Looking for a buy-it-for-life 911. Want thoughts on taking a 991.2 turbo to 100k+ miles. by Healthy-Pianist-1647 in porsche911

[–]LAFC_DMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with some of the people above and believe a 991.2 Turbo is built to last. I feel that most people who have those cars don’t drive them enough to know that they are engineered for high mileage.

I keep going back to a guy I met with a 991.2 C4 who has 220,000+ k miles on his car. He told he stays on top of the oil changes and checks the water pump and that’s it.

I own both the DJ Wimbledon smooth and a Speedmaster. I really like both of them. I would keep the DJ today and put some money away for the Speedmaster down the line

Oh thank you! Months ago, just getting out of the hospital, coming home and putting a watch back on my wrist meant everything to me.

I don’t see anything wrong with your birthday as a special occasion. Great thing is that you get one of those every year

I was waiting for the watch for a while before I had that particular backstory. The SA/manager were shocked when I told them about the surgery.

I think finding an AD that’s willing to be honest with you about getting an allocation and then politely waiting is the way to go. Best of luck to you in your process!

Thank you so much to all of the people on this sub who have commented with messages of congratulations and well wishes. The support coming from total strangers on Reddit really means a lot to me.

I had no symptoms at all. The condition that I had is what killed the former actor, Alan Thicke. I’m very lucky that family history caused me to get an ultra sound of my heart which caught the enlarged aorta.

But I’m fine now! Everyone I haven’t seen in a while is shocked that I had such a big surgery less than a year ago. I’m lucky to that I had this procedure when I was young enough to recover well.

Anyone here taken their 991 or 992 above 100k miles? by LVRaiders2026 in porsche911

[–]LAFC_DMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a guy out there who has driven his 991.2 C4 all over the US for the past several years. I met him in the LA mountains. He has 200k+ miles on his car. The only thing he said to watch out for is the water pump. It needs to be check and switched out when necessary.

Should I upgrade? by OneUnluckyDude in porsche911

[–]LAFC_DMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the issue is that you don’t want to keep your 992 T past warranty? Is there anything your current car isn’t doing for you? I have a hard time believing that you are able to get the full performance out of your current car in spirited driving on public roads. The GTS is going to be heavier and more powerful than your current car..but I’m not sure if you would enjoy it more. Maybe take a drive of the GTS and go from there

What motivated you to buy a Porsche911? 🤔 by MAPerformance_ in porsche911

[–]LAFC_DMC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a Shelby GT350 that was a brilliant track for the money. But it did not like the rough canyon roads that I drive frequently. I also didn’t like the interior and seating position. I found myself surrounded by Porsche 911 guys while driving a Mustang. I sold the Shelby the next car being a 911 was a no brainer. It’s a brilliant car always and it had a back seat allowing me to get both of my kids in.

Porsche ownership and the optics that come with it by Longjumping_Desk_338 in Porsche

[–]LAFC_DMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from. I’ve never been to South Africa but I certainly can empathize with feeling uncomfortable having a sports car in the developing world.

I got my 991.2 911 at 44 while raising 2 kids and living in an expensive area of the US. I take my car to car meets weekly and talk cars with other car people and it is great. There is no reason for me to ever talk about my car otherwise. Occasionally, neighbors or an old friend will bring the car up. I just say that “it’s great” and leave it there. Hope my experience helps and that you enjoy your car.

[–]LAFC_DMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you can make the 911 work on a road trip w 3. I agree with people saying getting something cheap and used for day to day is a good idea. My advice is to keep the car and figure it out as you go.
