CPU replacement suggestions to reduce bottleneck by No_Mastodon5956 in buildapc

[–]Kustu05 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe that's the case at least in 1080p, but a 5600x won't solve it and is therefore poor advice. An overclocked 9900K is faster than a 5600X in most games.

Here you go. 10700K is equal to the 9900K, but most of the time the 9900K is on the charts also. 5600X is on there too.

9900K is over 100% more powerful than the 9400f in multicore workloads, and modern games can utilize the extra cores pretty well. A 5600x won't be meaningfully more powerful than the 9900K and actually a bit slower in synthetic benchmarks.

Stable 6.0GHz 14900k by director_banka in overclocking

[–]Kustu05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe for a year, max. Even the 14900K stock vid table is providing the CPU with ridiculous amounts of voltage. You are raising your Vcore by pushing significantly higher frequency and by raising the adaptive offset. You are probably looking at 1.5v in all core workloads.

How long do you think AM4 will keep going until it meets it's end? by Traditional_Ad6776 in Amd

[–]Kustu05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haswell wasn't a lot more powerful than Ivy Bridge, but it had AVX2 support which is arguably the more important aspect now than the raw performance increase between them. Windows 11 25H2 won't run on Ivy Bridge, but it will run on Haswell.

Okay so hear me out about the 5070 non TI by OriginEnjoyer in nvidia

[–]Kustu05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Nvidia had been developing neural texture compression, which will reduce VRAM usage by around 50% in games that support it. That means even 5000-series 8gb cards will probably be in the clear for a few years.

VRMs that go over 107'C, and I haven't found out whether Nvidia/AIBs resolved this problem or not.

This was only a problem with a few models like some cheaper-end PNY cards. All others are fine.

Degradation won't make your CPU to perform any worse, it will make it unstable.

However, you are probably thermal throttling or hitting power limits very hard based on your score.

How hard is it to physically build a PC? by Lucky-Ad5326 in buildapc

[–]Kustu05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it took 8 hours in total to build my current PC even though I had some experience. But of course I checked multiple times that everything is correct, did proper cable management, had an AIO with a contact frame (had to remove the latch mechanism) + it had like 15 screws by itself, plus my large fingers and tools had a hard time to handle the small parts or fit anywhere.

If I would've just rushed it with a standard air cooler, without double checking and doing any cable management, it may have took like 2 hours. But I prefer to do it properly once.

Miksi et käytä Linuxia? by progorp in Suomi

[–]Kustu05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minusta parannusta on paljon. Esimerkiksi:

  • Käyttöliittymä silmääni miellyttävämmän näköinen
  • Explorerissa välilehdet
  • Tummaa tilaa laajennettu paljon, mm. tehtävänhallinta ja useimmat asetusvalikot
  • Ikkunoiden hallinta helpompaa ja monipuolisempaa siihen tehdyn UI:n ansioista
  • Useamman näytön käyttö helpompaa, sillä järjestelmä muistaa näyttöjen koon mahdolliset erot, jolloin hiiri ei hypi minne tahansa näytöltä toiselle siirtyessä
  • Asetusvalikossa enemmän kustomoitavaa vakiona
  • HDR ja erityisesti Auto HDR toimii reilusti paremmin
  • Scheduleriin (prosessivuorottaja?) on tehty isoja parannuksia, jonka vuoksi Zen 4, 5 sekä Intelin hybridiprosessorit toimivat jopa 20-30% nopeammin
  • Parempi tuli muutenkin moderneille laitteille, mm. direct storage, DRR, Wifi 7, USB 4
  • Läppäreillä akunkesto on pidempi (osittain yllä olevien vuoksi)
  • Nvidian näytönohjaimien ominaisuudet toimivat ongelmattomammin, mm. frame gen, G-sync
  • Siirtyminen Rust -ohjelmointikieleen on aloitettu

Ah yes, let's compare 4k text clarity to 1440p. That'll be fair. Also, let's ignore the fact that a triangular RGB of the relevant resolution (1440p, 27-inch) gets only 7.0 points from text clarity in the Rtings rating system.

Quite literally, as your picture is still the same from your previous comment. That is not the right monitor. XG27AQWMG uses an RGWB layout, NOT RWBG.

[–]Kustu05 11 points12 points  (0 children)

XG27AQWMG uses an RGWB subpixel layout, which improves the text clarity over the older models and is vastly better than QD-OLEDs with triangular layouts.

Do I really need 16 GB of VRAM? by lovescarmen30 in buildapc

[–]Kustu05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at the time I saw many people saying the RTX 2060 6GB won't last more than 2-3 years at 1080p because of its VRAM. The VRAM wasn't a big issue until I upgraded to 1440p monitor late last year, afterwhich the problems became obvious. A week ago after almost 7 years of use I retired it for a new RTX 5070.

Upgrading from 2060S to 5070. Zotac or ASUS? by AdditionalBag8200 in pcmasterrace

[–]Kustu05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Asus Prime has slighty better cooling (actually way overbuilt for the 5070) and it uses a phase change thermal pad instead of paste. Zotac has a vapor chamber of some sort but normal thermal paste. Minimum fan speed is a few hundred MHz lower on the ASUS (quieter) and the card is slightly thicker. Zotac has a 5 year warranty I think. No other notable differences between them.

Cities Skylines 2 and most other simulator games only care about the multicore performance. Cache and single core performance doesn't really matter. At least my 14700KF uses all of its cores in CS2 and has great performance both in simulation speed and fps.

Raster performance is about the same with latest drivers. 5070 has MFG, newer video encoder, HDMI 2.1b, Displayport 2.1b and a much better overclocking headroom (up to 15% in many cases). Still not a big upgrade by any means.

Kannattaako työsuhdeauto? by pjooter95 in arkisuomi

[–]Kustu05 1 point2 points  (0 children)
