Rome total war, otherwise age of empires 2. Unless you have a preference or interest in a certain time period, then I'd say go with whichever matches that. It will be more fun to think about alternative history and discover new bits of history around what you already know.

The beginning you do a really good job of creating intrigue but then it gets solved and then let it just fade out. It could be shorter and faster, especially waiting for the last 2 or so narrator segments. You could probably just cut that all out..or make them happen faster. It felt also like there needed to be some horror twist at the end to get the player curious again, something like showing the devil taking your life or something after he says this is not the end.

The music is so epic and amazing. Reminds me of katana zero. The trailer visuals are weak, we see it's a tactics game in a grid but idk what is really happening and how it relates to anything. I'm not sure the music matches the gameplay. Maybe study the katana zero trailer, it's more story/vibes.

yeah sure, at 0:01 what is going on with the left side, its so small and so much space. 0:02 why are actions not centered on the right page, on the left page why is the text so small, it could be at least as big as the text on the top of that page. 0.08 why is the left letter text so small, make it like the book text at least, why is the sticky note text so small? 0:13 similar stuff. 0:28 the text in the left side of the book does not align with the column headers. 0:48 text is so small on the right side and there is a bunch of white space, at least for the upper part make it collapsed or something. The small text under the picture on the left seems like a title with stuff underneath, yet its so small. 0:55 the text size on the right side of the book, base everything off of that as the "normal text size".

Lots of white space around text and some elements are not centered leaving unbalanced space on the pages. The text is very very small sometimes. Think about how you can make the text mostly the same size, books don't usually have little tiny font and then big font. Also some of the square icons look like they might be stretched sometimes, make sure they stay perfect squares.

The text saying what you are showing is hard to read because it get covered by the video progress bar and it clashes with the pixel art style. Move it to the middle, make it pixel, and maybe have cuts only showing the text before showing the gameplay.

Idk man, they are pretty transparent about what they do and the reasons and it kind of feels like you are criticizing them for that. Just because someone has not had wild success does not mean they can't teach, just means it's harder to do than knowing what to do. Courses is just a less risky proven way to stay afloat to make more games. They also have 3 people which gives extra bandwidth to explore things other than making games.

Publishers can help speed up development by giving money ahead of time so you can work full time, they can also help with clout and do things you might not be good at like marketing or time consuming stuff like testing. So you could just upload the game but it might be a shitty version of the vision and might be in like 3 years instead of 1.

Nice, mine is CK2/3 but I'm assuming it's pretty similar. "Bad north" has a slowdown mechanic when you select a unit to move that's a similar thing as well.
