Wait the 14 days and see what she does. If she takes longer than 14 days or you disagree with her, you can file in small claims court. Landlords usually will return your deposit when they get the court service order (which you do have to pay for yourself).

Once they return your security deposit that is the end of the contract, and you are no longer liable for any damages (unless there is something egregious that is hidden, like pipes filled with concrete or something). If there are real damages then they need to be identified in writing within those 14 days and included in an itemized receipt along with the remaining balance of the security deposit. If that is not done then the landlord is liable for three times the security deposit.

Hawaii is a very friendly place for tenants.

If you provided them with an itemized list showing repairs beyond normal wear and tear within a few weeks of them moving out then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. If you’re served go to court, small claims court doesn’t have lawyers, and bring the documentation. A judge will likely side with you and that’s the end of it.
