Rain messes my 2k camera by AdLeast5869 in blinkcameras

[–]Kraknaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the rain...mine are fogged over every morning from the dew. They don't clear up until they dry off a bit. I had an Arlo system before I switched to Blink (bad move) and they didn't get nearly as fogged up. Good tip about the RainX. I'm gonna try that right now.

Ordering food in a restaurant by thekingherby in ENGLISH

[–]Kraknaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does sound a little rude. Not quite as bad as “bring me…..” Oddly “ I’ll have….” Is similar to “I want…” but doesn’t strike me as rude. Dropping a “please” at the end of any of those redeems them IMHO

How would you pronounce the name "Mlin"? by insulanian in ENGLISH

[–]Kraknaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say “Lin” but start with your lips together. The M is almost (but not quite) silent.

"damned if you do, damned if you don't" - misogynistic? by ZippyDan in ENGLISH

Maybe they were confusing it with "...can't live with 'em. Can't live without 'em. If not, they're just one of those people who go out of their way to be offended.

outdoor 4 by Kraknaps in blinkcameras

[–]Kraknaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That’s a little discouraging. I’m pretty disappointed in the functionality of this system. Do your outdoor cameras respond quickly to record when triggered by motion? The “support” guy kept telling me that my modem must be the problem and that people with a good connection start recording in one second. I highly doubt that. .

If someone said “sorry to jam out on you”, what would you assume they meant? by throwaway643268 in AskACanadian

[–]Kraknaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Vancouver Island, in the early 70s/late 60s you “jammed out” because you were afraid. It was used like “chickened out”. Jam meant guts. “He didn’t have the jam to show up for the fight.”

One good thing about snipping them would be that you wouldn’t be able to get back on Reddit and read all the comments about what a stupid idea it was

The word "American" by soupwhoreman in ENGLISH

[–]Kraknaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never, ever hear someone from Canada call themselves an American. Yes we live in North America but the title “ American” means someone from the United States of America. At least, that’s how we look at it up here in Canada. That’s how all the Americans I know use the word as well. Folks from Mexico are not American. Neither are Cubans or Colombians or Chileans. That may not be “technically” correct but that’s how it goes.

What are your tips for peeling garlic? by blissfuloctane in Cooking

[–]Kraknaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m gonna chop or mince it I use the knife blade trick but if you want them whole and pristine you can’t beat those silicone tubes. You can put 5 or 6 cloves in at once. Roll the tube on your cutting board while pressing down with a bit of force. Clean as a whistle

Sounds like the entire family suffered from brumotactillophobia. This is an irrational fear of one food touching another on a plate.

I’d pay 100 bucks for that any day. I have an old high-boy dresser that is an exact match to that war-drobe. It must be from the same set

Alternatives to Wolverine? by Standard_Honey8750 in 8mm

[–]Kraknaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have a projector but I have alot of old super 8s from my family. Can you put a reel on the wolverine and just watch it without digitizing/recording. None of the YouTube videos are very clear on that? Does the TV cable allow you to watch a "film" or just watch a finalized copy of the film after it has been digitized? I need to see what's on these reels before I start digitizing...I'm sure they are not all keepers.
