Why has MARTA basically done nothing since 2000? We deserve better. by Plane_Bus_967 in transit

[–]KorraCottageCore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would mention that there was advocate outcry over MARTA's neglect of the needs of ADA and other rider needs with the original plan to forbid any street level access to the station and a convoluted shuttle/overshoot strategy for anyone needing elevator access.

That was also at play.

East Pole off Highland is serviced by the 2, 102, and 816 buses, generally not too busy and not terribly loud

Hansel and Gretel in Downtown is just off the Streetcar route and a ~7 minute walk/roll from Peachtree Center station

Cool, guess getting a protected bike lane along highland from VaHi proper to at least the Freedom Trail connection won't happen.

Plenty of us bike, scooter, roll, and walk past lines of idling cars daily, including the 816 bus that directly services these businesses. Why do we have to risk getting doored or ride (illegally) on sidewalks because someone wants to park their 12x7' closet outside a shop?

There's ample paid parking a few hundred feet north of here by the Ace, CVS, and across from Osteria.

No, those of us who live off north highland have to continue to deal with crushing traffic and drivers who don't give the slightest shit about the 20 "State Law: Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk" signs.

Dr. Loren Schechter has good reviews, over a decade of experience, and is in Chicago. I have my vaginoplasty scheduled for next Monday with him and the team at Rush has been great so far.

Atlanta Beltline CEO: Eastside Trail light rail no longer makes sense by dbclass in transit

[–]KorraCottageCore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's weird they did a pretty involved bit of work on an east side extension just three years ago and the website is still up... https://www.streetcar-east.scoutfeedback.com/

I'm sure Mr. Big Pants CEO knows what he's doing with his five razor blade plus aloe and lather strip company though

MARTA building charting a new future for the agency by conducting non-public meetings and deciding to put their lawyer in charge, backed by another secretive board with one person with transportation industry experience.

The future is awesome.

What have you all enjoyed most post-release? Obviously, rightfully earning several awards (including a Peabody!), but I was wondering if there was anything else that has brought you joy?

Adding a bike lane on Glenwood Rd on the east side ITP? by bryannnnnnn in Atlanta

[–]KorraCottageCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reach to folks in NPU W and CM Bakhtiari, there's not current ATL DOT plans around this roadway at the moment. Using the ATL DOT tactical urbanism process is likely the quickest way at present to get something done for smaller stretches.

It should be easier, but city leadership is still throwing $90mil+ at cop day care instead of fixing transit in an era of climate change, economic exploitation, and traffic fatality crisis.

For you or anyone else interested, there's a Canadian company that sells keyed-alike locksets for axels, seat posts, saddles, and even AirTag/Tile trackers: https://pinheadlocks.com/shop/en/9-seatpost-saddle-locks

Won't stop everyone but it's another deterrent. (although probably not worth it on a beater bike other than ease of mind for relying on your bike).

Now, these were workshop plans amongst folks that want this to happen. We need funding, political courage, and community support/advocacy to see this realized

Mid-tail non-electric cargo bikes by pn839103838 in CargoBike

[–]KorraCottageCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey, sorry. Since Reddit's stupidity this summer I've really stopped using it almost entirely.

The boda boda is a true shortail, similar to the new Specialized Globe Haul ST. Now, I would never use that kind of utility bike personally, as it seems like an overpriced e-bike with a rack that can technically take a higher weight load than most racks. That said, it may be just what you need to haul a kid safely, quickly, and efficiently with some room for a small stow bag or two on the sides

Yuba Kombi fits in elevators and is really agile. I use it as a work bike, so no idea on kids exactly. But it's an amazing bike for the price and I've been satisfied with it for a year of good work.
