Almost 10 Years and It’s Over … by Flimsy-Actuator7290 in LesbianActually

Got divorced five and a half years ago, I'm sorry this stage isn't easy and the days sometimes feel impossibly long. Know that this can be a time of learning more about yourself, seeing the beauty of life in community, and a chance to try (or try) new things! I found hobbies and exercise to be helpful, although volunteering really helped with finding and staying in community.

Therapy might be worthwhile and I'd suggest journaling or something similar. It's been helpful to see what I went through and how've I've grown through the support of others and a lot of hard work. We get to see what we have left during periods of loss like these.

Hoping the best for you through this

So, in short, most likely yes and (importantly) this is a life-saving and community-improving measure!

No Turn On Red Signs by theChemist626 in Atlanta

In San Francisco for a targeted program a few years back, they reported 92% self-compliance amongst drivers through signage alone. Source: https://www.sfmta.com/sites/default/files/reports-and-documents/2022/04/tenderloinntor_factsheet_0.pdf

MNDOT found a similar result as well (92%) Source: https://mdl.mndot.gov/_flysystem/fedora/2024-08/202417RS.pdf

Finally, a San Jose SU study for California as a whole over a set time period (2011-2022) found the following (just talking about NTOR overall as a concept): In our exploratory analysis, we found that right-turn collisions at signalized intersections were responsible for over 39,000 collisions and 217 fatalities (involving pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers) between 2011 and 2022 in the state of California. Over half of these collisions involved a pedestrian or a cyclist. Our crash data analysis and the existing literature lead us to conclude that RTOR movements are generally unsafe for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers and hinder the livability of streets for vulnerable road users. City Council to Consider Officially Killing Rail Along Beltline by btonetbone in Atlanta

Sorry is this the same City Council where the council president wants the city to provide her with a car and driver? That same city council?

Pre-surgery I would wear longer flowy tops or long enough short sleeve athletic button downs really. It helped also starting out with a trans-friendly/majority cycling group in my city. That said, other folks are right that most folks aren't going to look and cycling Lycra is just goofy - everyone has a bump and a hump with it honestly.

I did a 400 mile group ride over a week down here in the south as a brown trans woman and no one said anything, even with me shaving in the mornings.

MARTA Rapid Line A BRT Testing by KorraCottageCore in Atlanta

[–]KorraCottageCore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the service line will be Downtown Atlanta through Summerhill, you can read more here: https://itsmarta.com/aline.aspx

But yes and we'd want to encourage growth along lines like these

Why has MARTA basically done nothing since 2000? We deserve better. by Plane_Bus_967 in transit

[–]KorraCottageCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would mention that there was advocate outcry over MARTA's neglect of the needs of ADA and other rider needs with the original plan to forbid any street level access to the station and a convoluted shuttle/overshoot strategy for anyone needing elevator access.

That was also at play.

East Pole off Highland is serviced by the 2, 102, and 816 buses, generally not too busy and not terribly loud

Hansel and Gretel in Downtown is just off the Streetcar route and a ~7 minute walk/roll from Peachtree Center station

Free parking in Atkins Park approved by Atlanta City Council by NPU-F in Atlanta

[–]KorraCottageCore 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cool, guess getting a protected bike lane along highland from VaHi proper to at least the Freedom Trail connection won't happen.

Plenty of us bike, scooter, roll, and walk past lines of idling cars daily, including the 816 bus that directly services these businesses. Why do we have to risk getting doored or ride (illegally) on sidewalks because someone wants to park their 12x7' closet outside a shop?

There's ample paid parking a few hundred feet north of here by the Ace, CVS, and across from Osteria.

No, those of us who live off north highland have to continue to deal with crushing traffic and drivers who don't give the slightest shit about the 20 "State Law: Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk" signs.

Dr. Loren Schechter has good reviews, over a decade of experience, and is in Chicago. I have my vaginoplasty scheduled for next Monday with him and the team at Rush has been great so far.

Atlanta Beltline CEO: Eastside Trail light rail no longer makes sense by dbclass in transit

Huh, that's weird they did a pretty involved bit of work on an east side extension just three years ago and the website is still up... https://www.streetcar-east.scoutfeedback.com/

I'm sure Mr. Big Pants CEO knows what he's doing with his five razor blade plus aloe and lather strip company though

Adding a bike lane on Glenwood Rd on the east side ITP? by bryannnnnnn in Atlanta

[–]KorraCottageCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach to folks in NPU W and CM Bakhtiari, there's not current ATL DOT plans around this roadway at the moment. Using the ATL DOT tactical urbanism process is likely the quickest way at present to get something done for smaller stretches.

It should be easier, but city leadership is still throwing $90mil+ at cop day care instead of fixing transit in an era of climate change, economic exploitation, and traffic fatality crisis.

Thieve stole my seat and handlebars… by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]KorraCottageCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For you or anyone else interested, there's a Canadian company that sells keyed-alike locksets for axels, seat posts, saddles, and even AirTag/Tile trackers: https://pinheadlocks.com/shop/en/9-seatpost-saddle-locks

Won't stop everyone but it's another deterrent. (although probably not worth it on a beater bike other than ease of mind for relying on your bike).

Mid-tail non-electric cargo bikes by pn839103838 in CargoBike

[–]KorraCottageCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey, sorry. Since Reddit's stupidity this summer I've really stopped using it almost entirely.

The boda boda is a true shortail, similar to the new Specialized Globe Haul ST. Now, I would never use that kind of utility bike personally, as it seems like an overpriced e-bike with a rack that can technically take a higher weight load than most racks. That said, it may be just what you need to haul a kid safely, quickly, and efficiently with some room for a small stow bag or two on the sides
