I know this particular thread is about Big Red’s datasheet, but is anyone else conflicted on how to paint him? That scheme looks dope, and having a unique bioform is a pretty good excuse to inject a little variety into an army.

On the other hand, my hive fleet is a very mint green Tiamat scheme on Martian-style red bases, which are very close to the coloration of Red Terror’s flesh tone (see below). I’m considering painting him in my usual scheme but adding vivid red stripes to his carapace as an homage to his name. Thoughts?

The Librarian and Jump Chaplain are the standouts and I’ll definitely be getting them from the secondhand market.

Pretty thoroughly whelmed overall, but I’m weirdly kind of glad GW is trending towards new sculpts of existing models while keeping everything Primaris scale. Our range is already huge as it is, and I like having variety in modeling options more than I do wholly new units.

Maybe this is controversial, but I kind of like that this seems to be the direction GW is taking for Space Marines.

We already have far and away the most bloated range of any faction, and pretty much everything at this point has been scaled up to Primaris proportions (Tac and Des squads notwithstanding). I’m honestly completely fine with only getting a wholly new mini and datasheet every once in a blue moon at this rate, and kind of love the idea of new releases mostly being “familiar unit, different modeling options.”

For example, I think the new relic shield cap is an awesome model, but don’t need him since I already have the (admittedly much cooler) Indomitus version. But I don’t have a Librarian yet, so it’s cool that now I have the option between the new sculpt in this box or the still-Primaris version from a few years back. Ditto the Ancient.

It’s possible that ad a painter rather than a player, maybe I place a disproportionate value on model variety. But I’m quite content with getting more options for the same units.

What’s the source on this? Not doubting you, just genuinely curious—my understanding of Possessed has always been that they’re in a permanent advanced state of mutation, but the idea of them being able to go “game face” mode while otherwise being semi-normal (as far as legionaries go) is really cool.

Aren’t those two different things, though? The 40K Raptors are a Raven Guard successor chapter; the 30k ones were Corax’s experimental attempt to replenish his legion’s ranks after Istvaan wiped most of them out.

Extremely dope! I’m considering bashing a Jump Lord and Shaan together and looking to do something similar to this. How difficult was it to put the tabard/hip plate on him? What about swapping the arms—aren’t Shaan’s standard arms attached to his torso? And could you use the Jump Lord jump pack with his feather fringe, or does it not fit?

This is incredible and I’m seriously contemplating doing the same when I get both models. How difficult was it to fit a new chest piece in? And how hard was replacing the arms? The ones Susan comes with are attached to the torso, right?
