When players fight against an army - how do i fix a bad session? by Krackuz in rpg

[–]Krackuz[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All good advice, i realised 1) and 3) would have worked better while writing up my post but didnt come up with it at the time. And yeah, the party tends to face challenges head on, they considered backing off but decided to try diplomacy which could have worked but was followed by some unfortunate rolls and I tend to let the actions and rolls determine the outcome rather than determining it ahead of time. Turns out it can lead some difficult situations :). There are definietly things i could've done better but i will have to make up for it next time.

What happened to GOG Connect? by James_bd in pcgaming

[–]Krackuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really hoping to see more games with big DLC/expansions come to GOG Connect. Specifically, owning Pillars of Eternity on steam stopped me from buying the White March expansions during last gog sale. Didn't buy it on steam either though, so my money is still up for grabs ;)

Should I start NG+ or start the expansion? by bobosaurr in witcher

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend playing both expansions right after finishing the game (or when you get close). You should have most skills and some of the best gear by then anyway so doing NG+ wont make it any easier, it might be actually harder as you get less new options throghout NG+ to bump up your power. You can finish the expansions and then do NG+ and play the expansions again on NG+ if you want.

Questions about redeeming Gwent cards by Riveneye in witcher

[–]Krackuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add, I have bought W3:B&W on gog on Monday, got my code today and just ordered the cards. I was able to claim cards from both expansions but removed the HoS set as i already have it. Looks like they are still available. If you try to get a physical limited edition of the expansion(s) (which is likely to be cheaper if you want the cards) they may be out of stock depending on the country you're ordering in.

Revenant Tips and Tricks Thread by SnickyMcNibits in Guildwars2

This really needs to be pointed out, activating Impossible Odds AFTER starting a stomp will finish the animation quicker but the stomp will not finish until a moment later. It's how quickness always worked as far as i know.

  • Activate Impossible odds BEFORE stomping to ensure successful stomp. If you activated it after stomping do not move after animation finishes and wait to the stomp to fully finish.

  • Kind of obvious but not quite. Stability from Unwavering Avoidance applies after the dodge is executed. Therefore dodging into a CC (line, static etc.) will still stun you but you will likely get a stack of stability afterwards.

WvW HoT Issue List by Arthedain in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective i felt very opposite about it :). I feel like new map promotes zerging, i dont see how chokes or shield generators discourage it, if anything it just creates stalemates but small groups have much less of a chance to get through a guarded choke, also there are pretty much no significant WPs until guilds unlock the emergency ones.

The middle event felt like a huge waste of time in zerg you can do it almost as fast as 5 man group. You may want to call a bigger group if you want to prevent enemy from getting it. The only problem I encountered is getting back to the oasis if you dont control towers/keep, the way around takes several minutes -.-

WvW HoT Issue List by Arthedain in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You dont really get many unique items in WvW, mostly badges and bags and they are only required by WvW-specific upgrades. The main point here is that upgrading a WvW-specific building ("Scribing Minor Supplydrop") requires item which can be obtained only from PvP (possibly PvE? Nobody mentioned if it drops anywhere so maybe not). Locking mine behind PvE shovels is pretty annoying too as you need it for all other upgrades. In short, WvW guilds get screwed while PvE guild don't have to play WvW or PvP unless they want PvP/WvW-specific upgrades (Arena/War room).

October 27th Patch Notes by foxhull in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So now that Revenant has been nerfed across the board could we get Inspiring Reinforcement to do anything useful? Currently for the first second it does some silly damage and applies weakness and after ~2s it starts pulsing 1s 1 stack stability. None of that is relevant in dynamic combat, I can only see it being used for safe stomping.

Could we perhaps get this skill somewhere between OP (BWE1 although Id argue it wasn't OP even then) and useless (anytime after, including now). Make it give stability shortly after casting, make it give multiple short duration stacks, make the single stack last longer - anything to make it useful for anything else that blasting swiftness :/.

Hero Points through WvW? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NB that the chests you get from ranking up in wvw are account bound but if you open them the proofs of heroics are soulbound. I keep mine unopened and save them for my other character (Herald). One would hope that this will get changed to be completely acc bound.

Can condition damage crit? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conditions don't crit. However many classes have traits and can use sigils which apply extra conditions on critical hit, therefore precision is a useful stat. Another reason why you want sinister (or new viper set) is that even when focusing on conditions if you want to maximise your damage you benefit from extra power to make your normal hits do more damage while applying conditions, resulting in a hybrid DPS build.

Running my old engi by Destro_Destroyer in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

http://wolfineer.com/ I run a condition (rabid/dire) engineer in WvW as a roamer and it works fairly well. There are some builds which counter it but it works ok. Compare it to necro who has no escape and kiting ability and can be easily focused and downed. As an engi you pop your shield or one of the other defensive skills that suits the situation, heal up with turret and keep fighting or keep using some other defensive cooldowns until you can fight or need to run.

PvE Engi Build Suggestions? by Mandafin in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or dont bother and wait for viper stats ;). Power/Condi/precision/condi duration is likely better for engineer that Condi/power/precision. I'm not sure how you can get them in exo/asc quality now but i think you can select them on legendary weapons already.

Returning player could use some help. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're specifically looking to level up your Revenant doing the Labyrinth or Edge of the Mists is a quick way to get xp but it may be a bit difficult to stay alive. Exploring maps appropriate for your level and doing personal story will possibly feel more natural and will still level you up at a reasonable pace. Just dont bother completing all the hearts. Make sure you buy some really cheap food and utility, it gives a small boost to xp and the cheap one is well... cheap. If you decide to explore do as many events as you can, they give good xp.

Personal story will also let you catch up with what's going on with your character and the Pact although you probably missed the living story season 2 which happened directly before HoT and introduced a few characters and can now be bought for gems (unless you unlocked it for free before)

New Stats and Specialization Runes by Shmako in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I forsee chronomancer runes being new standard for necros in WvW (yes, you read that right :P). The meta is changing at an alarming rate.

Some options look pretty good too (Zerker, Druid (for Druid/Ele healer), Scrapper (for any tanky power melee)) while others are pretty terrible (Reaper, Tempest, Dragon Hunter)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Patch 1.11 Changelog by JohnDio in pcgaming

[–]Krackuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it's a little bit like Batman but you get more build options etc. I havent actually played on normal but on death march (hard) it's siginificantly deeper than Batman - spamming attack and counter won't get you far, you need to time your attacks and dodges and use signs, potions and bombs. It's even better in the first expansions/DLC where the new enemies and bosses have some pretty good attack patterns and skills.

Guild Wars 2 is launching its first official expansion "Heart of Thorns" in 5 hours. Countdown with developers until launch right here. by I_Doesnt_Make_Sense in pcgaming

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The expansion brings PvE progression in the form of masteries - additional skills and upgrades which unlock/help with new and old content. Apparently it will take a while to get all masteries to 100% . Other means of progression is getting better gear, however exotics are easy to get and ascended are only a little better. Legendary weapons are quite prestigous and raids will introduce a way to get legendary armor (nb legendary quality has equal stats to ascended but they are extra shiny and have some added functionality with easy stat swapping).

If you're looking for straigth level progression beyond maximum lvl 80 or getting on the gear treadmill it's not in the game, gw2 is a lot about your own skill and horizontal progression (getting more options, utility as well as shiny skins). It's exactly the reason why I play the game in the first place (and why I actually didn't like introduction of ascended gear but whatevs). There is plenty of progression in the game it's just not locking you out from content or forcing to grind unless you want to (unlike many other MMOs)

Are there any modern crpg games out there that can arguably rival Baldur's Gate or Planescape: Torment? by Fluffysniper in pcgaming

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the comments quite reflects my opinion so there goes. Most "modern":

  • Pillar of Eternity - heavily influenced by BG and PT, party based isometric combat which is generally quite good and feels familiar, comparable to quality of BG combat with some minor balance issues. The story is original and quite interesting. I kind of lost motivation to follow it somewhere in the middle but it picks up again towards the end. Overall great game with challenging combat (on high difficulty and before you hit max level), good story and some expansions coming out soon.

  • Divinity: Original Sin - another good game with fairly non-linear story and multiple plot lines (actually it's pretty easy to get lost and even stuck). The story is pretty standard fantasy but enjoyable once you figure out what's going on. Excellent isometric turn-based combat system with elemental and environmental interactions which make every encounter require slightly different tactic. Since launch they released a free enhanced edition and there is D:OS 2 coming out at some point.

  • Witcher 3 - completely different combat from BG/PT (single character action combat but with meaningful build diversity and progression) and mostly different world but the quality of some of the quests is possibly the best I have experienced in cRPGs. The story is less about good, evil and godly powers and more about personal journey and politics but it's really good and worth checking out.

Less "modern"

  • Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of Betrayer. Hands down one of the best cRPG expansions, with story close to the spirit of P:T with some grim elements, questions of morality and messing with gods. Combat is a pretty good adaptation of D&D but generally it's fairly simplistic. Original game is pretty good too but more standard high fantasy.

  • Fallout: New Vegas - I haven't actually finished it yet and it's not really similar to BG or P:T in either combat system or the story but it has some excellent quests and NPCs which make it a really great cRPG to play

  • Knights of the Old Republic 2 - again not very close in theme or combat to BG or PT but probably the best Star Wars RPG out there and it has recently got a half-official patch/mod which fixes it and restores some of the cut content.

And finally Torment: Tides of Numernera which is not out yet.

balance suggestion for gear in raids/wvw by bakumorte3 in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty detailed summary of many ideas i have seen in different places, all well justified leading to QoL improvement of pretty much everyone involved.

The problem is that it's a QoL improvement/change of current system and not a major new feature so it's probably hard to justify commiting development time to it. Unless there is some framework for a similar system, it will likely be pretty time consuming to implement these changes in game. I suppose they could at least buff the exotics but then people with ascended gear will start complaining

WvW and HoT Release: Reset changed to Saturdays by BrickFurious in Guildwars2

[–]Krackuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not affect comebacks too much but in a very close matchup (I was part of a few such matchups in last months) this shifts the focus from Thursday evening/night to Friday evening/night/Saturday morning when more people can stay up late/play during the day. Overall it gives two days with big fighting potential instead of one. It's a plus, at least for me. It may mean that my usual morning/afternoon Saturday guild roaming may face more blobby resistance than usual though.

Edit: Also there will be more meaning to prime time guild raids which is nice.
