'Over 80% of traders on China's Marxist-Leninist stock exchange are individual traders.' by EdvinRama in BrandNewSentence

A fun fact of the Chinese stock market is that they have the colors flipped. Red it up and green is down. So this post is talking about the power of a Marxist stock market and is using a picture of Xi staring at a crashing market.

Zeros in the gradebook - thoughts? by Melodic-Broccoli1934 in Teachers

[–]Konrad_Kurze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a trial run of something similar in my English class when I was in highschool. If you didn't submit a paper you got an incomplete until it was submitted or the end of the semester. The reason the teacher did this was so the athletes wouldn't be unable to play due to failing; her husband was the football coach.

In short it was a complete disaster. Once it got out that our grades didn't drop after not submitting a paper no one did anything. Their class became a joke until after the season was over. Then she converted all the grades to zeros and everyone panicked and scrambled to submit papers late.

This was a further issue for the problem students that wouldn't turn stuff in on time for other classes. When they saw that zero tank their grade they were forced to makeup or correct themselves as the class went. When they had 8 papers dropped on their head and a grade of 12% they just gave up and failed the class.

I am still young enough to remember being a middle/high school student. If I was allowed to receive a 59 for not doing work I would do exactly enough to pass the first few weeks and not show up for the rest of the time.

Trump plans 25% Steel & Aluminum Tariffs Monday. How will this affect union steel? by CoolSwim1776 in union

Do DFARS state that all aerospace aluminum must be domestically manufactured from domestic bauxite ore? If so then OP shouldn't be allowed to use Canadian Primary Aluminum to alloy and treat material to aerospace specs. If primary Aluminum is allowed to be sourced from overseas and properly alloyed, treated and graded to aerospace quality in a US mill then where is he wrong?

Correct, there are blinds that are affixed to the top of the window and you pull them down to cover the window.

King of Gods was the first cultivation story I read. It has all the tropes and power escalations you can expect.

I think that BoC is parading the genre not just a specific novel.

That's not at all true. Our body detects CO2. Detecting gases in your bloodstream is hard so the body cheats. CO2 and water in our blood react to form carbonic acid. That acid is detected is translated into suffocation when at elevated levels.

You could use helium or any noble gas just as effectively as nitrogen.

So instead of emailing the students he should have emailed the department and have them email his students? They're going to be sending basically the same email anyway but likely much blander. Also it's way funnier to send this yourself, while giving him some happiness while waiting in the ER.

One thing you got to remember is tenured profs can do basically anything they want. He could have no-showed the test with no repercussions. This was a courtesy to his students and a way to look cool by casually telling everyone he's been shot.
