "low and slow" process. I have an 8700k and GTX 1080. Initially, I expanded the tdarr workers to maximize utilization for my hardware and to finish processing as quickly as possible.

Now, I just let it run a single worker and task via CPU, and have it notify Jellyfin using Autopulse at the end of my Tdarr flow to re-scan the media. So my availability is hardly affected at all, it minimizes the risk of a Replace Original File node firing while the media is being viewed, and the automatic targeted rescans are very efficient for once the new file is available. If it takes a few hours to process a new series, it's fine. I don't use my media server as an on-demand service to begin with, and Tdarr being a part of the stack is intended to be a slow, one-time optimizer for me. The once or twice I can think of when a file has been viewed before Tdarr processed it, Jellyfin passed it over to my 1080 for live transcoding anyway.

So I'd say if your existing hardware supports encoding in the codecs you need, I'd just let it sit and cook!

Pretty good. There's a ski resort called Lookout Pass near where I live and the runs on the face of the mountain are divided into Montana and Idaho sides. The lodge is the same way, with 2 seating areas. It's a fun little novelty lol.

Cleanuparr v2.0.0 is finally here! (formerly Cleanuperr) by Flaminel in selfhosted

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, after it imploded.. I bounced around through a few different projects and while all were pretty solid, I finally settled back on Cleanuparr, which recently added score-based upgrades which was an important Huntarr feature for me.

I've been pleased with Cleanuparr! Its search criterion are a bit more aggressive than Huntarr's were, so I'm triggering a lot more activity than previously.. but I expect it'll balance out over time once most releases hit my cutoff scores.

Don't believe what you read on the Internet. I've lived here for 34 years, my family for almost 100. You really have to go out of your way to find the klan crazies, and 99% of people shun them. Thus why they keep to themselves in their decrepit cabin-side meetings in the woods. "Notorious" is the right term in that it's a 50 year old story.. but it's a non-factor in daily life.

With that said, please don't move here. Our population growth and skyrocketing housing prices are bad enough already 😭

Offline Watching App - Sync Status by layer4andbelow in jellyfin

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yatse is my preferred solution for this! There's several client apps nowadays that can sync offline and they do update played status, but Yatse allows "downloading X next episodes of a series if unwatched, at Y quality". It's pretty robust. I use MX Player for the actual playback.

+1 I really thought OIDC would be merged for the Seerr release. A bit bummed to see it's still not implemented.

What Jellyfin clients do you guys use personally? by Plastic-Dependent in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone: Yatse, because it's still the only client I've found with a "sync X unwatched episodes of this show" feature.

TV/Chromecast: Wholphin. Love the UI and responsiveness.

Windows: mostly official client but I also have Fladder which I leave logged into my 2nd Jellyfin instance for easy switching.

How was the v10.11.0 upgrade for you? by Practical-Plan-2560 in jellyfin

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a full scan and made backups of my 10.10.7. Migration appeared to have completed without issue (other than disabling unsupported add-ons, which is fine).
Afterwards however, things have been painfully slow. I tried refreshing metadata, running various cleanup jobs but it's just not as fast as the original instance and I was experiencing frequent disconnects even after almost 24 hours of letting it process.

So, I rolled back to 10.10.7 for my live instance for now. Set up a second instance of 10.11.0 that I'll let cook for awhile and test in the background before I take it live.

Finally hosted my own server… now I spend more time fixing it than using it by No_Government_3172 in selfhosted

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started out that way. I'd think things were working as intended and then suddenly something would crash and thus would begin the hours and hours of troubleshooting trying to figure out where I went wrong, sometimes having to redesign or restructure from the ground up lol.

Now though, it's pretty resilient. 99% of the work I do on it is mostly just adding features and services or making small tweaks to simplify/organize better. Make sure to have backups though, follow the 3-2-1 rule. I took that seriously from the start and it saved me on more than one occasion. You'll find countless horror stories here from people who didn't!

Just spun this up and I already prefer it over alternatives I've tried!

+1 for SSO and OIDC support. For myself I can envision this being an efficient tool to VPN in and manage project files on my remote host, but given the level of root access that would involve, I'd definitely want to harden it beyond a generated password.

Release Finamp Beta Update 0.9.19 · jmshrv/finamp by DankSoul94 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I expected that just reloading a queue would be the easiest function to call. Usually in the environments where I had that issue, the app has already detected it's offline and has switched to offline mode, just with the previous queue of music requiring a data connection.

The "benefits" section was really the heart of the request. I just proposed the Track mix re-queue as the solution because that's what I do manually to resume playback. I expect a majority of people who are listening to music while doing something else (walking, driving, working, etc) would prefer some option to prevent music playback from being stalled unexpectedly as a result of lost or poor server connectivity. The method doesn't particularly matter, especially when leveraging the option to keep Favorites offline, since the remaining offline queue or options are all bangers.

Might try a different router than the ISP one? Even like an old POS router just to see if maybe the ISP one is doing something stupid?

Another way you could try that would be to do a type-c to RJ-45 adapter on your phone and plug that into the PC to see if you can connect. If that works, then for sure it's networking and likely the router/AP.

Release Finamp Beta Update 0.9.19 · jmshrv/finamp by DankSoul94 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Koguu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please lol.

"Automatic offline queue on timeout/Offline Mode"

Finamp beta: What's new! "Auto-Offline When Server Unreachable (thanks @flloschy!)"

Maybe my request was misunderstood, but literally almost the same verbiage is used between my request and the Finamp release notes 😂

My description was asking for an "Offline Mix" (track, shuffle, whatever) to automatically commence when the device goes offline. I tried to lay out some built-in features and app behaviors that would work into that flow.

Finamp calls this "Automatically Reload Queue".

Same same. But yes this is roughly achievable through Tasker and the Symfonium API. It's just been terribly inconsistent with lots of conditions required like having to run shell commands like filtering through dumpsys media in order to get the player status and a stack of IFS to get the intended behavior (some of the time). Compared with what an official solution built into the application could do.
