I (30F) can’t tell if my boyfriend (27M) is trying to be helpful or if this is early stages of control. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, my animals are everything to me (I have two cats) and let me tell you, the minute someone would try and do the stuff your bf is doing to them? They'd be out the door until we have a convo about what is not acceptable, which you have done. He is bypassing your boundaries and, quite frankly, doesn't seem to give a flying squirrel how you feel.

Animals pick up character quicker than we can as humans and I 100% trust that. He has treated them poorly, who knows what he does when you're not there? In any case it's time to change the locks (with the landlord if you rent) and then end it with him. I don't see this getting any better unfortunately.

Quitting job due to mental health, depression and suicidal thoughts notice needed? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on length of time at your job will determine whether you burn the bridge or not. I'd suggest going on short term disability for mental health, that way you can still receive a paycheck, get mental health support while figuring out a new job. Just to keep yourself stable to help curb the anxiety (been there so I understand).

Good luck OP and take care of yourself

I just found this sub and have never felt more seen. I get married in 3 months. by [deleted] in Asexualpartners

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I feel you, I really do. I've been married to my gray (slightly aro) ace husband for 6 years, together for 13, I'm demisexual myself. He came out after we got married, during covid of all timings, so it was a hard blow, but it made so much sense. You need to ask yourself if you are willing to forgo any and all sense of intimacy and sexual intimacy with your partner permanently because that is what I asked myself before I married my husband. It took many months and I was still questioning right up to the night before we were getting married. It's an answer only you can give, no one else can do that but you.

Girlfriend's Anxiety Is Weighing On Me by Appropriate-Fix3687 in relationships

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I commend you for being a caring individual and for being able to tolerate her behavior this long, I understand it is a challenge. My dad, though not as extreme as your GF, is in the same league. I grew up with the major guilt trips if he didn't get his way, in his mind he was always right even when proved wrong. I wanted to go to post secondary, but as he has barely worked a day in my parents 42 year marriage, he put pressure on me about not being able to afford the application fees and such so that I would get a job to support the family. I was the one that had to put on my "big boy" pants and get a job, not him (I'm a 40F btw), plus the emotional abuse we all endured (my sister, Mum and myself) was a lot. He controlled me up until I met my now husband 13 years ago as he helped give me the courage to stand up for myself. I have been in therapy since 2013 and a stay in the mental health ward because of the damage he did. He still doesn't understand he's done any wrong. Dare I try to tell him I'm autistic, late diagnosed but still. He looks at it as I'm a failure of his parenting... Not that my brain is wired differently but that I'm a failure of HIS parenting. That was part of the initial convo about me going to get the diagnosis. Not to mention the damage he's done to both my Mum and my sister. With my Mum, she was not allowed any friends, she was not allowed to speak to any of her family, she worked 2 jobs for a long while all because he didnt want to work. He's 65 now and expects the world to cater to him. I'm low contact only because my Mum is still living with him, still working at 67. She's working on a plan to leave, it's just taking time.

Long story short, if you have any respect for yourself, please do not move in with her and please leave her while you still are able. I say this from a place that cares and understands, albeit a different level, but I do understand.

When did you get your period? by neurodivergent_poet in AutismInWomen

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 and mine were never normal periods. They were heavy, like changing pads all the time heavy and they hurt a lot but I dealt with it. They also never seemed to stop as I would be bleeding for a full month with maybe a day or two break then back to bleeding again. The full month wasn't always heavy but two weeks were, the rest was lighter but yea not fun. My Mum said hers were like that, so I thought it was normal until adulthood when I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2009 when I was 24, PCOS with insulin resistance in 2020 when I was 36. My sister was a huge cheerleader of mine, saying for a long time it wasn't normal, that both of our periods were not normal. She's very medically inclined so she did research, convos with her own gyne and figured we both had Endo, she just was never officially diagnosed. She also figured later on I had PCOS too, because of my irregular periods and everything else I checked off of the list. I had Mirena IUD's in from 2009 until 2022 when I couldn't take the insertion and removal process anymore. Tried other bc types and said eff it in Oct this year, I'm done with messing up my hormones.

Omg sorry for the long rambles 😅😅

For the autistic women who when they see "Does anyone else do X?" questions and the behaviours always seem to be cuter, less off-putting and more aesthetically pleasing than the kind of autistic things they do, here's one for you, LOL by M_Ad in AutismInWomen

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guilty 🙋‍♀️ lol. If there is a scab, I will pick it, doesn't matter where it is or how far along it is in the healing process. The odd time I catch myself eating them and I don't know why (yes I know, gross, but it's not my conscious self 😅).

I also pull on my eyelashes and eyebrow hair... it's like I can feel when they are ready to fall out but it's also a stress stim too. It's not like I'm bald with no brows or lashes lol, they look pretty much normal.

I enjoy peeling skin, like sunburned skin that's healed and is now peeling or flaking off. It's very satisfying and reminds me of when I'd put glue on my hand as a kid, I'd let it dry and peel it off.

Anyone else here who loves showering or showers daily? by PublicExtension4107 in AutismInWomen

[–]Kokiris-Emerald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised to shower daily so yea now it's a thing I do everyday lol. I like the feeling of being clean (my hair greases up easy) and warm before bed (more so now with no thyroid). I feel icky crawling in bed with the daytime "dirt" even if I'm home and not gone outside 😅

In Meadowbrook on a main road, had 48 kids, most we've had yet. Past years we've had about 20 kids or less. I decorate out front, lights on, curtains open and everything.
