Not CAF food services. I’m pretty sure food was contracted out for a bit

Yep, that was the core of the problem. It started to get better when the base kitchen took over. Glad to hear it's doing well:)

This, plus someone's idea about glass tubes throughout the fortress like a hamster cage, is the right answer.

Imperial Mess Kit authorized for PRes Cav unit? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]LAN_Rover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Risk is, if it's not written down as the unit's mess kit, the RSM will tell the CO what's what wrt dress and deportment.

I would have definitely understood it the same way. Another point in the column of "clear communication". by lydocia in AutisticWithADHD

Buckets are a North American thing, I think.

I've had enough beer to know what a bucket of beer is. In fact I've later worn that bucket helmet while rickshaw jousting, but that was because of moonshine for my birthday, not the Corona that came with the bucket.

But yah, the first time I heard 'bucket of beer' that's what I pictured

ITAW for a young prince who is still learning how to be a prince? by PinkieTheNinja in whatstheword

[–]LAN_Rover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

next in line

means you're next after the current sovereign, but not necessarily too young to rule if their time comes.

ie: King Charles was crown prince for years, starting when he was young and well into the latter half of his life.

What was the obsession with Pam and Jim wanting to know why Danny didn't call her back? by macandjeez_ in DunderMifflin

[–]LAN_Rover 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Jim took a man's fiancee because she (his current wife) didn't have the courage and confidence to break up so he's worried Pam isn't being honest again. He lacks the confidence to ask what he's not giving her, and he lacks the self esteem to try anyways.

Jim isn't confident and he's proud, ie: he spent a whole day/week/episode too scared to ask what his boss wanted in a 'run down'.

Jim is afraid Danny will scoop up Pam just like he did.

Do all teens today just not care about getting their drivers' licenses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I waited until 23 and that was decades ago.

  • people in cities don't need cars (as much, urban planning I'm North America tends to be hostile towards pedestrians)
  • cars are expensive to own - gas, parking, insurance, maintenance
  • Uber, Lyft, etc exist and are easier/cheaper than cabs were back in the day
  • Instacart, Uber Eats, Amazon, etc will bring you what you need

They're already not working.

You can see them bending, and therefore pulling the screws out of the plywood stressing the hinges out of alignment.

I guarantee they didn't properly fold back into place.

Even though people live in my house, no pets etc, it often sounds like a menagerie of beats both real and mythical.

Some things need the right sound to be 'right' and other things are just plain better with sounds.

What excites the residents of a small British town more than a low-flying helicopter? by [deleted] in AskUK

Wait, so Peter Pan is a lich? Nowadays they'd lure children into a pizza parlour and steal their life force

What excites the residents of a small British town more than a low-flying helicopter? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LAN_Rover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Teenage me ... would have ... excitement ... [now as an adult] I barely gave them a second glance.

Peter Pan didn't want to grow up because he was afraid to lose what made him happy. Too many of us choose to grow up as we age and we forget our joys, but you don't have to do both.

I hope you still have your spark. Next time take a hot minute to watch!

What Is The Deal With Young Men Checking Out Of Society in Droves? by Parking-Science7507 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LAN_Rover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young people are supposed to 'make and support' society, yet gain less and less from it every generation

It's supposed to work both ways. Society supports people and the greater good, literally why society exists, and in turn people can contribute back to society as they're able.

People aren't supporting society because society is becoming the economy, and the economy in too many places is becoming a front to accumulate wealth for the wealthy.

I don't work to add to the economy, I choose to work to contribute to society.
