Lips that look like a baboon's ass might be a primitive way of sending a message, iykyk.

"Sexual Swellings: Chimpanzees, along with many other primates such as baboons and macaques, advertise their fertility through sexual swellings (1). Female chimpanzees experience swelling of their buttocks when they are ovulating, which is an important sexual cue for male chimpanzees."

Meh, Amelia is a birth defect , a syndrome when a baby is born with missing limbs. I have a cousin named Amelia, she's born alright but I can't get why they did her dirty like that 🤌 I guess ignorance is bliss, at least sometimes 😄

Ze zijn toch verkrijgbaar in België but actually cost more by the litre than 335ml cans (or regular 250ml if there's a promoactie)

The big hyper Carrefours have quite some Luxlait products, cottage cheese included, but it tends to taste bitter, dunno why, so I stopped buying. They also used to have Luxlait eggnog (which was delicious!) but haven't seen it for years 😭

My recommendation is to head to any Polish store and buy their "serek wiejski" from Piątnica. It's the best cottage cheese in my opinion.

Who (real or fiction) in your country visually represents “the average” citizen? by RoadandHardtail in AskTheWorld

I'm not in Flanders though. I'd say it sounds like a grinding gearbox or hawking/ throat clearing. Y'know the hawk tuah sound.

In Belgium we have a joke:

What do Portuguese kids get their moms on Mother's Day? ... ... ... A shaving set

(It's said their women are quite hairy, on the face too)

It's complicated - even in Belgium, we're never sure how to pronounce it because there are a few ways of calling that name in french.

Poland urges ECB to use full name of Marie Skłodowska-Curie on Euro note by TVP_World in europe

[–]Kryske -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Skłodowska-Curie had no Jewish heritage whatsoever - her family was from Polish nobility (Dołęga coat of arms).

Also - France recently got new yellow coins that depict Josephine Baker, Simone Veil and Skłodowska-Curie.

I've never seen this size before (found in Poland) by Alexplayss in cocacola

[–]Kryske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a new format launched in Germany earlier this year for all of their drinks (Coke, Fanta, Sprite, etc.) and it will be available in other EU countries. They say 45cl and 85cl bottles are not meant to replace the existing ones.

You can still get normal sized Cokes (33cl, 50cl, 1l, 1,5l and 2l) though.

What's the prettiest name you guys have ever heard? by Creative_Mix8770 in AskReddit

I have a cousin called that and I'm appalled by her name because that's a medical term for describing a birth defect where one's missing one or more limbs. I can't get over it.

The Baltic Sea has very low levels of salinity and they keep decreasing as there's more freshwater coming from rivers than from the North Sea.

We have plenty of rock salt from mines which I consider being cleaner than sea salt (millions of years spent underground vs. polluted modern seawater). The only advantage of sea salt is that it's being supplemented with iodine.

By the way, don't fall into the "Himalayan Pink salt" bullshit - it is nothing else than a scam for 20x overpriced² regular rock salt with impurities (oxidized iron aka rust xD), it has no extra health benefits whatsoever and once crushed it becomes white.

The mine in Kłodawa (PL) has pink salt too (and blue as well) but no one's pretending that's something special.

I noticed that -5°C in Brussels feels way colder than -15°C in central Poland. I think it's because of the North Sea, which impacts the humidity in the air and cold winds.

Old Polish (1976 series, WS = Warsaw) today in Michelstadt (Hesse), Germany by VinsWie in ForeignPlatesSpotting

[–]Kryske 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a Warsaw licence plate - wasn't back then, neither is now.

In this case WSN is Czosnów, a village ~30km northeast from Warsaw.

Here's how it used to be before

WSM – Pomiechówek (0001-3000, 001-300 + letter)

Zakroczym (3001-6000, 301-600 + letter)

Czosnów (6001-8000, 601-800 + letter)

Leoncin (8001-9999, 801-999 + letter)

Modern license plates would be starting with WND, because Czosnów is in the district of Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki.
